Hello, everyone.  Wouldn’t it be nice to open the door to something terrific — and free?  Well, come on in, because that’s what we’re doing today.  Here are two free offers from my author friends.  One is an e-book and the other is an audio book.

Sarah Mallery:  Tender Enemies

FREE! 9/12/24 — 9/16/24

It’s 1941 in New York City, a time before Pearl Harbor, when Nazi spies are everywhere in the U.S. and no one knows who’s working for whom. In comes beautiful Lily, paid to gather intelligence by setting up a “honey trap” for Joe Stiles, a supposed German infiltrator. Problem is, she soon faces a danger she isn’t prepared for––falling in love. Reviewed by Essien Asian for Readers’ Favorite

”S.R. Mallery demonstrates a fantastic degree of attention to detail with the timeline by using references like Lily’s choice of shoes for a date. Lily’s flashbacks elucidate how she ended up in such terrible financial circumstances and draw the reader into her journey, showing rich and nuanced character development. Mallery replaces the traditional cloak-and-dagger approach synonymous with espionage adventures with something more complex but original. The author builds the tension, encouraging readers to think outside the box when considering the connections that bind the characters. A prime example is the way Lily sees John McMillan in a fatherly role when, in reality, their relationship feels more like she is replacing one manipulator with another. The romantic subplot provides a nice break from the action-packed main story. Mallery describes the intimate details of the developing affair, highlighting both parties’ cautious approach to avoid possible heartbreak. Readers will love Tender Enemies because of Mallery’s masterful storytelling and deft pacing, which turn it into the ideal blend of romance, action, and drama.” Sarah (S.R.) Mallery links:

This is the beginning of one of my favorite urban fantasy series. Just to make sure you don’t feel mislead, the following audio book is free for you to keep, if you get a trial subscription to Audible. The book would still be yours at the end of the trial subscription. Personally, I very much enjoy my Audible subscription. I won’t go into the details of how it works here, but I’m pleased with how it is handled and the multitude of books that are available, plus generous samples of each, that let me get a feel for both the story and the narrator.

Olga Núñez MiretPink Matters

The audio book of Pink Matters (book-1 in Olga’s “Angelic Business” young adult, urban fantasy series) is free with a trial subscription to Audible. Amazon Verified Purchase Review by A Reader’s Perspective
Quirky. I got sucked into this story immediately and felt like I was reading a teenagers diary. The story is clever and easy to follow. Angels and Demons for YA. The main characters, Pink (or Petra), is a funny, quirky kind of girl who is a duckling waiting to become a swan. G is a lot of fun and the way he gets her attention is great. I like the idea of someone hovering outside windows now instead of climbing into them all the time or turning up unexpected. I got this book on a free promo and I really enjoyed it. A great start and it definitely left me wanting for more. I wonder what will happen next.”

  1. Came late here. However, both stories look wonderfully engaging. I’m a big WW2 enthusiast, not sure why, but I love to watch more documentaries on WW2. I guess I’m more into tactical decisions and mind games, how someone outsmart the other and games people play to extract information or to find a mole and all that. Similarly, I also love reading some controversial books about Indian history because generally in schools they just teach you Gandhi and all that, but that’s just one perspective fed to generations after generations and as Pink Floyd said – All in all you’re just another brick in the wall. I will look out for these books. Hugs & Take Care 🙂

    1. Hi Sharukh. Many thanks for visiting. It’s a subject that fascinates many people. GP Cox, whom you might see in comments at my blog, has a blog dedicated specifically to WWII history. Often it’s focused on the events in the Pacific Theatre part of that war, and sometimes with personal “letters home” from their father. Here’s a link if you want to check it out. https://pacificparatrooper.wordpress.com/2024/09/16/land-letter-vii/
Hugs winging across the planet back to you.

  3. How cool is that? Reminds me of a song:

    They’re free
    They’re free
    And freedom tastes of reality
    They’re free
    They’re free
And they are waiting for you to order them

  4. Teagan, thank you SO much for not only highlighting me and Olga, but doing it in your incredibly creative way! Much appreciated….oxox

And Olga, your book looks delightful, and I shall go over to Audible to get my own copy, because having read several of your books, I know how good it will be!

  5. First of all, thanks very much, dear Teagan, for featuring my audiobook. You are a star and always so kind. Audiobook are always a bit of an adventure and it’s difficult to know how they will work, but I really like the narrator and she did a great job of the whole series, so I hope some people can discover her work through this book. And, if anybody prefers to read it, it is available free as well, so anybody can get a taste of the series and see if they want to know more.

And what a luxury to be in such great company. Like Dan, I’ve also got Sarah’s book. I’ve read quite a few of her stories (short stories and novels) and loved them all, but your post made me realise I had lost track of her writing recently, and it’s time to catch up again.

Thanks again, good luck with all your WIPs (I know you have a few things cooking and all sound exciting), big hugs and love to Daphne and Velma. I’m sure you don’t have a moment of boredom with them!

    1. Olga, it’s my pleasure. Thank you for making comments. I have been dragging my hurt foot and back through the process of getting dressed, because a friend is coming to take me to the pharmacy. So I haven’t been able to work comments yet this morning. I’ll be back online soon. Thanks very much. Hugs

    1. Dan, what lovely words to read first thing inn the morning (for me).. Thank you..And yes, there is def romance in the book, but also a LOT of history of a very scary time in the US that hasn’t been talked about in recent times. 🙂

    2. I’d describe Sarah’s books as more of a romantic story than a romance — other elements get at least equal billing, or more. I’m not big on romances either, but I like her books.
Olga’s books (depending on genre) either fascinate me or lift my spirits, or both. Thanks for opening this door. Hugs.
