You may have already seen this post. It is one of a series of monthly guest spots I’ve been doing at The Story Reading Ape’s blog. I’m adding it here to my Motivational section. Since it’s “been done” be sure to visit at the Ape’s tree-house. Just click here.
Thriving Thursdays: Adjust Accordingly
I was delighted when our Ape in Chief invited me to the tree-house to do a mini-series. Those of you who know me, are used to seeing me write fiction for my blog, Teagan’s Books. However, for these posts, I’m sharing my “office” side. While it’s not part of my job at the moment, I’ve written a log of motivational messages. I continued that via my LinkedIn blog where I do mini posts.
We’re inundated with information. That can result in a lot of gigo… garbage in — garbage out. Yet one person’s trash is another person’s treasure. When I stumbled across this quote, I thought it was a little gem. Let’s give it a try.
Make a list of things that make you happy.
Make a list of things you do every day.
Compare the lists.
Adjust accordingly.
Enough said.
Wishing everyone a thriving Thursday,
Teagan

What a great idea Teagan. Thank you so much. I’ll try to make a list .

Hi Gerlinde. I think I might need to “adjust accordingly” every day! LOL. I hope you are having a marvelous Monday. Mega hugs!

Just a wonderful quote, Teagan. Never heard it before, but one to certainly keep close to us. As for The Outer Limits – well, you know where I’m coming from on that, being the huge fan of The Twilight Zone that I am. Will have to check the series out on YouTube, again.
Hope you’re having a thriving weekend.
Hugs,

Thanks Hugh — it’s great to see you, any day of the week. I tried to find the origin of that adage, because I hate to show a quote without crediting, but couldn’t find anything. Anyhow, many times readjusting our perceptions is key to coping… to thriving. Thanks for taking a moment to visit. Hugs.

Well. whoever wrote it deserves a pat on the back, Teagan. It’s such a simple quote, but one many of us would never think of. Not so, anymore, for me. 😀

Lovely inspirational words, Teagan. In the case of myself, however, the phrase “I give myself very good advice but I very seldom follow it.” springs to mind.

Ha! I know what you mean, Robbie. My only purpose with these mini posts is to encourage. So when we don’t follow our own suggestions… adjust accordingly and try again. 😉 Hugs.

I’ll try this, Teagan, but I’m afraid it’s going to make me sad. I hope you have a wonderful Thursday-Friday-Saturday-Sunday – Big Hug!

Sorry Dan.
I admit that I’ve been trying to “adjust accordingly” (and failing) for 5 years… But I am trying. Have a fabulous Friday — it’s almost here. Mega hugs.

Alternatively, make a list of all that’s wrong, all the negative things. Then list the polar opposites — how you want it to be. Then burn the negative list. It’s symbolic but helpful. But if your list is as long as mine, be very very careful burning it! 😀

i suppose, coalescing those ideas you have garbage in, adjust accordingly.. Much like my first drafts

Ha! That’s one way of looking at it, I guess, Geoff. Although I can’t believe any of your ideas are garbage. 😀
For me, it’s the negative self-talk that manages to play inside my head, no matter how I try to think good thoughts. If I let that garbage in, other garbage will come out as a result…
Good luck choosing your book cover. You’ve got great designs already. Have a thriving Thursday!

What awesome advice! My problem is that I already do what I enjoy – I write all day, and I’m getting recliner-butt. Ha ha. What I need is motivation to exercise and clean my house. ***Hugs, Teagan***

Ha!!! I could use the same thing, believe me. I’m not sure how we can apply the quote to housework — I can’t think of any chore that I particularly like.
I guess we could use another old adage — “Let’s say we did, but don’t.” Thanks for visiting, Diana. Mega hugs.

Trying trying trying to thrive, thank you, Teagan and Chris for the Thursday boost, I need it because so far today I feel like “This must be Thursday,’ said Arthur to himself, sinking low over his beer. ‘I never could get the hang of Thursdays.” ~Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
Wishing you a terrific, thriving Thursday, dear Teagan!
Mega adjust accordingly hugs xoxox

Donna, I’m delighted to see you. Thanks so much for reading and commenting. I love the Douglas Adams quote — it’s one of my favorites.
I always say that in doing these posts, I’m encouraging myself as much as others. (Shakes head) That seems to get truer each day this year. So I’m right there with you, *trying* to thrive. Right now I’d feel l was thriving if I could just get rid of the headache I’ve had for two weeks.
So we will encourage one another. Thank you thank you for visiting. Mega hugs right back. 🙂

It’s great to see you Olga. I’m just reblogging here from my monthly post at The Story Reading Ape. I realized that I wanted to have them searchable on my blog.
Happily these little posts have been well received at the “tree house”, so the intended “mini series” is now scheduled up into the summer. I have a few weeks of reblogging to catch up, but I’m only posting them on Thursdays.
Have a thriving Thursday! Say hello to your mom for me. Mega hugs 🙂
