Velma: Yummy Human, you aren’t making any sense.
Welcome, all. After the past year or more of repeatedly thinking a book would be ready “any minute now”… well, I’ve started taking the phrase “coming soon” out of my vocabulary. However, something is back on track, at minimum.
Teaser
No, I’m not saying what. Yes, I’m being coy. However, I’m giving a preview of some of the illustrations.

I will give one hint though. It will be a new addition to my nonfiction “Author Toolchest” collection of resource books.

The book has so many beautiful illustrations that I’ve decided to try my hand at making the paperback version in color. We’ll see how that goes.

Daphne: Yummy Human, wait! You didn’t put me in the post. There. You can thank me later. You just saved your blog post.

Teagan, I’m reading a book, “The Golden Age of Magic, by Luanne G. Smith: https://www.amazon.com/Golden-Age-Magic-Novel-ebook/dp/B0DGZFKLQJ. I think this book is something you would love!! 1900s, fairies, & magic!!
I love your illustrations. I would buy the print book for sure!! 💖

Thanks for the recommendation, Colleen.
I just got my print copy. They did a better job than they’ve been doing with printing. But I almost regret doing it in color because of the cost, and the fact that the images are small. So, I still recommend the ebook. That way one can make the paintings larger when viewing.
Hugs.

Fabulous. I will get the Kindle. Color photos work well in print if you can make them full page size. It costs more to print, but the end result comes out well. When does your book hit the market? 💜

It’s out as of now. I’m trying to muster the energy for an announcement post. I’ll do that next week. Thanks very much for asking. Hugs.

Thanks very much, Robbie. The publishing process appears to be done. KDP didn’t change their mind on anything already approved (as they did with Steampunkery Tech). I’m working on an announcement now. I hope your week is going well. Hugs.

Big hugs all around to you and the kitties from Misha and me!

It feels good to finally finish this one, Resa. It certainly wasn’t my oldest unfinished book, but I have been working on it (on and off) for a few years. Now, fingers crossed that Amazon publishing doesn’t mess with me… Big hugs winging back to you and Misha!

Congrats, and I hope all goes well, Teagan!
I have noticed that sometimes just chipping away at a project, when in the mood, bears a surprise result.
HUGS!

That’s my approach to any of my nonfiction books, Resa. I have several others in progress (mostly slang dictionaries, but also a naming book, and one of 1920s settings). It’s soothing to work on whichever one strikes my fancy. They don’t require the same kind of mental intensity as writing my novels. 🙂
This one, “Speak Flowers and Fans: A Dictionary of Floriography & Fanology” looks like it’s good to go with Amazon as of this evening. But sometimes they change their mind, so I’m waiting a bit before announcing it. 🙂

Daphne mad me laugh with her incursion into the post. The idea of a color paper book is fascinating, Teagan. Good luck on that journey.

Haha. I felt guilty about leaving her out, so had to do that, John.
I’m trying to look at the color version as an experiment… (I was excited about it before I saw how much more it will cost.) While my fiction readers usually get e-books (which I prefer), the non-fiction mostly sells in paperback… where I make pennies. It will be interesting to see whether the higher price impacts that. I might regret the color paperback. Big hugs.

Ooooo! So excited for the new project being back on track! You know I was going to get the paperback anyway, but color plates would be a bonus!

You are so kind, Marian. Your enthusiasm made me smile. How are you doing? I hope no aftereffects from that tumble, and that the bruise is healing.
Color for the paperback seemed the best option, because I used so many paintings. I knew it would cost more, but it is more than I expected, especially since it’s a thin book (about 150 pages). Sigh… charge customers more all the while cutting royalties for authors — it’s the Amazon way. Anyhow, did you know Japanese Samurai warriors used fans? Thanks for visiting. Hugs.

I did know that! Sara and I watch a lot of K-dramas, and there was a lot of cross-cultural martial arts going on between China, Korea, and Japan. We’ve seen warriors do some pretty severe damage with fans.
My eye is healing nicely, and all the better for your asking. HUGS!

I’m glad to hear that, Marian.
That was my thought about metal fans doing damage… Dang scary. LOL
Take good care of you. ❤

Saved by the hair on Daphne’s chin-chin-chin. You definitely need to publish the paperback in color.

Haha. Daphne agrees, Tim. I did the online work for the paperback today. I knew color would be more expensive, but I was surprised by just how much more… I hope they do a good job with it. Of course, it has to go through their AIs first. After Steampunkery Tech being such a problem, I never know what to expect. We’ll see. Have a good rest of the weekend. Hugs.

Color is always a lot more expensive. I hope you don’t have issues with this one.

What gorgeous illustrations! And leave it to Daphne to insert herself! I have written three posts that somehow never got posted on my blog due to the fact that wordpress decided to update it and left it so messed up with huge pictures and irrelevant links that I’ve had to hire a professional to try to straighten it out. Among those posts was another edition of the Garfield Chronicles.

Ah! Noelle, I figured there must be some kind of technical issue when I couldn’t manage to get to any of your posts. That’s so very stressful and frustrating — I’m sorry you’re having to deal with that. Everything just keeps getting harder to do… I appreciate you spending part of your Saturday here. Chin rubs to the kitties. Big hugs.

Hmm, could it be something to do with ladies’ fans, the language of fans?

LOL, it could indeed, Liz. Flowers too. Hugs.

My unfounded guess is the language of flowers and fans, sort of as you touched on in the most recent serial. Kitty looks pretty among the plants.

Yes, that’s the one. There wasn’t a lot of verifiable information, so I had to work hard for it. (Online, it might look like a lot, but it’s one or two articles repeated by a hundred people.) Hugs.

Thanks for saying that, Dan. Well, it’s “breath holding time” now. The paperback is in KDP’s robotic hands as of right now. My fingers are crossed. I’ve never done a color book before. I knew it would cost more, but I admit to being sort of shocked that the price (at least) doubled — and the book is only about 150 pages. I haven’t started on the e-book yet, but that’s generally a lot less stress.
A good weekend to you and yours as well. Hugs.

I only did color once, and it was only about 60 pages. I hope it gets through the process easily.
