Welcome, all. Despite the WP jackassery, I managed to get a version of the draft I was writing of this post last week. It’s wonky looking, and they added a bunch of blank “boxes,” and the text looks scrunched-up… But the Scoobies didn’t want their photo session to be wasted. That said, the Scoobies are on hand, bringing cheer to help you over the midweek hump. Dan Antion gave us the Crayola Crayons color Brown for the “Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge” (CFFC). The two cats and I spent the day looking around the house for our favorite “browns.”
Now, I have to hand this post over to the Scoobies.

Velma: What’s your favorite brown, Daphne?
Daphne: I don’t know, Velma. Are you sure that brown is really a color. You shrugged. I guess that would be my answer too.
Velma: When Yummy Human redid our living room this spring, she gave us this new table — to make a window seat big enough for both of us to lounge in the window. Our mat on it is sort of brown too.
Daphne: True. I guess that’s my favorite brown. She moved the drum-coffee-table, and now it’s an end-table instead. I know you liked playing around it better where it used to be. Although… it’s convenient to jump from our window table to it and then to the sofa. Anyhow, that’s another shade of brown, isn’t it?

Velma: Yes. And yes, I’d still call the drum’s wood brown even though it’s sort of golden too.
Daphne: Hey, I know. Let’s look out the side window in our back room. Okay, there’s a strip of brown gravel next door.
Velma: Oh, and our scratching perch is beige with brown sitting-places.

Daphne: I know! Boxes! Boxes are brown. We love boxes. Funny… the boxes keep disappearing.

Velma: You’re right! I busted out that box, and Yummy Human taped it back together — twice. I wonder whatever happened to it…

Daphne: Yeah, me too. Yummy Human, I’m sure you have a brown book cover or two. We’re handing this post back to you now. Zzzzzzzzzz
Nice work, Scoobies. I guess my favorite brown is the mostly brown book cover of my Cornelis Drebbel steampunk novel, “The Alchemist and the Woman in Trousers.” There’s a little more about it below.
Thanks for visiting, everyone. Friendly comments are welcome. Hugs.
Update: Applesauce! I’m blushing. Thank you for the good wishes! Yes, it’s my birthday. Each friendly comment is a gift to me, especially today.
Also, happy Canada Day!

It’s always fun to have the Scoobies run through a colour. (or anything) They are too, cute to mute!
Okay… time for an after dinner coffee. That’s not normal here, but it is soooo hot (120c) with the humidex, that all we want to do is sleep. However, there are things to tend to.
Sending Hugs

Hey, I’m not getting all my comments due to… wait for it… drrrum rollll … a WP issue with comments on my blog.
Dan is having the same issue. With the comments notifier not working, I am having a hard time keeping up.
All I can do is my best, let people know I’m not ignoring them when and if I can, and hope WP fixes the issue soon.

Oh, Teagan, the Scoobies never fail to make me smile! They certainly rose to the challenge of finding “brown” in all its wonderful shades. Velma’s fascination with the box made me laugh out loud!!!! I don’t think cats will ever lose their love of boxes, no matter how many times we tape them back together! And I’m so sorry WordPress decided to play tricks on your post. The story came out beautifully, though. I especially loved seeing Velma and Daphne enjoying their favourite spots around the house. They always seem so content, and it’s a joy to visit with them. And happy birthday! I hope your day was filled with all the things that bring you happiness, including plenty of purrs from the Scoobies. Wishing you a wonderful year ahead!

Thanks so very much, Rebecca. It makes me happy that you enjoyed visiting with us. The Scoobies have been very laidback since the over-hot heat started 5 or 6 weeks ago. (Summer has gotten much longer and a lot hotter than it was when I moved here — and I did climate research before choosing the town/area.) Anyhow, that does add to their attitude of contentment (aka laziness! LOL). But they individually jumped onto the bed this morning for a pet & purr session — they won’t do that together. Then they romped off together to play. That’s the best birthday present there is. Hugs on the wing.

Thanks about the post, Deborah. I spent an unreasonable amount of time fixing it, and gave up on the other ideas I had meant to add after I paused working on it last week… Thanks for the good wish. Hugs.

I always enjoy being absorbed in cat life. They are truly interesting personalities. AND, I learned a new favorite word, bullsh!tery. I’m going to use that frequently if you don’t mind.

Hi, Daniel. They really are, aren’t they… I could observe and study them all day.
LOL. Even though you’ll often find “Teaganese” here, I can’t take credit for bullshitery or jackassery. The former I heard from a coworker (a quiet, petite black woman — she got worked up about something and said “That’s just bullshitery!” It cracked me up. [Thank you Cookie, wherever you are, for the word!] Jackassery I only heard fairly recently, although I don’t remember where.) So, of course I don’t mind. 😀 Thanks for joining the Scoobies and me today. Hugs.

The girls gave us a nice selection of browns. Boxes, I didn’t think of boxes, and I know I have pictures of MiMi and MuMu in boxes. Oh well. next week’s color is black, and I’m sure they’ll be well represented.
I love that book cover, and every page in between the covers.

You are so very kind about the book, Dan — what a splendid thing to say. The Scoobies aren’t as bonkers about boxes as “Cats Past,” but they do like to investigate them (other than Velma’s late lamented tray box — LOL, she loved that one). Black will be another challenge… aside from my piano, I can’t think of anything — yet. Thanks for visiting. Hugs.

The post looks good, Teagan, although I know not quite how you’d like, dear Teagan. I like brown (there are some beautiful woods around, although they vary a lot in colour), and Daphne and Velma’s choices are great too. Thanks for sharing all those brown pictures, thanks to Dan, and thanks for the reminder of another one of your wonderful books. Big hugs and love to the Scoobies!

Thanks for your kind words, Olga. Yeah… we didn’t turn up much brown other than wood. Although I agree that there are some splendid woodgrains to be had. Purrs from the Scoobies, and big hugs back.
