Hello, everyone.  Happy spring.  To celebrate the new season, I have a handful of “whatnots.”  They range from sublime to silly.  We all need a big dose of happy.  Have fun.

Music

This swaying, sultry, sublime song of spring in the video below is Ella Fitzgerald and Some Other Spring.

I wasn’t familiar with that song until I Googled for songs with spring in the title.  I was awed. Now I’m hoping to find a Karaoke version.

Books

Anne of Green Gables book Wikipedia

A classic novel that many associate with spring — Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery.  You can get this novel free via Project Gutenberg.  (Link to various formats.)  This is one of my favorite stories whether in book or film.

Admittedly, I like a corny joke.  So don’t throw anything.  Here are a handful about spring.

When is the best time to wash your Slinky?  During spring cleaning.

It’s allergy season again? Ugh! You’ve got to be pollen my leg!

I’m so excited about spring, I wet my plants!

What do clouds wear during spring showers? Thunderwear.

How do brand-new spring flowers greet each other?  “Hey, bud!”

Finally, I give you this old Celtic benediction.  May you lean on the strength of the oak tree, and drink in the beauty of each new day. May the spring waters refresh and heal you.

Wishing you an easy coast down the other side of this midweek hump.  Hugs!

  1. Oh, Teagan, I love Ella Fitzgerald. I had to check this out. I also love the groaners. It’s a good day to be silly. Anne of Green Gables is one of those books I read for an assignment that I probably should read again. Thanks for the Irish blessing. I hope you have a great weekend.

  2. A great way to celebrate spring, Teagan. I think we should embrace silliness more often. Silliness brings joy, spontaneity, and a sense of playfulness to our lives, fostering a positive and light-hearted outlook on the world. So bring on the “Whatnot Wednesdays” !!! Many thanks for giving a lift to my day.

    1. Rebecca, I was just thinking about you. I’m in the middle of doing something for “Fe-Lines” for a future Whatnot Wednesday — and immediately thought of you. Thanks for the big smile you just gave me. I’m trying to make a point of doing more positive posts. Hugs on wings of sunshine!

  3. Teagan, I’m wondering where I’ve been all this time! I’ve never seen any of these Spring jokes and missed out! 😀😀Love these and along with the beautiful song, your wonderful Celtic greeting and mention of the wonderful Anne of Green Gables I’m feeling very Spring-like! xx

  4. Thanks for combining a variety of happiness into a single post! I wanted to throw in a couple jokes into the mix, so I Googled spring jokes and I enjoyed these:

What season is best to go on a trampoline? Spring-time.
What did the tree say during springtime? “Well, this is a re-leaf!”

    1. Haha! The druid that lurks within me really liked the second one, Dave. Thanks for adding more jokes.
I’m glad you liked the variety. When the idea for these Whatnot posts came to me, I meant to make each post a collection of different but related things on a single subject. Have a great rest of the week. Hugs.

  5. Great music and LOL jokes. Thanks. Anne of Green Gables is my favourite book too. I just finished listening to an audio version, narrated by Sandra Oh, and fell in love with it all over again.

    1. Cool beans! I didn’t know about her audio, Darlene. Actually, Robbie had recommended Audible to me several times. I finally bought a subscription to it about a year ago, and I’m hooked on audio books. (My vision is low, and my eyes tire so quickly that reading just for pleasure is… rare.) Thanks for the recommendation. I appreciate you visiting. Hugs.

  6. Perfect. My father had a spring ditty that his dad told him

    Spring is sprung

    The grass is riz

I wonder where the birdie is?

The bird is on the wing!

But that’s absurd; the wing is on the bird!

    1. Hi, Mandy. That’s hysterical. Thanks for the link.
By the way, my comments at your blog don’t seem to stick. Maybe the WordPress gremlins are sending them to the spam folder — or just eating them. I just wanted you to know I had tried.

Have a wonderful rest of the week. Hugs.

      1. Thank you, Teagan, for coming over to my blog. I found one comment from you; such a lovely one! Thanks to your comment I reread all the other comments on my post and came away with a happy smile to start my day. 🙂

    1. Haha. If the little blighters would stop trying to make their nests in my carport… I would like spring a lot better. It’s metal, and by summer the silly things would fry in it. The neighbors think I’ve lost my mind, out there a couple of times every day, with my long stick-like grabber thing stretching to take down the twigs before they can lay eggs. LOL, and scolding the birds. Imagine a fat old woman, waving around a long stick/grabber, fussing at little birds.
I’m enchanted with that song too. Thanks for visiting. Hugs.
