3 Halloween Things: Gunslinger, Haunted House, Bad Moon

Happy hump day, everyone.  I’m excited to say that there are more responses to my Halloween Creativity Challenge.

Author and man with a wonderfully, hysterically unique sense of humor, Geoff Le Pard, of the TanGental blog, posted a fantastic short story called “The Hole in the Wall.”  Don’t miss it — click here.

Robbie Cheadle just blew me away with her response.  Not only did she make fondant creatures (which require even more time and effort than you might imagine), but she used them to make a Youtube video.  Robbie didn’t stop at just three Halloween things either.  She used them from all across the table I made.  You can see the link below to the video, but here’s the link to her entire post.

My own response had been completely derailed for the past week, by a sick kitty and a bad back.  However, I haven’t given up on my short story.

By the way, don’t miss Teri Polen‘s Bad Moon Rising horror book festival.  She features a different author interview and book each day of October. I’ll be there on the 19th with my latest novella, A Peril in the Bayou.

Although, that’s not the only Halloween Book Festival happening this October.   Roberta Eaton Cheadle (Robbie) has been posting a book review each day this month, featuring books she has read and thought were suitably Halloween-ish.  I’m thrilled to say that today she chose to feature A Peril in Ectoplasm.  AND THEN when she learned that the second book, A Peril in the Bayou was published, she jumped right in and read it as well.  I call the series “A Medium’s Peril.” Read Robbie’s reviews of the series here.

It’s not too late to play. I’ve included everything below from my weekend post, in case you missed it, or if you wanted to take another look at how to participate.  Start by using the easy chart I made for you.

Creativity Challenge: If you want to draw or take a photo, or decorate something, just take any three things from the table below.

Writing challengeWrite as short or long as you want.  It could be a story, song, poem, satiric product review, advertisement – anything you like.

Using the chart below, take the first letter of your name (first name or last name), and use the hero and costume (the hero does not have to wear the costume) in the same row.  Or be a rebel and pick any of the three you choose.  However, you must use a Halloween thing, a hero from the table, and one of the costumes – in any order you choose.

If character names are a holdup, here are some Halloween-ish possibilities: Ichabod, Hepzibah, Zelda, Samantha, Tabatha, Endora, Freddy, Hannibal, Moriarty, Jack, Grendel, Carrie, Barnibas, Mephistopheles, Nick, Jack.

Don’t miss my Halloween novella,
A Peril in the Bayou.

  1. Hi Teagan, thanks again for this fabulous Halloween prompt. I really enjoyed participating and will go over and read Geoff’s now. Congratulations on A Peril in the Bayou. A terrific read, I loved it! I hope little Daphne is on the mend and look forward to your story. There is still time …

    1. Thank you, Robbie — and thanks for your encouragement. Daphne isn’t quite herself, but the sneezes are fewer, and she stopped losing weight. Actually she gained back 3 ounces. I appreciate you thinking of her. Ha. I’ve been working so hard in the house that I forgot about my own story. Yes, there is still time. I’m glad I didn’t put any deadline on this! 😀 Hugs.

    1. Thanks, Diana. The responses have been truly wonderful and creative.
Daphne (cat) was pitiful on Monday, much better Tuesday, but quite a setback today. Thankfully, it’s “only” severe sneezing, no other symptoms — yet. But it makes her feel bad. Can’t get a vet appointment for a week and a half… Anyhow, ironically, I’m 90% sure that the culprit was my expensive, 2-month old, Blue Air air purifier, which started making a strange powdery smell and (likely) spewing microscopic particles rather than purifying. (She sneezes more when in the room where the Blue Air was.) I’m back on the cleaning frenzy from Monday, and it isn’t doing my back any favors.
Anyway, I appreciate your support and visit. Hugs.

    1. Denise, your response was spectacular. The supernatural post(wo)man was brilliant.
Kind thanks about Daphne. This morning I was afraid it was getting worse again, but she hasn’t sneezed as much this afternoon. When I researched this town, it was not apparent that there weren’t nearly enough vets… That’s a big deal.
Hugs winging back to you. ❤

  2. I’m so sad to hear about your kitty. I hope she’s well soon. And your back gets better as well (mine is giving me a bit of bother too, although I think it might be related to the change of weather). I saw Robbie’s video and is wonderful! I’m off to visit Geoff’s post. Your challenge is getting a wonderful response. Take care, Teagan and get better soon!
