Hello, everyone. As they used to say, things are tough all over. Everybody could use a little fun. So today we’re just going to have a silly visit with the Scoobies — Velma and Daphne.
♣ ♣ ♣

Daphne: Jeepers, Velma! What the catscratch is that supposed to be?
Velma: I’m learning to play Phantom of the Opera. It’ll be great for Halloween.
Daphne: I think I heard Yummy Human hit the high note on that song once. We both hid when that happened.

Velma: Jinkies, Daphne. That high note was when your “love bite” got too hard and she screamed. Hey, are you going to be a vampire for Halloween? You’re clearly a natural. You’ve already got the fangs.
Daphne: I do not apologize for following my nature. Besides, she’s yummy. But jeepers, Velma you know that neither of us would wear a costume. We could watch horror movies.

Velma: Okay, but no werewolves. That reminds me. Yummy keeps talking about the moon. What’s going on with that?

Daphne: Jeepers! Talk about horror. I’m leaving before I see anything that I can’t un-see.
Velma: Speaking of moons… There she goes. [singing] I see the ginger moon a risin’. I see trouble on the way… There’s a bad moon on the rise.

Daphne: Stop making fun of my butt. It’s time for another nap.

♣ ♣ ♣
Bad Moon Rising is at Teri Polen’s blog, Books & Such. It lasts all October. Yummy Human will be there October 27th.

I know this post is about Velma and Daphne but my attention got stuck on your furnishings. Lovely colourful ones with a very Indian-esque designs on it. Loved it all – Velma, Daphne and the furnishings. 🙂

I’m chuckling because I do the same thing when bloggers post pictures taken inside their homes, Sharukh. You probably mean the bedroom curtain. I suppose that really is an Indian design. I love paisley designs, and I think that originated in India. Anyhow, I seem to have a physical need for colors. I don’t feel well if I’m surrounded by “neutrals”. So I don’t decorate the same way other people do. The first picture of Velma, I altered the background to black and white, but I actually have a lot of aqua-colored shelves and storage containers in that room. It’s bedroom/office.
The light is so intense here that in that room (which faces west) I have THREE pairs of light/heat blocking curtains on that window during 3/4ths of the year when it gets so hot in the afternoon. The living room I did in similar colors (aqua or light teal and yellow-gold), but everything is meant to look like retro 1960s “Mod”. You can’t really see any of that. Since I’m on a fixed income budget, all the furniture ended up having to be assembled — so it’s all light weight enough for me to (mostly) manage, although minor back injuries were frequent. Even though it was cheap junk, it’s held up pretty well, considering I’ve been here five years now.
A little of it shows on this post from when I first got the cats. https://teagansbooks.com/2023/02/18/introducing/
As you see, it’s humble, but it’s home. Hugs.

Yummy human…LOL. That’s a name that will stick. Hoshi tried to taste me as a kitten, but thankfully her regular food and chicken AND the kitchen counter are far more interesting to her. Happy Halloween season!

It’s good to see you, Mary. With these two (but Daphne is by far the most determined to nibble), it’s part of their idea of cuddles. Go figure… A very happy Halloween-time to you too. Hugs.

Hi Teagan, a terrific post. I enjoyed the cat conversation. I also enjoy Bad Moon Rising.

Thanks Robbie. Giving everyone a chat with the cats helped take my mind off the slue of things that have been causing nonstop panic attacks. My main ID number getting on the dark web because of a huge data breech, then my credit card getting hacked and all the issues related to that, with changing payment accounts on a dozen places including utilities like electricity and phone, and now this nonsense from Amason’s KDP and my Steampunkery Tech book that has been putting me through hoops since September 18th… Anyhow, I hope you’re having a good week. Hugs.

Hi Teagan, the data security breech is awful to hear about. I am so sorry. Amazon can be a real pain. I am wondering if I’m going to have trouble like this with my next book. Last time, Amazon drove me crazy over the cover which I had to upload 10 times. I was close to ditching the paperback.
LikeLiked by 1 person
That’s the way I feel — like ditching it. I’ve had that kind of cover upload issue a few times. Their stated requirements are not inline with what they actually accept. I’ve just started making the covers gigantic. It’s a lot harder to work with them, but… Anyhow I hope no one else ever has anything as absurd as what they’ve been doing to me. In the past their people have always been fantastic. I really don’t know how they could have suddenly gotten so horrible. Sigh… Onward.

Teagan,
The Scoobies are too, funny. Well, you make them funny.
Where does the name Scoobies come from?
They are absolutely beautiful cats. I just love ginger tabbies. My Pupkin was a ginger tabby.
Yes, I needed a bit of fun. This happens every year. As we loose sunlight hours, my energy and spirit wane. Velma and Daphne are 2 balls of sunshine.
Thank you so much!
Hugs

Thank you, Resa. Yes, they really are “balls of sunshine” — I like that. Here’s why I call them the Scoobies. Before they arrived (it took about a week for them to get delivered to me after I adopted them), I thought it would be fun to name them for a fictional pair, probably detectives. I really, really liked the idea of calling them Jeeves & Wooster. (Maybe you remember that BBC show set in the 1920s with Stephen Frye & Hugh Laurie?) Well, unfortunately they were both goofy little “Woosters” and neither had a Jeeves personality. Anyhow, Daphne and Velma were the two girls from the cartoon TV series, Scoobie Doo Where Are You? The names/characters perfectly suited their personalities.
I remember how the lack of sunlight bothers you — I’m sorry. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Hugs winging back to you.

I didn’t know about the series when it was being made, so I don’t know how old it is. Most of the episodes are out there on YouTube, although the image quality is not great. I’m blind as a bat so that doesn’t bother me. LOL. Here’s one.

Thanks for joining us, Lauren. Now that they’re grown, they don’t sleep together as much as they used to (although that might be a size/space issue too — Daphne got big), so I try to get a pic when they do. Hugs.

I’m glad you could join us, Dan. I couldn’t make anything similar to what you did with the windowsills. But the windowsills here are too narrow for adult cats. Daphne particularly (who is 30% bigger than her litter-mate) kept falling off. I got that narrow table thing recently and they like it. Assembly wasn’t too bad. It has some electric outlets and USB charging ports too, which helps with the wall outlet being behind the sofas. Anyhow thanks for visiting. Hugs.
