Happy Halloween and Happy NaNoWriMo

vint pumpkin head cardMy favorite of all holidays… and my favorite yearly challenge… It’s my time of year!

So for all my spirited, Ghost in the Kitchen-loving, heavenly haunt hunters, poltergeist pursuers, and gremlin getters I bid you —

Happy Halloween!

nanowrimo-Bernstein

I’m glad my spirits are high (and I don’t mean Maestro Martino has gotten locked into another wine bottle), because I hope to begin National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) with a running start on November 1st.  I’m even taking leave next week in hope of a great beginning.

Be sure to ask, “What’s your word count?” because that will help me stay the course and WriMo.  My book for this year is a quirky urban fantasy, called The Guitar Mancer.  I’ll try to tell you a little about it as I rewind the original serial Three Things on the weekend blog.

So to all you writers out there who are taking the challenge this year, good luck and —

Happy NaNoWriMo!

Wishing you happiness and treats, hugs and kind-hearted whimsy, and a purrrfectly, wickedly wonderful Halloween.

  1. Hi Andrea and thanks so very much for commenting. Your latest post is absolutely wonderful. I hope everyone will visit you to read it. So inspiring…

I’m glad you asked my word count, because that really does help me stay the course. The daily average to get 50,000 words in 30 days is just under 1,700 words. By the time i finish the seen i’m doing right now (took a dinner/blog break) i should have that much. I’m a slow writer, so this is a lot for me.
    Huge hugs my friend!

  3. Wow Evelyne! I didn’t realize you would WriMo — excellent.
There was just now a little neighborhood parade. I don’t know where they found so many kids, but there was quite a swarm — well behaved though. With a perfectly dreadful marching band, and motor cycle police. They always stop right in front of my windows (because there is a 4-way stop sign) but the drums keep going. It rattles my windows and terrifies my cats. The parade would be adorable without the band and drums. :/

  5. Hi Teagan! Happy Halloween!! It’s not such a big deal here in Italy because they celebrate the Day of the Dead on 1st November. Everyone puts Chrysanthemums and lighted candles by their loved ones’ graves. Hey, I’m doing Nano too. First time for me. See you over there! Hugs, Siobhan x

    1. Thank you Siobhan. I find all the different holidays fascinating, so i thank you for sharing that.
I didn’t know you did NaNoWriMo. If you want a writing buddy my ID there is “Riordain” (how is it that somebody always has my unusual name and i can’t use it?).
Good WriMo luck and happy Day of the Dead (if it’s proper to wish you such).
      Great-big-hug.

  6. You’re so kind Suzanne. WriMo 2012 gave me Atonement, Tennessee. 2013…Didn’t go so well, even though i did everything i was supposed to do, but that “Draft” is a long way from being finished. 2014 — i’m hoping for good things with The Guitar Mancer and feeling pretty good about it right now. Huge hugs!

  7. Happy Halloween (not celebrated too much here although I love the idea). We’ll keep track of each other’s count in NaNoWriMo! Excited (actually I’m excited about your story too…Very curious)

    1. What?! No Halloween…. I can’t help feeling sad for that. Everyone should have a day to be something other than themselves. 🙂
Glad you’re excited about novel writing month (i know you have a lot going on). I’ll hold you to that about the word count, because i’m terribly slow at novel-writing… :/
      Happy WriMo!

Thanks for the NaNoWriMo luck — i sure need it! Best of luck to you too. Congrats on reaching the “to the editor” stage with the latest book. Huge hugs!
