Welcome, my friends. I’m hard at work on the October issue of Dead of Winter, so this post is just a quick cover reveal. In the tenth installment of this epic fantasy, the travelers set out for the far away city which is the ancient seat of power of the Society of Deae Matres — Pergesca. Those who are part of the Journeys will probably recognize the two men in the background for Hallgeir and his ancestor, Hallr. In the foreground, Emlyn carries the legendary Red Eye.

Thanks for spending part of your day here. I hope you can round out the month of September in a way that pleases you. I love to hear from you, so friendly comments are encouraged. Hugs on the wing!

You are so kind, Denise — thank you. I’ve had a very “challenging” (to say the least) month. Trying hard to pull myself together and polish up #10. Stay safe and well. Hugs on the wing!

I am so glad to be able to enjoy this another of your wonderful creations. I love your new cover. You have an unusual way of using color. Designing the individuals and the other objects that you use show your gift for design and originality. Love it, keep up the excellent work! !

Ms. Frances, I’ve long said that I seem to have a physical need for colors. If I’m dressed in all neutrals, I don’t even feel well. I appreciate you feedback about the colors. Wishing you a bright, vibrant week. Hugs on the wing.

It looks good and I spied Khan from one of the old Star Trek movies!

Thanks. There must have been some timing overlap. I changed the image of Hallr (Khan) after Teri’s comment. That character has a different model now.

Oh, I’ll go check it out again! Is that character a bad guy in the story?

It was hard for me to let go of that image, which inspired the “look” and posture of my Hallr, one of my favorite characters. I’m not happy with this new one, but I didn’t want people to assume a Star Trek connection in the storytelling.
LOL, an answer would be giving a big spoiler. Hallr… I’ll say that he’s complicated. This is from my notes: King of Floke Torsten 1000 years ago; Hallgeir’s ancestor. Titles: High King of the North, Master of the Frozen Lands, Lord of the White Marches.
Happy weekend.

Ha! I was holding back, but this does seem like a dirty martini day. Especially now that I have a place that will ship (delivery). Shipping is as much as a bottle of good gin, but that’s my only luxury or vice.
Cheers.

Dinner: Dirty martini and a pineapple sandwich. Don’t ask my why. It just sounded right, and it was. LOL

Love the colors in the cover. I was just about to scroll down when I said – Wait, is that Khan from Star Trek? He fits in perfectly, lol!

I couldn’t live with anyone noticing that, so I changed him. (He was my inspiration for Hallr’s appearance. I hoped he wouldn’t be all that recognizable. That was incredibly stupid of me.) Thanks for your feedback.

Love the cover, Teagan, and I’m enjoying Journey 5! I also appreciated your “horse” post when reading about Blossom. 🙂 Hugs! 🧡💚💜❤️

Oh, the one with all the ghost vignettes. Using them gave me a way to show a broad picture of Emlyn’s diverse world.
Haha, that horse looks feistier than gentle Blossom, but she does have courage. I was surprised that it was hard to find an image of a horse with that coloring…
Thanks for visiting, Lauren. Hugs winging back to you.

Revising the Journey, designing a cover and getting it ready to publish – three things that scare me to my core – and you’ve done it 10 times this year while publishing a weekly serial 😳

Very promising, Teagan. I hope it’s ready soon, as I was planning on reading 9 and 10 one after the other, although I know you’re hard at work, so I’ll be patient. Big hugs! ♥

Thanks for being patient, Olga. Maybe a small delay. I’ve been in PTSD overwhelm all month. At this point, I’m amazed that I can brush my teeth. The ending of 9 touches on the multiple layers of this epic. I’ve managed to rewrite the beginning of 10 with new content and reminders that are subtle enough to not bog down the story for people who are reading them with little gap in between. Big hugs back to you. 🙂

A stunning cover, Teagan. I am powering through Journey 7 now. Wow! What a start!

Ah, the history of how the Lost Library was lost. I struggled a lot with where to include that passage (in the overall epic). Journey 7 finally seemed like the right spot in the story’s flow. Originally it had been much earlier. Doing this as a monthly serial created different storytelling needs. What flowed in a single book novel didn’t fit for the monthly divisions. Anyhow. I’m delighted that you are enjoying it Robbie. Hugs on the wing!
