Whether you think the holidays are for the birds or you’re the ultimate Christmas person, the Scoobies and I send you happy wishes. First a bit of fun — curtesy of Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show, here’s a video to go with the crazy birds image above. “The 12 Birds of Christmas ”
Now, a more traditional Christmas card for those who like their holidays that way. I simply wish you a Merry Christmas.

  1. Belated Merry Christmas Teagan!

    I sure missed a lot of posts when the furnace broke down on the 21st. It was -18C, and I got nothing done for the 4 days, except urban survival. It was finally fixed at 7:30 pm. on the 24th. It took 2 days for our 120 year old home with water radiator heat to warm up.

    Anyway.. warm again and catching up. Although in many cases, I’ll jus forge ahead! Hugs!

    1. Horsefeathers, Resa — first the plumbing and then the heat? You’re due for great things in 2025. Getting the heat fixed must have seemed like Santa arriving. I understand what a big deal that is. You must be exhausted from that double whammy. Back in DC, my landlady wouldn’t maintain the 15 year-old heat/air system. It finally caught fire, filling my rowhouse with smoke — in the middle of the night, during a blizzard, on a 9 degree night (that’s -12.7 C). It took that long to get it fixed too. I still freak out over the slightest noise or smell from the heat/air.
      I’m glad you’re safe, warm, and dry. A very happy new year to you too. Big hugs.

  5. OMG! I absolutely LOVE your bird picture, and the Annie Lennox video couldn’t be more perfect! A Christian carol, but stuffed chock full of pagan traditions of the season. A magnificent blend of the old and the new(er). Thank you! I hope you and the Scoobies had a fine Solstice/Christmas. My clowder and I sat around and were lazy and celebrated quietly with #4 and her AlmostMister.

      Oooh that's very well said about the Annie Lennox video — a perfect description. I couldn't even put together in my head the way it makes me feel, but that's exactly it.

      I'm about to write a post announcing a new Three Things style serial to begin in the new year. The people part of the equation has been too much for me to cope with for several years… but I miss it. I'm also feeling the strong need to do some sort of community-building. Something that brings us together during a time of such division… Better have a straitjacket on hand, because as much as a *need* it, I don't feel up to the interactions. :/ Many thanks for your lovely comment.         1. I give them a good “playtime” every morning before breakfast. Velma is playful on her own. Daphne, however, doesn’t like exercise so playtime is more important for her. Now they’re having the after breakfast nap, and will likely sleep straight through to their lunchtime nap, and… you get the picture. LOL. It’s a good morning.
