WHEN are We? And an Oracle

2 Ginger cats are doctors in a bedroom by Teagan via Night Cafe
     Doctors Daphne and Velma

Hello, everyone.  Don’t bother with that mask — germs don’t spread via computer.  At least not yet.  All week, I’ve been down with an allergy/asthma/cold thing.  Granted, after a solid week of dust-storms before that, I guess it was inevitable.  I feel like crap (on and off), and well… I feel just bad enough to be really pissed off about it.  You know?

Yes, I said allergy.  While most of the USA has been truly suffering from way, way, way too much snow, where I am tree pollen is registering as “high.”  Plus, the weeds are already knee-high.  WHO threw the calendar into the spin-cycle of the washing machine?  WHAT is it — about 20 more days until it’s actually spring? WHEN are we, again?  WHERE’s the switch for my air conditioner, because it’s 83 degrees (F)?   More importantly, WHY can’t I get my energy back?

With those eternal questions in mind, I thought we could just do an Energy Oracle card reading today.

My “go to” card spread (the various layouts of cards in readings are called spreads) is a simple three-card reading.  The questions posed to the three cards are usually Past, Present, and Future, or similar.  However, I prefer to use the three questions you’ll see below.

Sometimes I start that by making a scattered pile like you see in the first the photo above — and then collecting them.

If you like (it depends on one’s need) you can add the preliminary step of selecting a significator.  For that, I typically look through all the cards and pick one that suits my personality or mood. Although it’s okay to draw one randomly.  That significator card represents the querant (the person asking the question).  Adding a significator card can help increase one’s focus, or make the reading feel more personal — because using it insists that the meanings for cards in the reading also apply back to the significator card.   Here, I drew the “Door to Spirit” card as my significator.  Despite what I said about looking at the cards when I pick the significator, I drew it at random, just because I wasn’t feeling 100%.  It fit my thoughts well enough, so I kept it.

Energy Oracle_Door to Spirit card 2026

Door to Spirit meaning:  This door opens to unlimited potential. It is about spiritual awakenings and new beginnings.

I leave the significator card out of the deck when I draw the other cards for a reading.  Rather than shuffling, I treat all of my cards gently, preferring to “cut” the deck multiple times and in random ways.  When the cards are mixed enough, I cut it the deck into three approximately equal stacks.

With me, readings are always about guidance or meditation, and never about predicting the future.  (I feel that the countless details that compose the future are in constant flux.)  Also, readings are about intent, so they can be done on behalf of other people.  While this reading is for me, my intent was for it to include everyone here as the querant, for your benefit/use as well.

Also, as we proceed, you will see that the meaning of each card ties to the meaning of other cards to provide answers to the questions.

Shall we begin?

What is unknown about the current situation?

With this question, I begin by taking a moment to feel “grounded” in the broader perspective of what is going on in my life and the people who impact it — not simply about whatever is on my mind.  What’s on my mind?  I expect that most of you can relate.  If you can, then this is also your reading, not just mine.

The question/subject of the reading: the need for energy of various kinds.

Energy Oracle card Woman Holding a Heart

Woman Holding a Heart

Various people are reading this post, and the card has more than one meaning. Depending on who you are, the card represents receptivity for love, or being in a state of peaceful emotion, or that a family matter will resolve.  Since my significator card is about new beginnings and spiritual awakenings, I combine the meanings of the two cards along with intuition from the images on the cards.  There is symmetry in the shape of the woman’s face and headpiece with that of the heart she holds.  That’s a reminder to keep a balance — to balance receptivity and rationality, but also keep the spiritual door open to awareness.

What are the obstacles?
Yin/Yang

Energy Oracle card Yin-Yang

The obstacle in question is a need for balance.  The Yin/Yang card is about passive/active and intuitive/logical.  (Yeesh… is the concept of “balance” being hammered into this reading?)  It represents lifecycles of energy.  It’s meant to help us “identify the particular cyclic energy moving into or out of your experience.”

The card also indicates a “yin cycle” where most of what’s going on, is happening under the surface.  That means the obstacle in our question, has to do with a need to look deeper.  This involves using a little self-analysis about the things represented in Woman Holding a Heart — then try again to pinpoint what sort of “receptivity” you will allow yourself — and look again at what sorts of “energies” are moving in or leaving.

How to proceed for best results?
Financial Constraints

Energy Oracle cards Financial Constraints

This is a great example of how important the images on cards are to a reading.  A good deck should have a richly detailed image for each card. Does it feel like a card’s meaning just doesn’t quite fit?  That it’s out of synch with the rest of the reading?  If so, then move your attention to the artwork on the card.  For you, perhaps the stated card meaning feels spot-on for how to proceed.  Of course, this specific card is about making financially responsible decisions, as well as being cautious about how you might use money in the search for balance, receptivity, awakening spiritually, or resolving a family issue. And that’s sound advice.

However, if you were like me, and when you saw this card you felt sort of like you walked face-first into a doorframe, then add a healthy dose of intuition to the card’s meaning.  Look closely at the artwork and let the image provide the meaning of the card. On the surface (and remember that it was previously suggested that we look deeper than the surface), it looks like a big caution because of that very small amount of money as compared to the size of the nearly empty safe.  There isn’t much balance in that, is there?  And look at all those cobwebs.  How long has that been locked up and unreceptive? So, back to the question…

How to proceed for best results?

You might feel that the resolution to your issue involves giving and or spending.  If that’s the case, then that’s fine, but don’t go wild with it.

On the other hand, you don’t find balance in denying yourself too much either.  You are deserving too.

The door to your finances doesn’t need to be wide open, but the “Door to Spirit” definitely does.  Use the two to balance each other.

Open the door to that inner “safe” where you’ve stored certain parts of yourself.  You’ve been hiding a part of yourself in there for too long.

Be willing to receive.  That’s right — manifest like a goddess and receive like a queen.

Affirmation

“I can move through any cycle with dignity and awareness.  I am open to receiving increasing wealth.  Money moves to my life, bringing benefits to all.” — Sandra Anne Taylor.

Hey there, Scoobies.  Why didn’t you participate in this reading?

Velma Daphne interrupted nap on sofa

Velma (left):  What? We’re taking a break.

Daphne (right):  Yeah.  We’ve been taking care of Yummy Human all week.  And before you ask, I have a floofy bed like Velma’s too.  Actually, I have two of them, but I don’t like them.  Excuse us.  We’re going back to our morning nap now.

Velma:  Isn’t this our afternoon nap?  It’s hard to tell the difference… Maybe it’s our pre-dinner nap…

  1. You are probably feeling better by now. You just reminded me that I need to call the HVAC people to do a system checkup before switching to AC in a couple of months. The artwork on those cards is awesome, by the way. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, my friend.

    1. Yes thanks, Edward. The virus part is gone. Although spring pollen started two months early, so I’m trying to adjust to the allergy/asthma difference. It’s funny… When I first moved here, I needed the AC repaired. I asked to set up with the person to get it cleaned, because that’s something I’ve always done at least every other year — and she refused. “They don’t need that.” But there are so few people working in any type of service here that I guess they only have time for things that have broken down completely. Veterinarians wouldn’t even make appointments for pets who weren’t already critical. Maybe it’s a cultural difference…

I’m glad you enjoyed the artwork. It really is a nice deck of cards. I appreciate you reading and commenting. Hugs.

      1. I’ve seen refusals like that in my area as well. I’m not sure why, because that’s a quick and easy buck. I guess customer service is not high in their priorities. The cards are really nice, and I like it when you show them in your posts.

  2. It’s interesting, Teagan, but if that card didn’t have financial constraints written on it, I would not connect the picture with money at all. For me, it looks like a book and I associate that with wisdom, learning, and freedom of choice. A most interest reading and balance ties with making wise and well researched choices.

    1. Robbie, you bring out another important aspect of readings — the artwork is akin to symbols. (Although these are oracle cards, if they were tarot, every card would be full of symbols.) So an important thing is what the art means (symbolizes) to the person. Plus, there is a book, a ledger, inside the safe. I know you will make wise choices. I appreciate you spending time here. Hugs.

  3. Wow!

    Thanks Teagan!

With my Art Show approaching, this reading makes me feel I am on the right track.

I am overwhelmed, at this time. I have your mail and will write you soon, my lovely friend!

If the Scoobies were any cuter, my heart would fall on the floor.

    Hugs!

  4. Hope you’re feeling better, my friend. I feel like I’ve been struggling more than usual with balance over the past few weeks. It’s a work in progress. Love seeing the Scoobies! Bond has a furry mat like that bed, and I had to put it in his bed for him to lay on it. Now he loves it.

    1. Hi, Teri. You had so much happening with your sons. It was hectic for a long time, even though for good things. I can easily imagine that it would take quite a while to find your balance again.
Thanks for the good wish. I *think* I’m better. But Daphne has kept me up ALL night for the past two nights, suddenly territorial and meowing incessantly about something outside. Oh well… It’s probably only a chupacabra… 👾 🙀
Many thanks for spending time here. Hugs.

  5. Teagan, thank you for this beautiful and informative reading – I was caught up by your explanation of the process, feeling the guidance of balance, a sense of peace, learning to look at the artwork. Your musings as you interpret the cards is fascinating and I could relate to so much and especially ‘Open the door to that inner “safe” where you’ve stored certain parts of yourself.  You’ve been hiding a part of yourself in there for too long.’ Spooky!

I hope you’re soon feeling better and stronger. Take care, hugs xx ❤️

    1. What a wonderful comment, Annika– thank you. I tried to not sound too “teachy”. I think most of us have at least a small part of ourselves stored away and protected. I don’t mean anything as serious as blocked memories from trauma… just things we’re not so secure about.
I think I’m on the mend. Just in time for another day of high winds and blowing dirt forecasted for Thursday, LOL. 🙄 But that’s “spring” in New Mexico. Hugs winging back to you. 💖

  6. Teagan, first of all — I’m so sorry you’ve been feeling crummy. There’s something especially irritating about being just well enough to function and just unwell enough to be annoyed by it. That in-between state can feel like its own kind of obstacle.

I love that even while under siege by pollen and dust storms, you turn to symbolism rather than surrender. The “Door to Spirit” as your significator feels quietly perfect. When energy is low physically, it’s often the inner door that needs propping open, gently, not forcefully.

What struck me most in this reading is the repeated call for balance. Yin/Yang showing up so insistently feels less like scolding and more like a nudge: not everything happens on the visible surface. Sometimes energy is restoring itself underground.

Velma and Daphne clearly understand the art of energy management far better than most humans. Pre-dinner nap is a legitimate category. Sending you clearer air, steadier breath, and just enough balance to feel like yourself again. Sending hugs on speedy wings to you and the Scoobies!!

    1. Thank you, Rebecca. That’s an excellent summary of what I was saying.

I’m actually seeing (right at this minute) that I should have listened to the guidance I was having this morning — to let the two little outside chores that were due today slide — and stay inside today. But I thought it was only my usual anxiety/agoraphobia. A balance might have been to compromise and stop (after going out to let the car run). But a couple of hours later the same nagging force pushed me outside again, to take the trash out to the alley (the dumpster). But there are consequences to avoiding either chore, especially the trash. Now it feels like I’ve taken away all the progress I had made in getting over whatever this is. No wonder the reading harped on balance. It should have hit me over the head with it. LOL. But I’m grateful that I’m not worse, or seriously ill. Hugs back to you.

  7. My sympathies for your pollen woes! Ours are yet to come! I just finished a book in which tarot cards featured – some of the tarot packs are worth tons of money because of the artistry on the front and backs of the cards! Card readers were persecuted during the reign of George III.

Always a delight to see Velma and Daphne.

    1. I’m still hoping to finish the tarot themed novel I started in 2019. I regret blogging about it at that time, because it was a unique idea, and now I’m seeing versions of it. However I made the book very personal, about my youth, and it is hard to live it again.

There isn’t as much pollen here as in the East, but with the winds it stays in the air all the time. Have a good new week. Hugs.

  8. As an asthmatic I can relate to your week of energy drain. The pollen season is always the worst although all year is a challenge. I enjoyed your reading and the thoughts around what is deserved were truly meaningful. I just got a big surprise hit from the IRS which has caused me to question spending on a birthday gift. I’ve decided to go ahead with the gift since I think there will be joy in giving and receiving in spite of the cost. Your reading confirmed that decision in my mind. Well done.

    1. Thank you for sharing that, John. It makes me feel good to think I might have helped in some small way. Yes, it’s so much better when we can enjoy the giving without worry over the “shoulds” of the purchase. Although I’m sorry about the tax hit. Those things are a gut punch.
I’m sorry can relate about the asthma. Mine was never very bad until I moved here. I begin to wonder if my current energy level is my new normal.
Heartfelt thanks for reading and commenting. Hugs.

  9. Sorry you’ve been feeling so awful. Sounds like what I had, and no energy at all. It’s better now and I hope you feel better soon, too. Yep, dust storms blew all week last week and before, and that always brings on the illness it seems to me, too. And it’s been in the 80 degrees and up which doesn’t help! We already run the A/C here. … Meantime, take it easy, and give the Scoobies some pats from me. ❤

    1. Thanks, Barbara. I’m sorry that you weren’t well, but glad you’re okay now. At this point I feel just bad enough to be really cranky. Yes, it looks like it’s already time to get out the zipper bag for my long sleeved tops and put them away. Winter was shortened at both ends this year. It was hardly worth unzipping that bag.
Have a great new week. Hugs from the Scoobies and me. 🤗

  10. Daphne and Velma certainly have achieved balance. The balance between sleep and eating separated (I’m guessing) by fits of crazy. Given the weather, I’d say you have every right to be in a grumpy mood. Nature is certainly testing us this season. I hope you find your answers, and I hope things settle down long enough for you to catch your breath and enjoy a bit of weekend relaxation.

    1. Haha “fits of crazy” is a great description, Dan. Actually, to crown the day I’ve been having, Daphne started having a hairball problem this evening. So that put me into a tailspin until I was reasonably sure what was going on with her. I’m going to call it a night, early, and hope doing so doesn’t ruin my sleep cycle for the night the way an early night usually does. I appreciate you spending time here. Hugs.

  11. Fascinating, Teagan. I love the images, and I must find time to investigate all the different options, but your readings are inspiring and have a touch of magic. Big hugs to you and love to the Scoobies (who are looking good, as usual). ♥
