NaNoWriMo — Prison of Your Word Count

Nanowrimo 1There are just a handful of days left for National Novel Writing Month 2013.  Is your muse roaming free and supplying you with details?  Or are you trapped in the prison of your word count?  Are your ideas orderly?  Or did your train of thought chug away to parts unknown?

A rhythm helps — a steady, quick beat.  Can you hear that?  It’s your word count going up.  In time for you to finish NaNoWriMo and win.  Can you hear it coming?  It’s rolling ’round the bend.

 Now WriMo-mo-mo!

Because that NaNoWriMo train keeps rolling…

(Okay… so I admit that my “stay-cation” is over and being back at work inspired the prison theme.  But it was still a fun song.)

  1. You’re on the homestretch now! It’s super inspiring to read your reflections on the writing process, and the Marathon that is NaNoWriMo. I’m cheering you on!

    1. Wow Shirley, you just made my day! Thank you. 🙂

I went ahead and “validated” my WriMo draft. Last year my novel was very nearly done – needed little editing [after NaNoWriMo]. But I designed that one in every way to be something I could do fast, and that would be short. This year I just did the story that came to me in inspiration. Mistake. It is a big story. So this draft is extremely rough, and will need sooo much work and polishing… I don’t regret it. However, it’s not instant gratification.
