Whatnot Wednesday: The Scoobies & the Color Orange #CFFC

Hello, everyone. The Scoobies are on hand, bringing cheer to help you over the midweek hump.  Dan Antion gave us the Crayola Crayons color orange for “Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge” (CFFC).  The Scoobies and I spent the day looking around the house for our favorite “oranges,” but we had to use our imaginations. I really thought there was more orange in this house.

Now, I have to hand this post over to the Scoobies.

Velma:   So that’s what a Crayola Crayon is… they smell interesting. They’re orange, but not oranges. They smell better than oranges. I don’t like citrus.

Daphne:   I don’t like citrus either, but I smell something else, and it isn’t crayons or oranges.  Although… I see that it’s orange.  Yummy Human, what the dog hill are you doing?   I guess those crazy socks are your contribution to this color quest for orange.

Velma:   Hey, Yummy Human — what else ya got there.  We haven’t seen that.  What?  You’ve had it in the closet all these years?  Ah… You don’t need scarves here the way you did when you were in DC.   Daphne!  What are you doing?  I didn’t get a chance at it.

Daphne:  Ooooooo this is so nice, Yummy….  Ooo, purr, I have to stick out my claws and make kitten-biscuits in it.  Oooooo, purr...  Can I keep it?  What do you mean “No.”  How could you refuse me anything?   

Woah! Did you just get the “root” out?  It has an orange label.  Yes, it says Valerian Root.   Woot, woot! Root!

Velma:   Yeah, but Yummy’s not going to show that picture.  She’s afraid some human will do something stupid.  Sigh… I like root almost as much as you do.  Oh, but she just turned on our favorite YouTube channel — Squirrels at the Window. 

Daphne:  We both like to watch that.  We turn around whenever that opening screen comes on.  We know what it means.  Look, it has orange framing it.

Velma:  Is that all the orange we’ve got? I have a funny feeling…  (WHISPERS) Pssst…! Daphne, I get the feeling that we’re missing something obvious.

Daphne:  (WHISPERS)  What do you mean by obvious, Velma?  You mean… us?  Some people call us “orange tabbies” instead of ginger?

Yes, Scoobies.  A lot of people say “orange tabby” but I always thought “ginger” was a better description of your beautiful fur.  And you both are definitely my favorite “Orange.”

  3. Hi Teagan! Long time, no talk! I love your beautiful orange Scoobies. Reminds me of Spike from long ago. His fur stuck straight up as a baby, so the family that I got him from called him Spike and I never changed it. Hope all is well with you.

    1. Thank you, Edward. Haha, those orange socks have been surprisingly well received. So much so that I’ve looked online for a pair of silly purple socks… but didn’t find the right ones. I have a purple pair (not argyle), but they don’t seem as fun. (Next week’s color is purple.) We’ll see if anything turns up. If only I could access that magical portal that single socks seem to find inside the dryer that takes them to another dimension… 😉 Have a splendid weekend. Hugs and purrs.

  8. I love the Pip stories. She is such a strong and interesting female character. Peach counts in my opinion. Thank you for sharing my Neema book cover. I still love this giraffes 🧡. I’ve been trying very hard, but I haven’t been able to write anything (fiction or nonfiction) since that berserk backup system destroyed so much of my work. I keep trying, but…

        1. That’s a good idea. I know I should try something, even other kinds of creativity. But I’m so apathetic… and I hate being that way. I actually think it’s dangerous to physical health. I’m sure I’ll shake it off eventually.

      Creativity: Orange is said to send more oxygen to the brain. This gets your mind working and helps you think of new ideas.
      Emotions: It is used to help people let go of sadness, grief, or fear. It encourages a playful and positive outlook.
      Energy: Think of it like drinking a cup of coffee. It stimulates the body, relieves muscle cramps, and helps with digestion.

      I’ve come to like it more in recent years, and based on all that, I think I need more of it around. 🙂 Hugs.

  13. Teagan, your Scoobies always know how to brighten the day! I had such fun following Velma and Daphne on their search for all things orange. It reminded me that creativity often begins by looking at ordinary things with fresh eyes. The ginger kitties, the socks, the crayons, and even the orange book cover all became part of one delightful adventure. Thank you for giving me another smile in the middle of the week and for creating such a warm, imaginative world for all of us. Sending hugs on speedy wings to you and the Scoobies. I love tagging along on your many colourful adventures!

    1. Hi, Rebecca. I love what you said about “looking at ordinary things with fresh eyes.” That’s part of what I’ve been trying to do with these posts. Since I can’t get out and about to take photos, I’ve tried to focus on mundane objects — and hoping to make them entertaining. Next week, the Scoobies have to look for things that are purple!     1. Yes, indeed, Liz! I should have included a link, but it’s easy enough to search. “Squirrels at the Window” is the name of the channel. The woman who does the videos recently announced that she’s taking a break, but her many charming short videos are still there. The Scoobies start paying attention as soon as they see that logo screen. Hugs.

  19. Great job, Scoobies! And the first thing I thought of that was orange was the two of you. Of course Garfield reminded me that he is very orange with shadings on his tail…

    Around here, orange is not a favorite color on the UNC campus since Clemson, a hard competitor, is solid orange.

Sants 3 Ràdio, the local radio station O collaborate with, has orange as it’s identifying colour, so I’ve grown very fond of it, and I find it very cheerful!     I was wondering when you were going to mention the orange kitty girls. Ginger is color that is lost on me, like chartreuse. This is why I didn’t go for the Crayola box of 64, I would still only have 8 posts.

    I love the oranges the girls gathered. Thanks for letting them play along with us. I hope you have an easy climb up and over the hump.

    1. I almost didn’t mention their coat color, Dan, but I changed my mind and went back to add that part. As for chartreuse, that color is lost on a lot of people.
      Daphne really surprised me with her immediate reaction to that scarf. She was so cute. I felt guilty for taking it away from her. Hugs. 🤗 😺😸
