I got such a kick out of the concept the first time I heard of “Draw a Bird Day.” I found the whimsy irresistible. Jinx of Brother Love — a Crossroad would approve. You can read the sweetly sentimental story behind the day by clicking Draw a Bird Day.
The website says “You can also celebrate Draw A Bird Day by drawing a picture of a bird. The picture shouldn’t be professional, especially, if you’re not so talented. Share this picture with anyone, who is important to you.”
All of you are important to me, so I’m sharing my silly bird. My skills as an artist are less than mediocre, but I participate just to enjoy the flight of fancy. I didn’t try to draw Jinx from Brother Love or Cracker the parrot from Murder at the Bijou. I couldn’t have done either of them justice. Instead, here’s my quick sketch drawn with markers, of a funky flamingo.
I invite everyone to come out to play and post your drawing on Facebook or in a blog post. Just be sure to tag me so that I don’t miss it.
Purely by coincidence, Kirt Tisdale recently did a post of an Inspirational Flamingo Family. Click over and check out his lovely work.
I’ll see you at the river again next Saturday, for another chapter of The Delta Pearl! Hugs on the wing.

It was fun Jennie. Maybe next year you’ll want to draw a bird with the kids. 🙂 Hugs on the wing!

The children would love that. If only I had your skills. 🙂

Red now your other comment about the ribs of sand. Don’t know if you caught it that with time in history, this pandemic will just appear like ribs in the sand. Thought you might be interested in the symbolism since you are a writer …

Are you cutting your hair yourself? Am thinking about it, since it’s getting too long and the hair salons belong to the non-essential stores! Have seen on the net that guys have started shaving their hair (because of the same reason). Hope that you get a different view of whatever you’re stressed out about! – not only for your hair, lol.

Yes, but I’ve been cutting my own for a long time. On one hand it is not rocket science… But on the other hand, it isn’t for the faint of heart either.

Wow how time flies. Last time I looked you had chin length hair. Hope you are doing well in this time. I think it’s easier for artists, to have something that we never get enough doing, in a time like this. Wishing you a lovely Easter!

Hey Jesh! It’s so nice to see you. The short hair picture was about a year old. I changed my hair from my beloved copper red to rose gold, so took a new selfie. Now I’m about to chop it off again. My stress has gotten the better of me and it’s caused a bout of “telogen effluvium” — hair falling out by handfulls… But it grows fast, so even if I whack it off, it will look like the new photo again by autumn. Enjoy your holiday. Stay happy and sassy! Hugs. 🙂

That is perfect, Teagan. I can see it in a children’s book (because it looks warm and approachable).

Aw, thanks, Diana. It’s mainly about the fun. I didn’t get anyone to be whimsical and draw a bird, but I hope I at least made them smile.
I just got completely ripped off by Walmart grocery delivery. There has not been any grocery delivery of any kind in this town (no service or store), and this just started. So one expects mistakes. But half my order was missing. AND they still billed me for it. Naturally they hide their contact info. So not only did I not get the things that would have soothed my ulcer (which has of course come back with a vengeance), but the added stress on it instead. I’d like to draw a different bird now. One that consists of my middle finger.
But thanks for visiting. I hope it’s been a brighter day for you. Hugs.

We’re still going to the store, Teagan, and wearing masks and gloves. Then we strip, though our clothes in the wash and take showers (not together. Ha ha). I hope that Walmart gets their deliveries figured out. That would be great for you. Everything feels so surreal!

This flamingo is wonderful, Teagan! Thank you for sharing, but do not force me to the same. It would be a piece of charcoal, instead of an magpie. 😉 Best wishes, and stay save. Michael

🙂 Jinx would be honored if you did try, Michael. But I understand. This is just meant to be silly fun. Have a wonderful whimsical Wednesday. Hugs on the wing!

Its great, i love it, Teagan. But i am a little bit more musican (You are hearing the laughter, in the background? 😉 ), and much more better in typing. Painting or sketching is not really mine. Best wishes, to you too. Hugsx

I’m tickled pink that you like both, Lavinia. Since I mentioned Jinx, I went ahead and left the video and book info from the post I copied. I feel that is my best video, so I’m double glad you liked it. Hugs on the wing.

That’s kind of you, Pat. I see so many people who have genuine talent. But Draw a Bird Day is not about great artistic talent. It’s about playing, and that’s why I like it. One day a year when I can draw something and shamelessly share it. 😀 Great big hug right back!

I think your Flamingo is beautiful, Teagan. Twiggy has a flamingo that is not half as cute. Hugs.

Aw, you’re too kind, John. My poor bird looks like he might have had a tangle with Twiggy. LOL.
But it’s all about the whimsy. Ha, maybe Twiggy can do a post with her flamingo — since she has no thumbs, I think that would do. 😉 Hugs on the wing!

Her flamingo will be pictured tomorrow but not specifically called out. 😊

Thank you kindly, Robbie. Oh, that’s excellent. One of your “eggs” turned long-ways for the body, and a little ball for the head. Oh… I’m thinking fondant, but that’s even better. I look forward to seeing whatever you do. Hugs on the wing!

I like your funky flamingo and love the backstory for Draw a Bird Day. What a beautiful story that seems somehow timely in our current situation. I’m working so I have a good excuse, but maybe I’ll break out the pens and pencils later. Many years ago I liked to doodle. Take care my friend. 🐦

I think your flamingo is pretty awesome, Teagan – far above mediocre. My bird would have to be a stick figure that would look nothing like a bird – no talent whatsoever.

That would still be a bird, Teri. 😉 Have a whimsical Wednesday. Hugs on the wing.

I think your funky flamingo is quite good. Now here’s something odd, spellcheck turned ‘quite’ into ‘guitar’ – maybe your flamingo is messing with me. I’m not very artistic, but I might give this a try later today.
I hope you get over the hump in grand style, safely and with a bit of whiskey. Take care, Teagan.

Auto correct seems to be getting more imaginative every day. Although that flamingo does look like he’d enjoy pranking somebody. 😀 I think not being a great artist is part of the idea with Draw a Bird Day, Dan. Else I wouldn’t be participating. But thank you.
…Ha! Maybe just some wine. My adventure in getting over the hump last week (mentioned off line) seems to have brought back my ulcer. I kept waking up with a tummy ache that went from “slight” around midnight to “time to get up and do something about it” when finally got up at 2:30. Sigh… My adventure (last week) was fun while it lasted though. LOL. Hugs on the wing!
