Welcome, all. The Scoobies are on hand, bringing cheer to help you over the midweek hump.  Dan Antion posted so many beautiful examples of yellow for his “Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge” (CFFC) that, with some encouragement from Daphne and Velma, I decided to participate.  The Scoobies and I spent the day looking around the house for our favorite “yellows.”  That’s my favorite yellow above.  That yellow barrel cactus has grown a lot in the past few years.  It was smaller than a soccer ball for years, and then suddenly started growing. Now I guess it’s about 15 inches across.

Now, I have to hand this post over to the Scoobies.

Daphne:   My yellow cactus is better.  It doesn’t have needles — it feels good to scrub on it.  That’s my favorite yellow.

Velma:   That scrubber is old news, Daphne.  We’re supposed to be finding “Yellows” around the house.  What else is there?  Oh wait, remember those tassel earrings that Yummy Human wouldn’t let us play with?  That’s a fun yellow.

Velma:  What about the new slipcovers Yummy put out this spring?  They’re part yellow.  You know the yellow print on them.  See? Right here on the one on the bench.

Daphne:  Good eye, Velma.  The same print’s on a white background on the sofas.  See, I’m pointing at it with my tail.  But I know that is not your favorite yellow.  You should be ashamed… you’re absolutely cray-cray for that fake egg stuff Yummy Human has for breakfast sometimes.  Honestly… what kind of cat would eat “plant based” pretend eggs?

Velma:  But Daphne… they’re sooo good…  I can’t help myself.  Yep, that’s my favorite yellow alright.

Daphne:  Hey, Yummy.  Please tell me you have a favorite yellow besides that cactus.  What? You used to have yellow high-top tennis shoes.  You’ve got to be kidding me.  You’re as nuts as Velma.

I didn’t have a photo, but Night Cafe helped me make this pair that looks a lot like the “most loved” shoes I ever owned.

Nice work, Scoobies.  I have one more image.  I imagined a yellow utopia city, and wrote my description of it at Night Cafe.  I made several versions.  Here’s one below.

    1. Hi, Edward. I’m happy you could join us. Oh, yes and I like them very well. I have Just Egg for breakfast a few times a week. I’m terribly allergic to eggs (something that happened suddenly when I was about 40 — weird, I know). I haven’t found any other alternative that I can really use. (Years ago I learned to make tofu “scrambled eggs,” but I became sensitive to a plate full of soy…)

      Pros: Just Egg is from “mung bean” rather than soy. They’re quick and easy (the frozen version). I wrap it in a paper towel and microwave. The box states they can be put in a toaster, but I don’t want to try that… And it’s true that Velma is nuts for them. LOL.

      Cons: They’re expensive (for the amount of food you’re buying), and the serving size is small. About the size of a single medium egg. If I cut it into little squares, it will cover a slice of bread though.

      I have not tried the liquid kind in the carton. If you’re on the fence, go ahead and try them. I hope you’ve had a thriving Thursday. Thanks for commenting. Hugs.

      1. Thank you for the explanation, and I’m definitely buying them next time. I like the ones that you bought because I can keep them in the freezer, unlike the liquid which probably needs to be used within 7 days of opening.

    1. Robbie, those were the most comfortable shoes ever. 😀 I got a fair amount of teasing about them, but I didn’t care in the least.

  3. Oh Teagan!!! What a wonderful post that features the colour that Vincent loved so much. Velma and Daphne led us on a very exciting search for yellow. What could have been a simple colour exercise became a lovely story told through photographs, dialogue, and imagination. I especially enjoyed how ordinary objects like the tassel earrings, the slipcovers, the shoes, and even the plant-based eggs, became part of the adventure. By the end, I felt as though I had been looking at the world through the eyes of two curious cats.

    1. Thanks, Resa. The print seems “loud” to some people, but I love colors. Plus I just needed to look at something different in that room.

    1. Thanks John. It’s about doubled in size fairly suddenly. I have a large barrel of the regular variety, and I’m sad that it is not doing well (from the original ones). It’s as if that one is shriveling from the inside. There’s also an exotic (?) prickly pear (that came the same time as the yellow one). It used to have a yellow cast to it. It has ruffly “ears”. It stayed in size about 8 wide X 12 inches tall. Now, suddenly it’s getting huge. It’s about 3 feet wide now and still growing. And the guy put it right by the door… so it will soon be a problem…

    1. A new one? No, I haven’t seen that, Pat. I’ll keep an eye out. Two or three years ago they were supposed to be doing a TV series focused on the Velma character, but as far as I know, that doesn’t seem to have gotten off the ground. Hugs.

        1. Ice skating? I’m impressed — maybe because I’m so uncoordinated. Before (and during) the yellow sneakers era, I had orchid-purple cowboy boots. They were so very comfortable that I wore them so much and for so many years that I lost count of how many times I had the heels replaced. 😻

          1. I haven;t ice skated in years. My balance is so awful now that I wouldn’t try it although my grandson wants me to skate with him!

            I had a pair of sports shoes I had resoled many times. You love what you love!

  14. I love your cactus, Teagan! I keep telling my mother I want one like that one when we walk past the flower shop, but we don’t have enough space (or an outdoors garden) to have it. I don’t often wear yellow, but it is a very cheerful color and I do like Velma and Daphne’s choices as well. Thanks for brightening up my Wednesday, dear Teagan! Big hugs and love to the Scoobies!

  15. That cactus is amazing, Teagan. I didn’t know such a thing existed. I always picture cactus looking like the ones in Roadrunner cartoons or western movies.

    Good to see Jinx again. I still love that story.
