It’s All About Indie!
Welcome, my chuckaboos! Come on in and join this fandango. To me, sharing indie books is simply rum ti tum with the chill off! It’s so much better to celebrate my friends than to bubble around. There certainly is a lot to celebrate. So, pour yourself a mug of oh be joyful, but try not to get blootered just yet — you need to know what we’re toasting. Is my liberal use of Victorian slang a clue about one of the things in this post?
It might seem like I’ve been publishing like mad this year, but it’s really that I’m finally finishing some things. Yes, book of The Armadillo Files is new, but the serial started about a year ago. Dead of Winter, as many of you remember, started in 2010. Today I’m announcing a non-fiction book I started in 2016.
Not wanting to hog the spotlight, I’m featuring a few friends who have books that are new or coming soon. Congratulate Robbie Cheadle on her just-released book. Also, S.R. Mallery, who offers another free book, and Dan Antion on his soon to be released second book.
About the Books
Announcing Speak Chuckaboo!
Slang of the Victorian and Steam Eras
Teagan Ríordáin Geneviene

Back in the days of steam engines and mannerly people, a chuckaboo was one’s dear friend. This volume contains slang from the Victorian Era, as well as the Steam Era, which began before the reign of Queen Victoria, and continued into the early 1900s. It combines language from the Victorian, Edwardian, and Steam Eras because there was a great deal of overlap.
This slang dictionary also contains a sprinkling of vocabulary words of those eras, which have fallen out of use, along with some history and trivia. Have fun speaking chuckaboo. You’re positively rum ti tum with the chill off! Simply hunky dory.

I’m so flattered that you remember that, Pat. I hoped to be “bookizing” the Delta Pearl by now, but after “Dead of Winter”, that’s a bigger editing project than I’m ready to tackle. Thanks for your encouragement, my chuckaboo! Hugs on the wing.

I’ve been having similar problems, Pat. I had been blaming it on my combination of lemon computer and slow Internet. But if you’re having similar issues… I remember one follower a couple of years ago, who was a computer wiz. She said WordPress (a change to it) was eating up huge amounts of her computer’s resources. I’m thinking they’ve made yet another “improvement” that slows us down so far that our computers can’t move as fast as WordPress — and so, WP doesn’t capture our “likes”, comments, etc before our computers time out. That’s my theory and I’m sticking with it. 😉

Sounds plausible to me. There are days I really do not like WP.

How fun! Learning some of the slang from a different era would be a kick. I’ve always been curious about how you became interested in this topic.

Hi Pete. It really was a hoot to share bits of this with friends, as I collected it. Those Victorians were not as straightlaced as they’re made out to be! Maybe my fascination with bygone slang is related to my obsession with names and their meanings… I had always heard a few bits of Victorian slang (bladerdash!) and 1920s (you’re the cat’s pajamas). However, I became very interested shortly after my first published novel in 2012. I was reading a fantasy set in the 1920s and the heroine used the expression pos-i-lutely. I was hooked.
Thanks for reading and commenting, my chuckaboo! Hugs on the wing.
