A Birthday Thankyou — from Me

I rarely mention my birthday, even to the closest friends. Mine is not today, but it does fall between now and when I would normally publish another blog post.  It’s also a milestone birthday.

Yes, I’m making the Lucy face about the milestone.

Lord of the Rings fans will know that it’s a Hobbit birthday tradition to give gifts to everyone else.

The video below is my way of thanking all of you, whether you’ve known me since 2012 when I started blogging, or if we’ve only just started getting to blog-know one another.  I know it’s not much, but it’s the best I can do…

Tim Price did all the production work for the song, adding music to my voice.  He’s got mad skills with that.  Be sure to visit Tim’s blog, Off Center and Not Even for music, cats, and photos.  Thank you, Tim.

However, Tim is not to blame for the quirky video I made using the song on which we collaborated.  That video is all the fault of my whimsical quirk.

Thankyou video by Teagan — it’s my cover of an Elton John favorite.

  2. The video is so well done, Teagan. Both you and Tim should be proud of your efforts on it – lovely performances both. Congrats on ringing up another year on the scoreboard of life, and wishing you the best as a new year begins.🎂

  3. Happy Birthday, Teagan! What a sweet video of your singing, the visuals, and the message of gratitude. I mean, the video has cats and a dragon!!! Wonderful stuff 🙂 I hope you have an enjoyable and inspirational birthday! 🌞

    1. What a wonderful comment, David — thank you so much. LOL, you’re pretty new, so I won’t fuss about “the S word” 😉 I’m happy you mentioned the dragon. Animoto kept telling me that I didn’t have enough pictures for the video. Among other images I didn’t plan to use, I added the one of my alter-ego and the dragon. Have a happy Fourth of July. Big hugs.

  4. A lovely song in your lovely voice is a great way to start my Monday morning. Wishing you a Happy Birthday from Sarah & myself. We both wish you a great day and tons of wishes. Also, we made you something on the place where we chat. 🙂 Happy Birthday

  5. I love the SMILE-STONE for milestone! Thanks to Annette. Also I liked how you and Resa talked about Catholicism. I had to convert in order to marry a Catholic man. It turned out better for me with our two boys in Catholic school (back in the 196Os). And it was a good suppport for me as a nurse. The Catholic community was very tight in our small NJ town. Lucky me. Sorry it wasn’t as supportive for Resa. Keep smiling and singing, Teagan. Your joyful voice brings joy to us all. Happy Birthday again. ❤️🎶🎂

    1. Thanks, Christine. I shouldn’t have opened that topic, since I don’t post about religion or politics, and otherwise keep it out of comments — that’s my bad. I’m glad you had a good experience. Thank you again for your kind and encouraging words. We actually got a little rain both yesterday and today — that’s a wonderful birthday present. Haha — thank goodness I don’t have to get out there and do a rain dance. 😀 Hugs.

  6. Le sniff!

    Happy Birthday Teagan!

It’s a pleasure and honour to know you!

The honest feeling you have expressed with your voice is sublime. I can’t tell you how moved I am by this gift.

Tim did a wonderful job putting this all together. He’s a kind person and a great friend.

Everything – the images, song choice, execution, production, cats and love is a beautiful thing.

Second listen with my N, brought me to tears!

    1. You are far too kind, Resa — thank you for everything you said. Tim’s wizardry helped hide the places where my voice was flat. There were so many of those, that I shouldn’t have posted it.
However, I was determined to post anyway because everyone should sing. Singing does us so much emotional and spiritual good, no matter the quality of the voice. Though raised to be religious, I haven’t considered myself a religious person in many decades. I’m spiritual, but I don’t get along with organized religion at all. That said, whenever people made fun of someone with a “tone-deaf” voice I reminded them of the verse “Make a joyful noise…” God didn’t say it had to be beautiful. Just make a joyful noise. Thank you again for the warmth of this comment. Hugs on the wing.

      1. Hugs back, Teagan!
I agree, make a joyous noise! That in itself is beautiful.

PS. Raised catholic, I left the church around 12. I was top of my class in catholic school, but was made to sit at the back of the church when my class got confirmed. I was also not allowed to wear a white dress, like all the other girls.
        Why?
My mom got a divorce from a scum bucket husband and father. I was told I bore her sin.

        What a crock!

        More wing hugs!!!!

        1. %$#&@!!! That’s outrageous. I’m sorry you had to deal with that, Resa. As if being a young girl wasn’t already hard enough. This is the only time you’ll see me talk about religion on my blog: I just can’t take the hypocrisy. I wasn’t Catholic, but Baptist. I won’t go into what happened to me. In my personal experience, the most “Christ-like” (and that’s what Christian is supposed to mean) hardly ever attended church. Actually, most of those didn’t practice any form of the religion at all. Sending more hugs.

    1. Dear Annette — you’re brilliant. I actually have a bottle of bubbly tucked away. I’ll put it in the fridge while you’ve reminded me. LOL, I think I need to celebrate for more than I’m worth, because I ain’t worth much! I love the smile-stone idea. I never liked “milestone” because it sounds too close to millstone (although that’s more accurate). Here’s to smile-stones. Hugs on the wing.

  8. Happy Birthday, Teagan! And thanks for the gift! I love the song, the images and your singing, and Tim is a magician! Do have a beautiful one, in whichever way you enjoy it most. I suspect Velma and Daphne will help with that. Big hugs, my beautiful friend. And enjoy the festive weekend too. ♥

  9. I started to celebrate ‘milestone’ birthdays when I turned 40. Now my next big one will be 80. Where did that time go? The happiest of birthdays to you, dear Teagan.

    Best wishes, Pete. x

    1. It’s so good to see you, Mandy. Yes, I do love many Japanese anime shows. When the template for this video (the slide transitions basically, and animated bits — I made the computer generated images) had the word “kawaii” I had to look it up. I thought it suited the whimsical purpose. Thanks for your kind wishes. Big hugs.

      1. Now I’m really blushing! ^^’ Tim has sent me two other songs that he wrote. I’m trying to choose between frogs and motorcycles. My mood keeps “hopping” around on the choice. LOL. I need to get my mind in the right place so that I can try either. It’s as if the right part of me has to meet his music and lyrics. It’s hard to explain. I’m sure it has something to do with the fact that I play music by ear (I can’t read music). That comes from a different part of my brain. Ribbit.

        1. It sounds like your amphibian brain might be overcoming your reptile (male) brain. Speaking of sides of brains, we knew a woman who claimed she got brain damage in a car wreck. She told us that, fortunately, it was the side of her brain she didn’t use. I kid you not.

    1. What a beautiful and kind comment, Rebecca. I know I was flat throughout the first verse… but see my reply to Resa. Thank goodness for Tim’s magic with the orchestral background to distract from my flat notes.
Thanks for taking time to listen and visit. It’s like having a cup of coffee with you. Hugs winging back to you.
