Daphne: Hear (hear…hear) Me (me…me) Human (an…an). I (I…I) am the
Energy Oracle (el…el)! To attain enlightenment, you must brush me (me…me).
Yummy Human, why aren’t you brushing me? Didn’t you hear my supernatural echo voice? Be sure to use both brushes.
Whatnot Wednesday

More on Oracle Cards
Hi, everyone. If you are not familiar with the project management term “scope creep,” then this post is an example. Seriously, I thought I might get away with taking a picture of one oracle card and copying an inspiring meaning from it, just to make a quick post. Then all sorts of things jumped into it. First, I decided to go ahead and do a 3-card reading for myself, not intending to include it in the post. THEN one of the cards I drew for myself was a door, and you know that means Thursday Doors. I knew it would make a good example of a reading layout, for those who are unfamiliar with readings. So here we are.
(If you want a little more on oracle cards, here’s my recent post discussing them.)
A 3-Card Reading
The deck I used is the Energy Oracle Cards by Sandra Anne Taylor. She used a variety of influences in creating this beautiful deck of cards. In a way that bothers me… it’s like hitting a sharp bump in the road because the various individual cards are so strongly, specifically about particular themes. She has blended a few general topics, and then chakras, angels, Qabalah, and tarot. However, like I said in the previous post, I’m out of practice. In refreshing my knowledge, I soon realized that all of those things are part of traditional tarot. Don’t let me confuse you with that statement. This is an oracle deck, not tarot. However, it is one of many oracle decks that reflects some of the tarot cards.

I wanted encouragement or guidance about my lacking ability to focus on my novel in progress.
It only took one reading for me to know that I like this oracle deck very much indeed. Here is my go-to for a quick reading. Most people use the cards of a three-card layout as “Past, Present, and Future.” That never chimed with me. Instead, to answer my question, I use:
1) What is unknown about the situation?
2) What are the obstacles?
3) How to proceed for best results?
Here’s a quick summary of my reading, to show you how it works.
The situation: The need to get back to my current novel.
1) What is unknown? That card was Action. You are on the right track. Now is the time for more aggressive forward movement.

2) What the heck is holding me back? I drew the Door to Personal Healing and Happiness. Now, this title, which means positive change, might seem like something that couldn’t possibly be an obstacle. So, we have to look deeper. The hold-ups here are about “not deserving” and poor self-image. The message is that the changes you’ve been working on are ready to blossom. Make sure you see your intentions through.
3) How to proceed for best results? The card is called Victory. (Now, was that one encouraging or what?) Okay, you should know that in readings, the meaning of each card is influenced by the others around it. This “outcome” card ties back to the obstacles card — remember I mentioned feelings of not deserving (the need to be willing to receive). So, for my particular question, the how to proceed answer is: Let yourself be open to victory on every level, now.

Thursday Doors

I had to make the card in the above image my contribution to this week’s Thursday Doors, because I’ve always seen that weekly challenge as doors to friendship and happiness. That’s what doors symbolically represent to me. Sandra Anne Taylor included with the Energy Oracle cards a little guidebook that provides meanings for every card. At the end of each entry she adds an affirmation as an additional meaning. That affirmation made a perfect closing for this post. Maybe you’ll say it along with me:
I am strong, focused, and self-directed.
I have the power to create wonderful new realities in my life.

These are cards I could have drawn myself, Teagan. I’ve been putting off my next novel for far too long and making excuses – although the wedding and reception stuff was legit. But I made some progress yesterday and met with my writer’s group Monday night, so that inspired me. Here’s to both of us moving forward!

Teri, that’s wonderful about your writers group, I’m a little envious. 😽 Honestly… I haven’t stopped procrastinating yet. It’s ridiculous… But I’m delighted that you enjoyed this post. Hugs.

Teagan, your posts always open up an unexpected doorway, scope creep or not. This one was such a delight to follow. What I appreciate most about oracle cards is how they invite a quiet moment with ourselves. For me, they’re less about prediction and more about reflection, a simple way to pause, breathe, and listen to the thoughts that don’t surface when life moves too quickly. The cards are exquisite

Those quiet moments can truly be something to cherish. It’s lovely to see you, Rebecca.
As I said in the previous post about cards, I never see readings as a tool for predicting, because the future is always in flux. Although, there are people who use them in a divinatory, and if they do, I’m not here to argue with or judge their beliefs.
Our present has been called The Information Age for quite a few years now. And yet we can be so very disconnected, not just from one another, but from ourselves — from our inner. For me, the cards — even a one-card reading provide a way to reconnect with that inner self.
Thanks, most of the cards in this deck really are pretty. I’m pleased with it. Hugs on the wing.

Teagan, I feel the same way. Those quiet moments you describe are truly something to cherish, especially in a world overflowing with information but so little space to simply be with ourselves. I also see the cards as a gentle way of reconnecting with that inner voice we often overlook. Your perspective always feels thoughtful and grounded, and I love how you honour everyone’s approach without judgement. Sending many hugs on speedy wings to you and the Scoobies!!

A wonderful affirmation to close with, Teagan. Many people suffer from low self esteem and feelings of inadequacy. For many of us these feelings were nurtured during our childhoods. These are great and uplifting cards.

Thanks, Robbie. Yes, you’re right about that for sure (childhood). I’m glad you felt that way about this deck of cards. I think so too. Have a splendid weekend. Hugs.

Thanks Resa. It really is a good looking deck. A few of the cards look too… photographic for my taste, but most of them are lovely. The foil “frames” seem to bring light into all the art. LOL, and thanks for the vote of confidence. 😀 Hugs winging back to you.

Thanks, Liz. I guess that like a story, it’s best to let a blog post be whatever it needs to be, rather than forcing it to conform to whatever constraints. Hugs.

Teagan, I like reading about readings because they keep me interested in exploring my cards, as well as help open my mind to what I should take from those I do of my own. Let us all go forth and create wonderful new realities in our lives. Hugs to you and the Scoobies. Happy Thanksgiving.

I’m glad you enjoyed this, Bruce. “create wonderful new realities”… if you haven’t already, you might enjoy checking out some of Neville Goddard’s work. Either way, here’s to those wonderful realities. Hugs winging back to you. 🙂

Thank you for the recommendation of Neville Goddard, Teagan. I am reading up on him a bit now, and his concepts are interesting to me. The action of manifesting is one I’d like to learn more about, and his works look to be a great place to start. He seems like he was way ahead of his time when it comes to using imagination and faith to effect change. Thanks again!

I agree that Goddard was ahead of his time along with Napoleon Hill around the same time. Although stepping much farther back, there was a big surge of such ideas in the early 1900s. Their books are still out there, like Charles F. Haanel, who published The Master Key System (1912) about mental magnetism and manifestation, and Wallace D. Wattles, whose book The Science of Getting Rich (1910) linked creative thought to financial success. Anyhow, have a great weekend.

A super reading, Teagan. Looks like some energy will be on your side when you get back to the WIP. The furminator is a wonderful tool. Our cats used to line up for a treatment. Happy Thanksgiving to you.

And yet, I’m still procrastinating, LOL. Daphne loves to get brushed. Velma does too, but she just can’t be still long enough. So I go shuffling after her, bent over, furminator in hand, trying to get a swipe on the run. 😀 Thanks for commenting and for the good wishes. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours too. Hugs.

A perfect reading for my sister who is, like me, sometimes her own antagonist! Sometimes it seems easier to be kind to others than to ourselves, yes? As you say, thanks for opening this door!

I didn’t know there were different kinds of cards! What a gorgeous post and of course having either or both Scoobies makes it all worthwhile. I also have a furminator and usually collect enough hair for another cat when I brush Garfield!

Furminators are pretty amazing, aren’t they? Oh yes, there are hundreds of different decks — both for oracles and for tarot. At this point, I’d be surprised if there wasn’t a deck somewhere for any “theme” we could name. Hugs.

What a beautiful post, Teagan! I am always happy to see the Scoobies in action; the cards are gorgeous; and your three cards reading illustrates well how the Oracle cards can be used. I am sure the reading will inspire you, and I totally agree with the message of the door card. Big hugs and love to the Scoobies!

Hi, Brian. LOL, probably something like…
How do I get Yummy to NOT holler when I show my affection with a bite? 1) Be persistent, 2) Always come back when she hollers, 3) Don’t bite so hard.
She’s actually gotten a lot better about the relentlessness of her “love bites,” but it took about two years. Have a great rest of the week.
