Wednesday Writing — Gratitude

I’m working hard, trying to figure out my launch post for the first “journey” of Dead of Winter.  The launch will be small, so I should think of a grand post, right?  Yeah… good luck with that, Teagan.

However, great things/launches come in small packages, to bend an old adage.  I’m grateful to those sensational authors/bloggers who volunteered to do their own unique posts for Dead of Winter: Journey 1, Forlorn Peak early in 2021.

Meanwhile, I’ve just finished narrating the prologue, and paired it with a video.  I can share that much with you today.

As you’ll recall, Dead of Winter will be a serial/series available through Amazon (and maybe others — for the anti-Amazon among us, if those sites cooperate).  I call the installments Journeys, because the characters travel across the complex world I built, experiencing new cultures and meeting new people.  Journeys will publish approximately monthly.  Length will range from 30 to 60 pages, or so.

Since this is my last post in 2020 I’ll end with a wish for each of you.  Happy New Year!

  1. Teagan, made a comment before but revisited your post to see if the volume was available now, as you say. I checked Amazon and cannot find it. How can we get it? The prologue narration is compelling and your voice comes through with a great tone. Made me listen intently. Looking forward to reading Journey 1… Happy New Year, my friend! 🤗🎶📚 Christine

    1. Hi Christine. Yes, it should have showed up on a search… but I know that I get all sorts of wrong stuff when I do searches for my own books. Darned Amazon. I’m glad you took time to leave this comment again (I don’t see the other one).

I know you like a paper copy — so I’ve included one. But please realize it’s very slim.
Here’s the link (there’s a “button” for paperback and for Kindle).

Heartfelt thanks for your encouragement. Happy New Year to you as well. Hugs on the wing.

          1. Thanks, Teagan. Sometimes whimsy takes the edge of serious thoughts. And it’s easier to write emotion into scenes & events. You get the message across in the voice. I’ve always picked up on that in your writing. That’s what makes your stories page turners! I know I’m going to like your Journey series. More hugs! 🤗🎶💛

    1. Hi Mark. Thanks very much about the cover. It’s one of my favorites.
What a lovely surprise! I’d be delighted for you to host my launch at your blog.
I’ll send an email to your Gmail account tied to this blog (unless you leave a different email here).
Happy end of 2020, and happy New Year to you and yours. Hugs on the wing!

  2. I just listened to your narration of the prologue and commend you, Teagan. The content is captivating and your voice is wonderfully clear and compelling. I wish you all the best for your launch, and if you’d like another blogger to host, count me in. l hope you have a truly wonderful new year.

    1. Gwen, your comment is such a perfect start to my day — thank you! And I blush. ^^’
LOL, the “clear” part took half a bottle of throat spray though.
I’d be thrilled if you can host me at your blog. The timing is up to you, since a new “journey” will publish monthly, I don’t mind spreading it out. I’ll send an email to your Gmail account tied to this blog (unless you leave a different email here) before noon. Thank you. This means a lot to me. A very happy, healthy New Year to you and yours as well. Hugs on the wing!

    1. Thank you very much, Michael! You have given me many smiles in 2020. I hope I can give you smiles in return throughout 2021.
I believe you and Rebecca (Clanmother) are right about the way people read.
A coworker (at my last job) surprised me by saying she liked short books. I was surprised because I thought she was a smart young woman (in her 30s). She explained that she felt a sense of accomplishment when she finishes a book — so shorter books let her accomplish more. Whatever the reasons, I hope this is well received. I appreciate your encouragement, my friend. I know you have more lockdowns there again. You stay save and well too. Happy New Year. And hugs!

  3. You have an insight into the ever-changing reading trends. We read differently than we did a few years ago, based on new technologies but also on our evolving attention spans. Your idea of “Journeys” as a monthly edition, with a range from 30 to 60 pages, or so, responds brilliantly to our reading choices.

    1. Thank you, Rebecca. I sure hope so.
The Amazon serials are not new — even though I’ve never personally encountered one. Mary J McCoy Dressel has suggested that I try it for years (since I’ve always given away the serial episodes on my blog).
I hear that Amazon gets to approve/reject if it’s a serial. So I’m doing it as a series, making sure each volume is long enough for me to call it a novelette (at least). Anyway that’s why you’ll see me vacillate on whether I call it a serial or a series.
Now I need to get busy editing Journey-2!
Happy end of the year! Stay safe and well. Hugs on the wing!

    1. Hi John. Well, I barely mentioned it, so there’s no wonder. I just haven’t had any enthusiasm. So thank you very much for offering now. I’m game if you want to make any sort of post. Maybe something that goes with one of your daily themes? LOL, maybe “what not to do if you live in a repressed society but see ghosts.” I’ll send you an email. ❤ I really appreciate it.
Happy end of the year. Hugs on the wing!

  4. I made a second cup of coffee and settled in to listen to your narration. Teagan, not only is the narration fantastic, but so is the story line of your serial/series. No one could have said this better than you. You should put this video on your Amazon Author Page: Photos and Videos
Add photos and videos to your updates feed on your Amazon.com Author Page. (I see it on the new version of the author page. Unsure if we could add videos on our last one, since I never did.) Have the happiest 2021 possible and then some! 🎉

    1. Mary, I appreciate this lovely encouragement.
Thank you about the narration video. I was up late last night finishing it. Animoto is usually easy, but my voice file wouldn’t upload (even though it was easily within their requirements). However, I’ve got to say their people were quick about responding. Mine should have worked, but rather than shrug it off like most places do, they came up with a work around.

In the past I’ve found it impossible to get my videos to show on my Amazon Author Page. Thanks for letting me know it might be different now. I have managed to post a couple of videos for Hullaba Lulu — although I’m not sure if they are showing outside the review/comments. I’ll be sure to give it a try with this one.

Wishing you huge success with “Seasoned with Destiny.” Along with a happy, healthy, sassy 2021! Hugs on the wing.

  5. I love the prologue narration/animation, Teagan. You do a beautiful job on the narration. I am very much looking forward to beginning these journeys. I wish you all the best with the launch, and of course, I wish you a very Happy New Year.

    1. Thank you, dear Magician. Yes, the first short volume is actually available now. Considering how I messed up the comments today, it’s a good thing the official launch is not until Saturday. LOL! 😀
