Welcome, everyone. I know it’s been a rough year. It doesn’t really feel like Christmastime to me, but I’m going to try. Not to rub your nose in it, because I realize most of this nation (and some other countries too) are freezing your schnoz off, but as I write this, we’re expecting a high temperature of 70º F. This autumn the leaves on the trees around me never changed color. They just died and are in the process of falling away. Despite soaring summer heat, and short winters, it can get every bit as cold as the east coast or New England. When winter finally gets here it packs quite a punch.

Seriously, I’m not complaining in the least! It’s great. (Although in a way it’s scary, and does not bode well for summer heat staying below 100º F… )
My wild and wooly flapper character, Lulu, has been whimsical and wacky enough to help me through some transitions in the past. About 18 months ago I released a Christmas novelette set in the “Lulu-verse.” To celebrate the holidays, I’m running a sale on the e-book version.
Hullaba Christmas:
Lulu & the Snatched Santa

The uninhibited flapper and the “angel-bot” automatons are on hand too. Santa Claus has been abducted. Can Lulu, the Rudolph-bot, and the other angel-bots save Christmas? The tale is a magical, diesel-punk fantasy story. This novelette picks up where the original book, Hullaba Lulu: a Diesel-Punk Adventure, stopped — but it can be a stand-alone story. It’s approximately a two-hour read.
Here’s a Snippet
“So, what’s the warning supposed to be about?” I asked, taking a gulp of the bloody mary and then getting a big spoonful of horseradish.
From the next room, I heard multiple clicks and whirrs. However, these had a different tone than the sounds the angel-bots made. Then clacks sounded on the tyle floors — lots of clip-clop-clacks.
Boom-boom tilted his head curiously, although Dynamite was not surprised. After the stuff about “red lights for a strong warning or emergency,” I was already nervous. Strange noises made my anxiety worse.
Looking upward, I saw a gleaming gold stick come around the doorway.
“Wha—” I started, but belched. “Skuze me…”

Hi Teagan, I really enjoyed both these Lulu books. We are having a lot of heavy rain this year and our last winter was bitter.

Teagan, I like the clear-eyed way you talk about this time of year. Christmas doesn’t always arrive on cue, and weather has a funny way of unsettling our sense of season and expectation. I think that we will have a green Christmas again on our side of the world with plenty of rain. I admire your idea to lean into story and creativity. Your books are proof that imagination can carry a bit of mischief and momentum even when the calendar feels out of sync.

Oh Teagan, I love your creative stories, sounds like a good one! We too are enjoying an unusually warm December close to 80 degrees this week!

Holy Hannah, that’s way too hot for mid December. I do admit that the low heating bill is nice though.
Lulu is one of a kind. When another girl would flirt, she accidentally burps. Dances when nobody is watching — or when they are. Says what she means and means what she says. 💃 Hugs.

Thank you, David. I’ve found your post now. (It’s a bit of a slowdown for me because nothing links your blog to your “Gravitar” or your screen-name.) You’re always welcome to leave a link here. The post is marvelous. I’m neither embarrassed nor ashamed to admit that I’m envious. 🙂 Hugs.

I’m so glad that Lulu has a friend in you, Denise. Lots of bees at your place? I realize how necessary they are, buy I’m deathly allergic. Here’s hoping for the perfect amount of winter. Hugs.

Not the nice honey bees or bumble bees but the mean ground yellow jackets. Sorry you are allergic like that my mom was too. Yes! We are finally getting some rain today. Hugs back xo

Our temps have been in the teens the past couple days, but we’re up to 60 by Thursday – crazy weather. I don’t think I remember this one – not sure how I missed it – so I’m off to Amazon now. Thanks, Teagan!

Twas the week before Christmas and all through the house, the Scoobies were on guard so no sign of a mouse
Santa would have been there but he has been ‘borrowed’
Hope Lulu will save him else there will be Christmas sorrow.

Weather/swether. Although we need a lot of layers of sweaters here in New England to contend with the cold and frosty and frigid winter air. But your imagination and sales keep us warm, Teagan!!

And you have warmed my heart, Pam. I thought the extra-warm spell here was supposed to go on for quite a while, but today is nearly 10 degrees cooler than yesterday — although that’s still quite nice. I had to put on my hoodie. Wishing you a sparkling new week. Hugs.

Hello Teagan,
Not a lot of snow here, but well below freezing temps and dark, darker, darkest.
Only 8 day until the days get longer.
I enjoyed the video, and hope you sell lots of Lulu’s Christmas ebooks.
Hugs to you and the Scoobies from Misha and me!

That’s a good positive point, Resa — yes, it won’t be much longer until there begins to be more sunlight in the day. Thanks for your good wishes, and the feedback on the video. Lulu is such fun, I hope this will let more people meet her, and smile. Daphne just got up from her afternoon nap and looks like she’s smiling about the neck scratching she’s getting (and cheek-scrubbing on the corner of my desk whenever I stop) Hugs winging back to you and yours from me and mine. ❤

He did! Well 1/2 a computer. I gave myself the other 1/2.
It’s crazy how we need to spend so much $$ on tech. $2300.00 CDN$ or 1700.00 USD. all in with adapter and insurance.
Of course by the time I pay this off my credit card, that price will have gone up.
Still, it’s quite exciting… all new M4 chip!
Hugs! ✨🕊

God help me if that little maniac ever gets a taste for caffeine! LOL. Although now she’s in her floofy bed sleeping, and Daphne in her favorite hammock. It will be quiet for the rest of the afternoon. If I can unprocrastinate myself enough to write, it will still be a miracle. Hugs back.

Sometimes our characters can lift our spirits! Sounds like you are in the high desert – which can be brutal in the winter. We don’t expect to hit 70 for the foreseeable future so enjoy! Go Lulu!

Indeed they can, Jan. Yes, it’s southern New Mexico. Not in the mountains, but the altitude is still over 4,300 ft. Hugs!

Everyone needs some Lulu at this time of the year!! Here’s my 5-star review if anyone needs to know why: This is another fun romp with the loveable Lulu, who is as scatty and clumsy as always. In this diesel-punk fantasy, she has to rescue Christmas, as Santa has been kidnapped. With the help of angel bots and a fabulous Rudolf, they do their best to make sure Christmas happens, but will they be able to find Santa so that Christmas can happen next year? I love Lulu and enjoyed the flapper slang sprinkled throughout. Like “my goose is cooked”, “horsefeathers” and my favourite “pos-i-lutelty the goat’s whiskers”. There are some subtle references to current political situations and personalities, as well as a guest appearance of the inventor Nikola Tesla. It’s an all-around gobsmacking read for the Christmas season or anytime really! I just hope we see more of Lulu.

Yes, I’ve been putting on the capri pants and short-sleeve t-shirts this week. It’s a good thing that I didn’t back them away yet. I don’t remember what I researched for Austin back when I was considering a home there, but winter lows here (because of the high altitude even though we aren’t in the mountains) get every bit as cold as the middle to lower East Coast and New England, so I’m not feeling too apologetic about the unexpectedly nice weather. 😀 I hope it allows you a nice Views of the Neighborhood excursion this weekend. Hugs.

What a great recommendation! Thanks for the sale and for the reminder! Who wouldn’t want to spend Christmas in the company of wonderful Lulu! The weather here is pretty mild at the moment, although we’re expecting rain in the next few days (and, of course, there are some events I have to attend tomorrow, so fingers crossed it remains dry then). Big hugs and love to the Scoobies!

70º F, huh? It’s 21º F here. That’s -6° for the rest of the world who rely on Celsius. I won’t hold it against you, Teagan, given that we stayed under 100 degrees this summer and I know you didn’t.
I have already enjoyed this delightful book, but I’ll share this post and tell people that it’s a wonderful story — one they should own for themselves.
I hope you have a great weekend!

If it makes you feel a little better, the overnight low was 32… Although I see that your high won’t be much more than that, and snow for tomorrow? I know you like using your tricked-out snow machine to help your neighbors, but take care. Hugs. ☕☕☕
