Welcome to Christmas in July! The challenge is already off to a splendid start. A special shout-out to Marian Allen for diving right in with a post-a-day! She got things going with a decoration and a recipe! Follow those links to her delightful blog.
Roberta Cheadle told me yesterday that she would have a post today. Be sure to check comments to see if others have left links to their posts.

I brought a decoration (one of the post themes I suggested). You might have seen it already, although it’s so small it’s easy to miss. The ornament was sort of a hint when I added it to the badge I created for this event, even though I wasn’t certain that I would be ready in time. Did you notice it on the badge? It’s from my book cover. I’m delighted to share it as my kickoff post for Christmas in July.
On my birthday, I achieved a goal. I finished a novelette that I started 2 1/2 years ago. Announcing…
Hullaba Christmas:
Lulu & the Snatched Santa

My uninhibited flapper is back. The “angel-bot” automatons are on hand to help Lulu. Yes, there’s also a gold reindeer-bot this time. Santa Claus has been abducted. Can Lulu and the angel-bots save Christmas? The tale is a magical, diesel-punk fantasy story. This novelette picks up where the original book, Hullaba Lulu: a Diesel-Punk Adventure, stopped — but it can be a stand-alone story. It’s approximately a two-hour read.
Here’s a Snippet
“So, what’s the warning supposed to be about?” I asked, taking a gulp of the bloody mary and then getting a big spoonful of horseradish.
From the next room, I heard multiple clicks and whirrs. However, these had a different tone than the sounds the angel-bots made. Then clacks sounded on the tyle floors — lots of clip-clop-clacks.
Boom-boom tilted his head curiously, although Dynamite was not surprised. After the stuff about “red lights for a strong warning or emergency,” I was already nervous. Strange noises made my anxiety worse.
Looking upward, I saw a gleaming gold stick come around the doorway.
“Wha—” I started, but belched. “Skuze me…”
♣ ♣ ♣
My intention in hosting this challenge (or blog hop) is to bring smiles to everyone. There’s so much hardship and sadness. Lulu is always full-on… well, Lulu. I hope she gives you as much of a giggle mug as I get from her.

Another adventure for Lulu! Congratulations on wrapping up your tale of Lulu rescuing Santa. If there’s anyone who can rescue Santa with style, spunkiness, and fun, it’s Lulu 🙂

Thanks very much, Dave. I credit you for causing me to want to finish this story, because of your review of Hullaba Lulu. That gave me the push I needed. Thanks for reading and commenting. Hugs.

👋 Hello Teagan. Nice to make your acquaintance. I heard about this event through Robbie’s post and was wowed. I love this idea.
I have a Christmas decoration, a fun poem about my Childhood Christmasses growing up without snow and how we managed.
I also have a debut poetry book I promoted last Christmas. And a heart full of gratitude. Something like Christmas in July makes me smile. What a wonderful Idea! Is it ok if I join? Wow, what fun. I’ll put something together for this week—or you tell me when it’s ok. (I don’t want to crash no parties).
P.S. congratulations on your book. Blessings on your success. I already love the cover.
P.S. four weeks long? Or five? I’m not sure I understand this part.
P.S. I have no pets. Is that a downputter? 🙈
Will check for your reply in the morning. Happy Sunday to you. 🤗

Welcome, Selma! I’m so glad you want to participate.
My rules are only guidelines. They’re flexible. I really only ask three things: 1) Use my badge somewhere on your posts. 2) Include a link to my blog. 3) Try to keep posts happy, or light, or whimsical.
Thanks about my book and cover. That reindeer was really difficult.
Now that the event has begun, post as often as you want, and all month if you want. That’s up to you.
No, you don’t have to have pets at all.
Oh, and feel free to promote any of your works that have a holiday scene or theme.
Have a sparkling new week. Hugs!

Congratulations on the book, Teagan. Still trying to sort out a Christmas in July post. It may be too much for me. I’m in the throes of completing the sequel book. And will take a two week trip to see my peeps in WA. Interfering things get in the way. I will follow comments that may spark a quick response. Hugs to you and pats for the kitties. 📚🎶 Christine

Peeps and books certainly take priority, Christine — and a lot of effort. I intend to give some ideas/prompts as I go along. Hey… maybe a Christmas sunset (because of your blog). Just a photo, a remark, the badge/link, and you’re done. But no worries either way. Commenting is also participating. Big hugs winging back to you.

First things first – Congratulations on your new novelette, Teagan!
Hullaba Christmas: Lulu & the Snatched Santa. The premise is fascinating & the snippet is fab.
So, I have begun a holiday presentation. I’m guessing I’ll be ready to post in a couple of weeks.
Let’s say I’m more of a blog limper than hopper!
I will definitely check out Marian and Robbie’s blogs when I leave here!
Sending Hullaba Hugs!

Haha, thank you, Resa. I seem to be a limper too. I guess we’re Hopalong blog hoppers. (The old “Hopalong” cowboy from westerns.) It was fun to put Lulu in charge of Christmas. Hugs winging back to you.

Thanks so much, Liz. It was a point of frustration for two years, because with the first (year) attempt I was so close to being finished when I stopped. Now I know how to do holiday stories — work on the in the summer. LOL. Hugs.

You’re welcome, Teagan. Good to know about timing for writing holiday stories. I’ve only written one, and it’s really depressing.

For me, the holidays bring up a lot of pain. I have another unfinished one. While it’s not depressing as a story, it is for me. If you want to participate, here’s an idea: Just a paragraph or two describing what Christmas might have looked like (decorations, food, visitors, activities) for one of your characters in one of your stories or books — and promote the book. Then be sure to come back to my most recent Christmas in July post with a link to your post, so that it gets more visibility. I’m just throwing that out there. Have a good new week. 🙂

Congratulations on the completion of the novelette, Teagan. Also, apologies I was not much in touch this week. Sarah was unwell, so had to take her to the hospital and I was working on a massive post. However, I will write my next post on Christmas in July from a travel in India perspective and it should be up by Tuesday. I will forward you the link once I publish it. And oh! a belated Happy Fourth of July to you. Hugs. 🙂

Good thinking. When in doubt see an expert. LOL, for Sarah’s sake, I took out the personal information, but I sincerely appreciate you telling me. (I often do that with comments. There was nothing wrong with you sharing it.) I had similar issues throughout my childhood and teens. Interestingly, lately I have found that a spoonful of olive oil, first thing in the morning and again before bed helps me a lot. Interesting, because that was not why I started taking it. Have a lovely weekend.

Congratulations on the novelette, Teagan! A great way to celebrate a birthday. And the story sounds fabulous. I’m sure your Christmas in July challenge will be fantastic and I look forward to checking out what people will be contributing. (I hoped to have some free time this month but it is looking increasingly unlikely, so I’m not sure I’ll be able to join in, but you’ve got me thinking, for sure)! Love to Velma and Daphne and big hugs to you.
