Whatnot Wednesday & Scoobies Tubthumping

Wednesday, August 13, 2025

Hello all.  Congratulations.  You’ve made it to the top of the midweek hump.   Here’s another Whatnot Wednesday, staring the Scoobies.  But first… here’s a related video of a smart kitty using a face massager:

You’ve had the vocal stylings of Daphne a couple of times now as she sings while bathing.  Today, Velma demanded her time at the microphone.

Hey!  Do you Scoobies mean to tell me that neither of you are interested in the toys and treats that just came from Amazon?  That cat on YouTube loves the cheek-massager-whatnot —— but both of you ran from the thing.

Should I cue the theme from “Jaws,” Velma?

  1. Loved the face massager! My cats would run from it! There are very few toys they like, all ones that involved me to play with them. They are also incredibly picky eaters – I fell for an ad about natural cat food and they turned their noses up at it. I’m so glad to see the Scoobies in their natural habitat – makes me feel better about Garfield and Samantha. And the Scoobies LIKE each other!

    1. Hi, Noelle. Haha, yes they definitely want the toys that require us to play with them. I think it’s a secret feline plot to force us to do what they think is the correct kind of exercise. LOL. I imagine them saying, “I get out all the toys, and it’s as if my human just expects ME to do all the work.” Hugs!

  2. I love that song. Laurie added it to her playlist. I also love Velma’s version. The kitty massage is cool. I massage our kitties like that with my fingers. They love it. I call it, “licking the kitties!”

    1. Hi, Tim. My past cats always loved a face massage too. These two might settle down into that eventually. As it is, they try to give love-bites when they like something. Daphne was terrible about it the first 2 years, but thankfully she’s beginning to learn that biting is a bad idea. Anyhow, they really did run away from the massager. I tried everything I could think of to get them interested in it. But nooooo. They finally sniffed it, but that was it. Maybe they’ll feel differently about it some other time. Hugs to you and yours.

    1. It beats other songs that have been getting stuck in my head, John. LOL, Velma doesn’t seem to realize that Daphne really could knock her down (and hard) if she wanted to. Shameless little rapscallion. 🐱 🐱 Hugs winging back to you.

    1. GP, there’s a YouTuber in an Asian country who has all sorts of animals. One of her cats loves that thing — just lounges with his head across the thing, getting automatic chin rubs. (It’s actually a scalp massager, but they’ve begun listing them with cat toys.)
I had it on my list for 6 months before I decided to go ahead and get it for them. I really thought Daphne would want it because she’s always rubbing her cheek on things. Although I realized they might not like it, I DID NOT expect them to literally run away from it. LOL.

        1. Haha. I actually tried that. She looked at me like I was nuts. So would have anyone watching. LOL

It’s really supposed to be a scalp massager for people. I thought maybe if the scent of my hair got on it, that would if not make them interested, maybe it would at least make them stop being afraid of it. The thing felt pretty darned good on my scalp. But those 4 legs (ending in lots of tiny silicone “fingers”) move in multiple directions, and it tangled my hair. Although I could honestly recommend it for people with short hair.

    1. Haha, they nearly “rocked” that hammock over, Dan. Velma has been pretty full of herself lately in trying to make Daphne play. She doesn’t just “push the envelope” she pushes the whole mailbag. Daphne carries on dramatically about it, but doesn’t really go on the offensive. Velma needs to watch it about pushing her too far… Daphne is a LOT bigger. Hugs.

  3. Very talented Velma and Daphne. I love their antics and the new and improved lyrics to a very uplifting song. Very apt for a Wednesday! Thanks for such a cheery post, dear Teagan! And love to the Scoobies, of course! (I do understand their issues as well. I’m not big on massagers either!)
