Hello, all. I didn’t have any exercise or other post ready for this weekend, so I thought I’d just share something pretty, and… serene. The day before, I had made the Night Cafe image above. ( I wrote the descriptive prompt “at twilight a harp stands beside a pond where two swans swim. The ruins of a monastery are in the background. Inspired by the style of Abraham Pether.” Okay, my description was a lot more detailed than that, but you get the idea.)
When I decided to include harp music with the image, I realized that I didn’t recall seeing any videos of men playing the harp. I went looking, and here are a few that I found.
Xavier de Maistre – Leyenda (Asturias) YouTube

The video below is Séamus Ó Flatharta at Ballintubber Abbey | Harp Day 2021
For fun (although it’s a pretty amazing rendition), let’s top things off with a Queen cover. Here’s Alexander Boldachev performing Bohemian Rapsody.
Oh heck, go ahead and read a romance novel now. I get it. Or maybe makeup one of your own… maybe set in Scotland of the 1800s where two people are reunited at sunrise, with an ancient abbey on the other side of a stream…

Thanks to my Night Cafe models. I hope your weekend is going well. Friendly comments are welcome. Hugs!

Beautiful images and music. I did not realize how much I like harp music until I came here this evening and listened to Séamus Ó Flatharta.

I’m working on a story that I put on the shelf over a year ago. So I hope to keep up my enthusiasm and still be doing that this weekend. 🙂 A happy weekend to you and yours too.

Hi Teagan, your designs are glorious as always. I love the Bohemian Rhapsody cover. I attended a string quartet concert that did several Queen covers including this song. It works so well with strings.

That sounds like a splendid concert, Robbie. I’m glad you were able to do something like that. It’s unexpected and interesting that many of Queen’s songs work so well in other styles of music. Thanks for visiting. Hugs.

Serenity was on my menu. It’s so cool that you picked up on the harp for this post. Listening to Bohemian Rhapsody right now.
Gorgeous.
Yes… even when it’s frantic, the harp holds a serenity within its strings.
HUGS to you and the Scoobies!

Such pretty music from the harpists here. I’ve always liked harp music. It’s fun to watch them and wondering how they know which strings to pluck. Thanks for featuring men, as I didn’t know any played either. 🙂

Most all good musicians amaze me, Barbara. About 40 years ago at Ren Fest I sat down in a harp-seller’s booth and at least on his, the strings were color coded (I doubt that applies to classical concert harps), and they were in the same order as the notes on a piano. I’ve wanted a large Celtic harp ever since. But it seems that was my only opportunity.
Have a magical new week. Hugs.

Interesting to know about the strings being color coded, at least at first. Makes sense. Wishing you a happy new week also. ❤

I’ve never thought about it before, but I’d never seen a man playing the harp either, only women.
