Dead of Winter is coming
However, it’s taking more time to get the November novelette ready.
I didn’t simply choose stop/start points in the 1,000+ epic I wrote a decade ago. Each month, in addition to editing the manuscript, I reorganize things for a better “serial” flow. Also for this format, I enhance (and sometimes delete) some scenes, because that works better for the novelettes. The closer I get to the epic’s end, the more of this I’ve been doing. This time, Gethin Gwilym gets a couple of chapters of his own — all new material I’ve added to the manuscript. Also there are several scenes in Journey 11 where in a huge book, a basic description was fine, but the novelettes warrant further development. Zasha’s point of view is featured too. You’ll meet one of her friends, HaDritak Baki. Gethin makes a new “friend” as well. Sort of a friend anyway…
Here’s a tiny snippet, to keep you interested. Our determined young Deae Matres, Zasha is a bit of a risk taker. Her old friend Baki hopes to make her see reason.

Before she left the Golden Book, Zasha got that uneasy feeling that Osabide would probably call intuition. Something told her to have a better look at the city before she slipped into the Hall of Sisters. She felt the need to have a look at the lay of the land, so to speak.
However, many areas were unsafe for a woman to walk alone. She asked Baki if there was a horse she could borrow. The HaDritak was so intrigued by Zasha’s mysterious comments that she walked to the stable with her. When Zasha had the thought that at least her bedraggled appearance would discourage would be robbers, she decided to borrow a mule instead. At that point Baki was clearly having difficulty controlling her curiosity.
“I won’t allow you to go alone,” HaDritak Baki stated, and it was not said in a tone with which one would argue.

I do love hearing from you, but this time comments are closed. I need to stay focused on finishing the Journey. Hugs on the wing.
