Welcome, all.  Dan’s post inspired me to share at least a little something.  At Pixabay I turned up this bright door and window.  I admit, I love green, no matter what shade.  However, this one prompted a thought that I decided to share and hopefully involve you.

I like the simplicity of the lines and symmetry of this door.  The handle-shaped doorknob looks just right for it too.  However, it occurred to me that the image is, in a way, a blank canvas.  So, my question to you is this.  Let your imagination go wild. After all, we’re pretending so money and time are not obstacles.

    1. Thank you, Sue. I’m bearing down and trying to force myself to do something (tomorrow) that my PTSD problems don’t allow me to do. PTSD is a neurological response, not “mind over matter.” So unfortunately it will be an extremely difficult weekend. But I’m wishing you a good one, and thankful for your good wishes. Hugs.

  7. I love the simplistic lines and color of the door and window. I would go with multi-colored lights and lots of red to accept the green. Perhaps fluffy red tinsel and big velveteen bows. What fun!

  13. I think green and red are a perfect marriage. Like John, I’d have a darker green wreath – so that it stands out – but with lots of bright red. Berries, baubles, bows or poinsettia, but I’d keep it as simple as possible. And, yes, I’d have red candles in the window – either one large one or three of different heights.

          1. I’m really enjoying how the story progresses, Teagan. And I can already see in Journey 14, that Emlyn has developed her skills with some trepidation. Not believing what she is capable of doing. And it’s already a page turner! I’m glad I’m reading it, one book after another. 🧡🎶

  15. I love green it is one of my favourite colours..would I keep it simple with a beautiful white candle in the window or would I go the whole hog and go for red or black and silver for the wreath and decorations…

  16. I like the door and window just as the picture shows them, really beautiful!! A subdued decoration between the door and window would be good, being sure not to destroy the beauty of green, one of the beautiful colors of Christmas! Perhaps a little red to give added beauty of the other Christmas color would be appropriate!

  18. I’m not exactly sure of how I might decorate, Teagan, but I am draw to the height difference between the door and the window. I think I’d like to see Santa’s sleigh on the door, with the reindeer resting on the window. Maybe the door is decorated like a chimney. Maybe things are just parked outside but the window is decorated so that it appears that Santa is inside. I think I’d have him eating cookies.

  20. I like the linear simplicity of the door and window but I would break it up with a little trompe l’oeil. The two centre panels in the door could be done to look like someone trying to get out. The bottom of the window could have the bum and feet of somebody going in. I do love a little whimsy. They could look like elves…

  22. I would put a red and white wreath on the door. For the window, I’d twist red and white garland and hang Christmas ornaments from them. That way they could be seen both inside and out.

  26. Lots of red lights and red dangley trimmings. Maybe a bit of silver and gold hear and there, but complimentary colors rule at Christmastime. It does make ask “what’s behind the green door?”

  28. A very interesting question, Teagan. As there is green already, I get a bit of red is called for. Poinsettias, big red baubles, a huge red bow… A red-nosed reindeer? And snow… Thanks, Teagan, and I agree. A Peril in Ectoplasm is the perfect read for all seasons. ♥
