A Tale of Faeries — Coming for the Holidays

A “Black Friday” announcement, and a cover reveal! But first…

WordPress weirdness attacked this post. Sadly some of your comments were lost. I apologize.

Thistledown — Midsummer Bedlam

Several of you will remember Thistledown — Midsummer Bedlam from 2017, when I posted it here as a serial.  It’s a set-your-imagination-free, wildly whimsical story.  However, it has a dark undercurrent.  With that in mind, I describe it as a tale of faeries written for grownups, but suitable for children of all ages.

Thistledown Girl

Thistledown — Midsummer Bedlam is coming your way, in book form, in time for the holidays.

I hope everyone who celebrated Thanksgiving had a wonderful day.   Wishing everyone a happy weekend.  The Delta Pearl will be here tomorrow. Thanks for visiting, my chuckaboos.

    1. Thanks, Teri. Yeah, and I can’t believe it’s been that long since the things that inspired the dark undercurrent of the story started… Looking back at it as I edit, the story itself isn’t anywhere near as dark as my head was. A fairytale with some big words… what age range do you think I should say it is? Hugs on the wing!

          1. I could see it being suitable for kids 8 and up maybe? If I remember correctly, there’s nothing unsuitable for kids, they’d just need to be old enough to understand some of the concepts. And you should totally sell Bob plushie hummingbirds with it.

            1. That’s a fabulous idea, Teri.
“8 and up” sounds good to me. My stumbling block about ages is not about anything inappropriate, but about the reading level of a lot of words. I did write it with my adult blog audience in mind — and I’m not wanting to change that. Besides, I couldn’t publish it any time soon with a rewrite of that magnitude. Thanks for your great feedback.

    1. Oh thank goodness! I’m so glad Lucio is doing well.
I’m heartened that you remember this serial, Lavinia. It was at the bottom of my list to “finish” but I saw that I could book-ize it quickly — and get it out in time for Christmas. But I still think about the Guitar Mancer. When Grover (the dad) became a popular character, I had to rethink the entire story. So I keep him and The Mother character simmering on my back burner. Hugs on the wing!

    1. Thanks so much, Deborah. I put a huge amount of effort into the launch for A Ghost in the Kitchen back in September (which was supposed to be the best month to launch a book). Like Thistledown, it was a former serial, and it did not do well, despite how well recieved its launch was. So I won’t be doing much for this one. Just a few teasers and announcements. Thanks for visiting. Hugs!

    1. There’s no such thing as late here, Michael. I suddenly made the decision to publish Thistledown. So, I did an extra post. I’m not sure if Thistledown will translate very well, mostly because of all the crazy character names. I wrote it at a time when I could no longer deny the things that were happening in this country. The story was not intended to be about that, but in my heart, Thistledown was unavoidably tied to it. While it is a happy whimsical story, I felt heavy-hearted darkness while writing it. Strange combination, huh? Anyway, it is a fairytale written with a grownup audience in mind, but still could be read to children. Neil Gaiman had easily as much violence and dark situations in his Graveyard Book. Really more.
Anyhow, it’s always good to see you, whenever you can visit. Hugs!

  1. I’ve been blogging less than a year, Teagan, so unlike many others here, I’m not familiar with your book. The amount of compliments is testament to how good it must be.

    1. Thanks, Tim. It was nice and quiet. I hope yours improved hugely after the power outage.
Glad you liked the video. This is the blog serial from 2017 — with Catseye Glimmer. I promised several people back then that I would “bookize” it when I could. So I’m trying to format and edit it now. Happy weekend hugs.
