Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Victorian girl turkey dress-up

In my country, tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day.  I’m giving thanks for all of you no matter where you are.  Despite the many times “we” (as a country or segments of the population) have brought shame upon ourselves, I’m also thankful to live here, to have been born here.

I’m grateful for each reader who follows The Armadillo Files.  So are Fang, Dilly, and TROLLEY.  It’s wonderful to visit with you each weekend through the comments.

To everyone who “journeys” with Emlyn and me in the “Dead of Winter” series, I am overwhelmed with gratitude.  Many parts of my life shaped this epic, even though I wasn’t aware of just how much when I wrote the original ten years ago.  Last week I published the eleventh installment.

Yes, I had already written most of the huge manuscript, but as the journeys progress, I’m writing more and more new material.  It seems that the story wasn’t quite as “finished” as I thought when I began this project a year ago.  That makes your wonderful encouragement even more vital.  So, thank you again.

Dead of Winter: Journey 11, the Sumelazon Escarpment

The Blurb

Meet a new character in this Journey of Dead of Winter.  She is a Deae Matres whose encounter with Gethin Gwilym has an unexpected result.  Next in Pergesca, we get better acquainted with a noblewoman or a “HaDritak,” who is an old friend of Zasha.  She has a few tricks up her sleeves.

Emlyn sees and experiences places, customs, and foods that are foreign to her.  One of her gifts is growing.

As the conclusion of Emlyn’s “Journeys” draws near, we see that our heroes are underdogs.  They are out-manned, “out-spirited,” and under-powered — physically, magically, and politically.  With no other recourse, they make use of deception and manipulation.  Although, how can that possibly be enough?

Hugs on the wing!

  2. Lovely post on gratitude, Teagan, and I feel the same as you do. Though the news shows us all the bad stuff and we all have mountains to climb, there is always something to be thankful for. My list of things to be grateful for is never-ending. Congrats on Journey 11 and the cover is fabulous just like all of your creations.

  3. We don’t do Thanksgiving, letting our turkeys get a bit more obese in time for Christmas but that doesn’t mean I can’t thank you for the madcap rollercoaster and wish you a happy Thanksgiving of your own, whatever shape and form it might take! To Arms and Tally Ho!!

  5. Happy Thanksgiving, Teagan. I love Journey 11 and will write a review, possibly next week. I lovehow the characters are developing and I cheer on Emlyn as she grows into the person she was meant to be. As the Navy would say, Bravo Zulu for a job well done.
