The Delta Pearl — Dry dock due to bad Internet

Apologies, my chuckaboos. As you’ve gathered, The Delta Pearl is not here today.

I’m worried about many of you because of the terrible fires, particularly the ones along the Pacific coast states and provinces. Also, for everyone, I pray that each of you are safe, well, and happy, no matter where you are or what is happening in your life.

If I didn’t waste so much time trying to reconnect to my pathetic Internet (thanks a lot [insert raspberry] TDS Telecom), I might be able to get something done. A few tidbits were all I could manage to pull together.

Last Time

Eliza commented as she held the cartouche to the light.  “I believe the hieroglyphs mean emerald.”

Then Émeraude said, “Whomever or whatever left this cartouche must have something to do with that cloud,” I interjected.  “But I still don’t understand what it means.  I feel like I’m being sent a message, but I don’t understand.”

Next Time

Next time, Garnet Redford, the Chief Porter comes back. We also get glimpses of Blue John Boulton, Coral, Amethyst, and Onyx.

Garnet and I exchanged a puzzled look.  We bent for a closer look at the object.  Inside the cage was a yellow enameled bird figure.  It adorned a rectangular wooden box that had curling silver shapes at the corners.  There was a tiny handle on the side.

So stay tuned, my chuckaboos.  The Delta Pearl will be back next weekend with an all new episode.

Be well, be happy, my chuckaboos

This serial is made possible in spite of (not because of) the deplorable lack of Internet service from TDS Telecom.  They are even worse than the government about claiming no problem exists in the face of  failure.  TDS Telecom meets every complaint and service call by saying they find no problem. Their technicians come to my home and refuse to do any work or replace equipment, even when their offsite managers have instructed them to do so. They brought equipment that they openly state does not work properly. They refuse to let me talk to a manager. They refuse to promise to send someone other than the previous do-nothing tech.  They refuse to make sure the technicians have working hardware with them. My letters, emails, and tweets go unanswered.  Dear readers, please do not comment here in response to this paragraph. Just be aware of my awful experience with this so called provider.

  1. I share your concerns about those that are experience the fires. Vancouver was under smoke for many days, with alerts being given out for people to stay indoors because of the poor air quality. I can only imagine the horror of being close to the infernal. Looking forward to the next chapter – love the twists and turns. Hugs and more hugs!

    1. I get anxiety attacks just thinking about it. At two different times in my life I lived in townhouse communities. Both times a neighbor 1 or 2 doors down accidentally set the building on fire. Fortunately neither was catastrophic — and that was bad enough. The scope of what is happening is just beyond comprehension.
I’ll see you at the riverside then, Rebecca. I just finished writing the next chapter. Huge hugs right back.

    1. Ha. I am, Teri. I’ve gone from profanity curses to actual curses. LOL.
Wishing you huge success with your Subject A36 ebook — will be discounted to $0.99 for one day only on Friday, October 16th! It’s a fabulous book, and I hope everyone here will take advantage of that offer. Hugs.

  2. Look forward to next week, chuckaboo!
You must be soooo irritated by the messed up internet.
I’m doing a quickie post on GLAM today, then heading over to Art Gowns to work on one of my “Gowntoons” episodes.
When I return to GLAM, I will do my Fiona post!
Take care of you, the way you ask us all to take care of ourselves!

    1. Sigh… I just lost my reply to you, Resa — the Internet. It’s depressing and bloody frustrating. Internet is my lifeline, particularly since the COVID Apocalypse has me housebound.

Yay! I can’t wait for your Fiona Finch post. I know it will have me “in the pink!” 😀
Thank you for everything, my chuckaboo!

  3. I’m so sorry that your troubles are persisting, Teagan. That must be horribly frustrating.
And I second DL’s news. The fires are still burning, but two days of rain has made a huge difference. We can breathe out here. Thanks for thinking of us.

  5. Our internet has been very erratic these past several weeks, but after a few hours with a tech at our house, it is better now. Fingers crossed. I hope your situation is resolved soon. Take good care of yourself.

    1. Glad you were able to get it fixed, Gwen. TDS has been telling me nothing is wrong with mine for over a year… lack of accountability and lack of integrity on their part. But I remind myself how much worse so many others are experiencing. Be well, be happy. Hugs on the wing!

  6. Sorry you’re having such a frustrating battle with the Internet. You can’t write under those conditions and we all understand. So enjoy your weekend and do something fun.

I too send my prayers to everyone in these fire zones. I can’t begin to imagine what that must be like for them. Or for the firefighters battling these blazes. Then there are those who are trying to survive floods.

I swear, Mother Nature is either on steroids or off her bi-polar meds! Let’s hope she gets her act together pronto.

See you on the Pearl next week!

    1. Ha! Ginger, I agree. Mother Nature needs to get those refills pronto. Thanks for your good wishes. I’m trying to answer some comments as fast as I can before the Internet goes out again. Everything I experience tells me that they are messing around (dishonestly) with where they divert bandwidth (power). But I don’t have the leverage or clout to do anything about it. Thanks for taking time to comment, my chuckaboo!

    1. Tee-hee! Thanks Pat. I remember a “game” from when I was a kid. Everyone was supposed to use an adjective or adverb to describe themselves that started with the same letter as their first name. So I’ll be tantalizing Teagan. LOL. That made me snort. Thanks for visiting, my chuckaboo!

  7. So many people have been having internet problems of one kind or another, no one is going to hold it against you because there is no Delta today!
Lavinia in Oregon sent me a link to an interactive fire map and I’ve been checking it at least twice a day, plus our TV news items on those fires. Thankfully they had rain yesterday that helped a great deal.

    1. I hope Lavinia is okay, GP. I’ve been most worried about her and Rick and the cats. If she sent you a link that’s a sign that she’s okay. I’m terrified of the fires — which goes badly with my existing anxiety disorder. So, I don’t try as hard as I could to get news. (All my communications, TV, music, etc are via Internet.) I am glad to know about the rain, yes that should help. I appreciate you taking time to leave this comment, my chuckaboo!

  8. I’m looking forward to the next chapter, but writing should be enjoyable, not a frustrating battle. I join you in wishing safety, better weather and an end to the fires. Take care, Teagan. I hope you have an easy weekend.

  9. We got much rain here on the east coast from Sally, but our area is fine. I wish I could send rain to everybody on the west coast to help with the fires and drought.

I wonder what’s in the box adorned with the bird. Internet problems are frustrating!

  10. My thoughts are with everyone dealing with the fires and weather. We finally got a break and enjoyed blue skies, sun, and some clean air after a month of smoke. Fingers crossed the rains come to the fires and the other storms subside. Nice teaser. Sending lots of hugs
