Would it surprise you if I said my favorite cartoon as a kid was Scooby-Doo? Considering that my feline companions are Velma and Daphne, even those of you who don’t know the story behind their name wouldn’t be surprised. Although, what was my next girlhood favorite? A spinoff of that cartoon called Josie and the Pussycats. I’m letting the opening theme from that show be my song-spiration for this post. If you aren’t familiar with it, check the video below.
Below video is the opening from the old cartoon, Josie and the Pussycats
To be perfectly honest, we’ve had “blowing dust advisories” (aka dust storms) on many days the past two weeks. Even with my big AirDog air purifier, well, asthma is bringing me down. I’m not complaining, just explaining. A bunch of cat pictures seemed like the easiest post. I hope you like them anyway.
Daphne and Velma invite you to join their playtime. Take it away, Scoobies!

Velma: If you’d get your lazy butt out of the hammock, you might find out.
Daphne: No way. If I get up, then you’ll steal my spot.
Velma: You know that I have a good 20 minutes of playtime to go before I’d do that.
Daphne: Sure, but you’re a sneaky little cuss.
Hey, Yummy Human, what are you doing with the string?
Go high, Daphne!

Daphne: Thanks, Yummy Human. Don’t tell Velma.

Daphne: Ah-ha. Gottcha! Mine, all mine! Hey, wait. Where’d it go?

Velma: Haha, I got it! Now I’m gonna bite it so it doesn’t get away. Daphne, I told you to get up… Now it’s mine!
Daphne: Congratulations. You’re still not getting the hammock.
Velma: As if. I like my floofy bed better. Besides there are two more hammocks in the bedroom.

Naturally, I can’t close this without the obligatory shameless self-promotion. After the past couple of months, some full-on whimsy is needed. Some good-crazy for all ages.

Scooby was also my favorite, and I watched Josie and the Pussycats but don’t remember as much about it. Love seeing the girls play! Funny story – Reese ordered some cat toys for Catticus and had them delivered here a couple days ago. I kept hearing this weird vibrating noise and thought it was neighbors with weedeaters. Turned out one of the cat toys turned itself on every couple hours, and I had to open the Amazon box to turn it off!

Haha, that’s hysterical, Teri. I got the Scoobies a couple that are motion activated, but I hadn’t heard of the timer (?) type. LOL, I can imagine the delivery driver. Hugs.

We must be around the same age, Teagan, because we watched the same television shows as kids. I forgot all about “Josie and the Pussycats.” Lol. But it all can roaring back. And adorable cat pics. They’re having so much fun. What joy to have them around. 🙂

Thanks for the cats! They always cheer me up. I think WP has unsubscribed me from your blog. Will try my usual methods to remedy…

I’m forever getting unsubscribed, Kerfe. Thanks for going to the trouble. I’m delighted that the Scoobies give you smiles. Big hugs.

Your kitties would be great subjects for your art prints, Kirt. (If I missed that, then I hope you’ll leave a link.) A wonderful new week to you as well. Hugs.

I haven’t used them for any of my artwork….hadn’t even thought of that…does that make me a bad pet owner??:)

A terrific Caterday post, Teagan. Velma and Daphne are natural performers. As an asthma sufferer I hope that the dust calms down for you. I have been on the edge myself. I hope you have a restful Sunday.

Thanks, John. I’m sorry to hear that you also have asthma problems. I feel better than I did Friday and Saturday, but still not myself. I’m thankful that (about a year and a half ago) I invested in a medical grade AirDog purifier. Even though it doesn’t do enough (doubt anything could), it really helps. Worth every penny. (Although it has to be cleaned about 7 times more often than they claimed…) Wishing you a wonderful new week. Hugs.

I’ve got two meds and a twice a day inhaler that keeps me pretty stable. Hoping the dust goes away. Hugs.

Ahh, I never watched Josie and the Pussycats, but I just watched the video. Very cool. I can see the attraction.
The Scoobies are most entertaining. Scoobies doobie do!
Teagan and the Pussycats!
I hope the dust settles soon, and your asthma calms down.
Take care! HUGS

Hi, Resa. It was a very silly cartoon, and not nearly as well done as Scooby-Doo, but as a young girl back then it was so unusual to think of a rock band of girls, and an all the main action characters also girls. Thanks for the good wishes. The inflammation from it is bringing me down. Next week looks like a repeat of the past two weeks. I’m trying to find a way to “accept” it and not beat myself up so much about what I can’t do. And try to “keep my chin up.” Hugs winging back to you.

I get it about the “girls” toon.
I grew out of cartoons quickly, but I still love Bugs. I did go through a Simpson’s phase for a few years.
Uch.. there’s enough downers without inflammation, and sinus infections (my bane)
Yes, chin up and hugs in! (xtra hugs)

I’m so happy you liked them, Darlene. Yeah… the asthma-inflammation is definitely bringing me down. At least it isn’t a virus or an injury. Thanks for the good wishes. Big hugs.

Good to see the Scoobies having fun. Do they like feathers? Garfield and Sammie are wild about feathers. I have to watch them, though, because they like to ingest them.

Hi, Noelle. Yeah, that’s the trouble with a lot of cat toys — just when you think it’s safe to turn your back, they try to eat one. Daphne likes the feathers that are on a couple of their toys — makes a big slobbery mess of them. Velma is less interested in feathers. She likes to run and jump. Chin rubs to Garfield and Sammie. Hugs!

Good to see the girls in action, and I can picture that dialog. I hope the dust storms wind down and you get some breathable air for spring. I hope you have a nice easy weekend.

It seems like they’re both early and worse this year. Not much choice but to let the weekend be lowkey. I’m not going to push it. Many thanks for visiting, Dan. Hugs.

Lowkey is good sometimes. Especially as we lose an hour.

I keep forgetting about the time change. Ugh… that wipes me out for a week — twice a year. My internal system doesn’t seem to care whether it looses or gains an hour, I react that way regardless. Thanks for the reminder though.

I thought it would be easier after I retired – I thought I wouldn’t care. But it’s almost worse now. Take care – hugs!

Happy Saturday to you and the Scoobies! So much fun to see them playing with the strings. When we had our kitties they loved strings, too.
Yes, the blowing dust storms – I thin half of NM has been blowing all the way over here as we’ve had the same warnings for reduced visibility and fire dangers. March has always been this way, and next up will be tornado season.
Take care and wishing you a good weekend. ❤

LOL, and half of AZ seems to have blown to NM. Tornadoes are terrifying. Take care and hugs.
