Tintern Abbey, South Window, by Frederick Calvert, 1815. Color tomfoolery by Teagan
Tintern Abbey, South Window, by Frederick Calvert, 1815. Color tomfoolery by Teagan

Happy hump day everybody.  June has flown by for me.  I guess that’s just as well, because if it had lingered, it would have been burned to a crisp.  I know I’m not the only one talking about the heat, and I do know that I’m fortunate, but it’s still stinkin’ hot!

Thinking of anything to do with winter is a way to combat the heat. Right now, I’m too psyched to care. Those of you who have been reading “Dead of Winter” from the beginning know that we’ve been going with these novelettes for six months now.  I’m so grateful that you’ve been on these Journeys with me.  Pat over at e-Quips blog had great timing.  Here’s her marvelous review that covers all six of the existing novelettes! Don’t worry — no spoilers.  Here’s to you, Pat. Cheers!

Anita Dawes has also been part of the journeys from the beginning. Here’s her lovely review of Journey 6, The Fluting Fell  at “Books and Bonsai.” Here’s to Jaye and Anita.  Salut!

Also, Priscilla Bettis and D.L. Finn also did fabulous reviews at Amazon.  Here’s to you both, Denise and Priscilla. Skoal! If I keep crowing, I’ll turn into some kind of female rooster. No such thing? That’s why I write fantasy.

Emlyn’s world doesn’t get any less strange as the travelers continue into the Revenant Pass.  This cover brings in several elements that have been hinted at in previous Journeys.  Emlyn stands in the foreground of massive ruins — I won’t spoil things by saying what used to be there.  Her developing abilities are put to the test.  Zasha is transfixed by the vision ahead of her — a fabled trio, the Three, which the mysterious watcher has mentioned. However, the full impact of that won’t hit her until Journey 8: The Lost Library

The steampunk riverboat that has been my blog serial for two years concludes this weekend.  It’s a triple-length episode, so be ready to put your feet up and enjoy the ride.  The Delta Pearl finally comes back into dock.

Wishing everyone an easy coast down the other side of this midweek hump.  Hugs on the wing!

    1. Hi, Robbie. I know your plate is overflowing. The “Journeys” continue, but the great thing is that you can hop on or off as needed, knowing they are still available. I’m delighted that you are part of them.
Thanks about the cover. I’ve always found the combination of purple and yellow to be eye-catching. Perhaps it also catches new readers.
I appreciate you taking time to visit. Hugs on the wing!

    1. Hi Ms. Frances. I replied to you yesterday, but between the WordPress “gremlins” and my bad Internet, my own comment got lost.
It’s always a treat to see you. I hope you’re doing well.
This cover is more colorful than the others, but Emlyn is finally getting to places in the overall Journey where she can wear colors. The purple flowers are part of the story setting. I was happy to finally be able to use a lot of colors. Thanks for commenting. Hugs on the wing

  2. Journey 7! Still you have a ways to go. This is good, as I am finally almost finished 1 of the books I promised to read before I read Dead Of Winter. There’s only 2…lol…
Oh No! The Delta Pearl is docking. It will be a shock after all this time.
Okay, let me do some dishes and read another chapter in the promised book. I will come back to read the reviews!
    People are really into you serial. {{{Hugs}}}

    1. Thanks, Staci. The wisteria was part of my “tomfoolery.” I’m glad to know I made the effect that I had in mind. This cover is brighter than the others, but that let me include the story elements I wanted. Thanks for visiting. Hugs on the wing!

  3. Thanks for the shout-out. I think this new cover is my favorite Journey’s Cover to date. I’m looking forward to both of the next Journeys–the title of Journey 8 really has me sitting on the edge of my seat . Cooling hugs sliding your way on huge ice cubes.

    1. My pleasure, Pat. Ha! I knew the word “Library” would grab you. Journey 8 is when the real “fantasy” element begins to kick-in. Magic and ghostly moments have been getting stronger and more frequent. By the time #8 gets here there’s no doubt that it’s a fantasy. Stay safe and well. Hugs winging back to you!

    1. My pleasure, Priscilla. I started out with the intention of explaining the cover. Oh well, that will give me something to talk about later. 🙂 Thanks for being part of these journeys, and for being on the riverboat. Hugs on the wing!

  4. The cover is wonderful, Teagan. I am ready for the next journey. I think I’m ready for the Delta Pearl to sail for the last time, but it will be bittersweet.

I hope the heat gives you a break, and I hope you slide, rather than melt into the weekend.
    Hugs!

    1. Thanks so much, Dan. Our forecast has 100 degree days for the rest of the week. Something major must be expected Monday, because the temp is amazingly below the 90s. I hope we get some rain out of it. It’s been a long, long time since it rained…
LOL, melt into the weekend! 😀 That’s about right. Thanks for taking time to visit. Hugs on the wing!

    1. I’m happy to know you’ll be there. It’s going to feel strange not writing the Pearl after two years… But I have started another steampunk story. It’s going to be on Amazon’s Villa. I’m hoping for some new exposure there.
I’ll take a short break from blog serials, but there will be another one — next time totally from scratch, fueled by random reader things. That also means that I have absolutely no idea what it will be! 😀 Thanks for reading and commenting. Hugs on the wing!

    1. Thanks very much, Denise! Journey 7 isn’t as long as 6. The stopping point for making it a good novelette just came sooner. Ha, but hopefully that will let me get back on schedule with it. Stay safe and well. Hugs on the wing!

  5. Congratulations, Teagan! I know you deserved the great reviews. And the covers are fabulous, I agree. Looking forward to future journeys, and, of course, to the closing of the Delta Pearl (even though I’ll miss it terribly)!
