Hello, all.

Wonderland has been on my mind a lot lately.  Many days, I sort of feel like I’m there.  Maybe I’ll do a cover/tribute of White Rabbit…  Anyhow, it was serendipitous when author D.L. (Denise) Finn posted a creativity challenge with the following image as the prompt.  My head was already there.

CLICK HERE for Denise’s blog and info about the challenge.  (Image below provided by Denise Finn.)

Denise didn’t mention images in her challenge rules — I think she only wanted poems and stories.  (The computer image I made of the Scoobies having tea is my true response to her challenge.) However, I’m providing a limerick.  I’m not a poet, so go ahead and cringe.

In Wonderland’s depths, quite a clatter,

Lives a man known as the Mad Hatter.

With tee times unending,

And rules always bending,

His madness is no laughing matter.

Here’s my song-spiration for this post.  The video below is Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane) performing White Rabbit.

I hope you’ll create some fun of your own.  Thanks to all of you for visiting.  Watch out for rabbit holes.  Have a wonderful rest of the weekend and on Monday a happy Saint Patrick’s Day.  Hugs!

Here’s the obligatory shameless self-promotion.  It’s a quick read/very short story, something my twisting mind saw as an additional, modern-day adventure in Wonderland.

  1. I LOVE your limerick and image with the kitty, Teagan. So happy you joined in and it was a wonderful addition, especially all your Alice stuff. A favorite of mine, although I took a slightly different direction…lol. Hugs xo

    1. Really? I hadn’t seen it anywhere — although I can easily see why. The song is more relevant than ever. Grace Slick has said that the line “‘Feed your head’ is a call to arms for intelligence and education, encouraging people to read some books, pay attention.” And this may be just my own personal take (rather than her intent), but “the ones that mother gives you don’t do anything at all” speaks to me of “gaslighting” (because I grew up with so much of that from my mother — and because there is so much of it now.
For many months I’ve toyed with the idea of recording my cover of White Rabbit, as a tribute only — there will only be one Grace Slick.
The Scoobies send you a purr. Hugs.

  2. Love your poem, Teagan!

It works perfect for the challenge.

The Scoobies are Ultra cute at their tea party.

White Rabbit is a great song. It peaked at #8 on the Billboard 100. It not only tells the story of Alice it defines an era.

Thanks for the fun post! Hugs!

    1. Thanks, Resa. I would have thought it had gotten higher on the charts (although that’s an admirable number). I love the song because it speaks to me on so many different levels. “the ones that mother gives you don’t do anything at all” becomes my shout of defiance against gaslighting. As I was telling Tiffany, for many months I’ve toyed with the idea of recording my cover of White Rabbit, but there will only ever be one Grace Slick so I find the thought intimidating.
The Scoobies send you and Misha a purr. Hugs.

  3. Whether you played by the rules or not, Teagan, I love this post. I love the Scoobies having tea, and I love Grace Slick’s voice in that song. I think your limerick is quite good. Putting them all together here makes for a wonderful post. Thanks. I hope you’re enjoying the weekend.

  4. I’m enjoying everything in this piece!

Perfect to warm up a cold, cloudy, and windy Ides of March. (Especially love the Scoobies. 🙂)

    1. It’s great to see you, Susan. We had “spring” throughout winter, but this weekend it’s actually wintry. That’s close enough to actual spring for that to be ironic to me.
Thanks very much! I’m happy you enjoyed this hodgepodge of Wonderland-related things. Hugs.

  5. I’m definitely not a poet, Teagan, but I enjoyed yours, and loved the Scoobies and the song as well. I am not sure I’ve read the short story either, so I got it, just in case! Have a lovely weekend, big hugs, love to Daphne and Velma, and thanks to Denise for such an imaginative and inspiring challenge. ♥

    1. You are far too kind, Olga — thank you.
I’ve been enjoying your short dove videos on Youtube. I’m a little bit of a “people watcher” so I’m also having fun seeing the people stroll by outside. Hugs winging back to you.
