Thursday Doors — in Thistledown!

Thursday Doors is a weekly feature allowing door lovers to come together to admire and share their favorite door photos from around the world. Bloggers around the world create their own Thursday Doors post each week.  Beginning this week, Dan Antion is the new host. 

Many of you know that Dan is my frequent “partner in crime” — he lets me use his photographs.  I will continue to be a follower of Thursday Doors, rather than a participant.  However, I’m doing a post today, to celebrate Dan’s new role.

Readers named characters for Thistledown — Midsummer Bedlam, although sometimes I created the name for them (and a few already had their own faery name). The name game-chart I made gave back something absurdly inappropriate for Dan, so I named a character in his honor — Carver Eastdoor.

Carver can magically get wood to take whatever form he wants. I used Dan’s photo above to represent a special gateway door Carver made.  However, a family heirloom, a huge battleax, comes into his possession. You’ll have to read the book to learn more about that — and the fate of the beautiful candy door.

Bedlam Thunder (the heroine) is a seer, and that ability takes her through several strange and unexpected doors.  Slide show below.

For those of you who weren’t around when it was a serial, Thistledown is a wildly whimsical tale of faeries.  However, lest you think you’re too old for that stuff, it also has a dark side.

For the anti-Amazon among us, I’ve uploaded the book to Kobo. They say it’s available, but it doesn’t show up on my searches, and neither do I as an author… I can’t say I’m happy with my two experiences with them.

On Wednesday, here in Bavaria we are starting into a new lockdown. Only on Christmas its allowed to visit the church. Lol Sorry, but this is the last thing i will do. Neither Jesus nur the Holy Ghost will prevent the virus. Look at the Pope’s meaning!;-)

      1. You did a great job, Teagan. Doing a doors post was a nice welcome to Dan. Like you, I have been reading his posts forever – including his Thursday Door posts. Because of Dan, I found Norm. Lucky me! It is very fitting that Norm has handed the reins to Dan.

    1. Yes indeed, GP. Dan sent me a new photo to use on this weekend’s chapter.
      However, I like to promote people in general, and readers who help me in particular. So of course, I had to introduce Dan. I have different readers for midweek posts, who never comment at the weekend. Besides… you never know who might be out there, brand new, but quiet. Hey, Tor Books? Are you out there? Yoohoo?

    1. Thanks, John. And thanks about the slide show. The darned thing is hard to work with, especially placing it in the middle of a “classic block”. But maybe it’s a matter of getting used to the tedious details. Tummy rubs to Twiggy and Lucy. Hugs on the wing!

      1. That photos was on the T&L blog not as easy to link to. No problem. When I saw I was trying to remember when I posted that photo. I looked it up and it was October 22, 2015. A lot has happened since then.

    1. Thanks, Deborah. 🙂 It’s been many years since I’ve been able to get out and about very well — and with the COVID Apocalypse, I don’t go out at all — so I haven’t participated in this photo oriented group. But maybe I can do one occasionally with “doors” from my stories. Hugs on the wing.
