You may have noticed that I took down my pages for Designed & Ready Book Covers. Eventually I’ll promote them again. That’s not to say that I wouldn’t do a book cover for someone who knows about them — I’m just not advertising.  For now, I’m focusing on writing.

That said, I’m delighted that another book for which I created the cover is taking flight! His Ladyship by Stevie Turner is now available for pre-order for just $0.99.  Get it now, because the price will go up to $2.99 on October 24th when it is published.

Announcing “His Ladyship” by Stevie Turner

It was exciting to get Stevie’s email looking for a cover for a coming out story.  When she described the details, I felt I had just the thing.  Here’s how I described the symbolism of the book cover to her:

The colored swirling smoke represents the person being surrounded by uncertainty — both on the model’s part for making a decision, and the reactions of friends and family, including their lack of understanding.
The upper-face/eyes are covered, masking the protagonist’s identity until everything is settled. I’ve made this deliberate with the jagged paper edge.
The way the lipstick is being carefully applied shows the heartfelt importance of the decision.
That the rest of the face is in black and white, represents the absence of “life” in the pre-change existence.

  17. It is a striking cover, and I congratulate Stevie on her new book and on her great taste! I hope your writing is going well, and I know all of you who know your work will keep you in mind if we need any covers, even if you’re not actively promoting them now.
