Hodgepodge! 

Hodgepodge might be a good title for this post, because there’s so much I want to share! I’ve started combining Wednesdays and Thursdays so that I can participate in the Thursday Doors posts, hosted by Dan Antion, and still keep my normal blog schedule.  (Granted, during a book launch I’m sharing extra posts, in support of those who are helping me.)  Today I’m showing two doors, or Teaganizations of doors anyway.

Today I’m also visiting with the amazing Diana Wallace Peach at her blog, Myths of the Mirror.  Diana is interviewing me, and we’re having a blast.

As many of you know, I’ve just launched the first in a collection of serialized novelettes, Dead of Winter: Journey 1, Forlorn Peak.  That’s why Diana is interviewing me.  She had terrific interview questions, that really bring out different elements in Dead of Winter. 

By the way, on Friday Gwen Plano is hosting me for a fun visit too.  Her questions are completely different from Diana’s or Pat’s.

With Dead of Winter, I call the installments Journeys, because the characters travel across the complex world I built, experiencing new cultures and meeting new people. These journeys will publish approximately monthly.  Length will range from 30 to 60 pages, or so.

    1. Thanks, Robbie. I’m having fun with my version of Thursday Doors. These book doors might become my regular feature.

  5. Teagan, I’m loving the photos of the book covers as doors / gates … just makes me want to step into the new worlds! Your interview with Diana was superb and congratulations on the brilliant review. I wish you the best of luck with this new concept of serialised novelettes and can well imagine you are starting a new trend in modern-day publishing!

  8. You are so creative, Teagan. And Hodgepodge is the story of our lives, isn’t it? A Hodgepodge of everything to keep “it” – life, our stories, our experiences, our blogs – interesting. Loved the interview over at Diana’s. Love the idea of your “journeys.” First one is waiting for me in my Kindle!

    1. Hi Jesh! Ha — Diana wouldn’t have foreseen the chaos of yesterday, but her title fits this year, and certainly had some kind of roar coming from me. Then I started a (mental) rant at everyone who told me this would never happen. Saying “I told you so” doesn’t make me feel better. But blogger visits make me feel better. 😀 Happy New Year and hugs on the wing!

  12. Hodgepodge is such a good word and there’s nothing like a good book/door cover to excited and entice the imagination. I still haven’t been to the library in person and while I’m thankful for e-books (and using the heck out of the online checkout), I miss being able to browse and see those book covers and titles.

    Sorry that the last year was a bad place for you and I can only imagine the dismay (too light a word, but…) at finding Martin had used the phrase so key to your novel. I’m glad you’re making a recovery and wish you all the best.

    1. Hi Janet! Thanks so much. I know. There’s nothing like walking into an entire building bursting with books. I always felt a sense of reverence in libraries. Prowling through Goodreads.com, or browsing Amazon and filling a cart is easy and great, but it doesn’t touch all the senses the way good book stores and libraries do.
      My Dead of Winter serial/series introduces the Society of Deae Matres. They’re basically the librarians of that world… butt-kicking librarians. 😉

    1. You are so kind, Tim. That means a lot to me. I’ve been in such a “bad place” for over a year… this launch going well is helping me. I think making this epic book into monthly installments will be good to let me see a finished product every month. (Although I won’t be doing a real launch for the other journeys — just a publication announcement.)

      1. I think we will all have a better year. I need to get back to working on my La Llorona paper. I have to present it in a couple of months. I’m having too much fun with photography, music and cats. Then there’s getting ready to move the office, which is happening close to the same time my paper is due. Never a dull moment.

  25. I’ll be heading over to Diana’s place directly. Thanks for including a Thursday Doors theme to your post. That challenge is coming out of hibernation tomorrow. I think your doors are great and I like the way you weave them in.
