Welcome to Hidebound Hump Day, my chuckaboos!
Those prim, straightlaced, hidebound Victorians would never talk about this… but I hope to give you midweek entertainment with my mishap. It could make a stuffed bird laugh.
Here’s the spew. It was Monday morning, and I had slept very poorly (that happens a lot these days). One cup of Joe didn’t make much impact on my get-up-and-go.
After drowsily dressing, I treated myself to a second cup of coffee. I crawled to the middle of my bed, where I sat doing computer work. I got a nice (apparently large) sip of wakey juice. Well wouldn’t you know — a mischievous, minuscule drop got ahead of the rest and went down the wrong way. The result was me spewing coffee all over myself and the bed.
I guess the coffee did the trick, if not in the intended way. After the hurricane of coughing, I jumped up to throw the clothes in the washer. I hurried to soak up the bath of brew that had gushed onto the bed in front of me.
It wasn’t until hours later that I found the full effect of the java spout. The 90 degree splash zone of the spew speckled everything to my left. So in addition to the bed and blanket, it was blasted onto the bookcase, the basket, the baseboards. Coffee bean brown dried determinedly into the texture on the light yellow wall. It was a chore to clean those tiny crevices, believe me. That was about all I managed to accomplish Monday (besides writing this blog post).
I need to get a wiggle on and finish Chapter 1 of The Delta Pearl! Thanks to Dan Antion for letting me use as many of his photographs as I can to illustrate the serial.
If you couldn’t make it over the weekend, here is the beginning installment, the Prologue of The Delta Pearl.
I hope to see you at the dock this weekend for Chapter 1 — Dance. Meanwhile have a wonderful Wednesday.
Now for the obligatory shameless self-promotion…
