New Serial Preparation — Transportation

Hello, everyone.  As most of you know, the blog serial I’ve been writing for the past two years, ended last weekend.  You can find The Delta Pearl conclusion here.  I’m taking a short break from blog-serial writing — but not a break at all, generally.

Anyhow, my next serial will be full-on pantsering.  I’ll fly by the seat of my pants.  Every aspect of the new serial will be driven by “random reader things.”  However… I suddenly realized that I didn’t want to give up shouting All aboard! at the beginning of episodes.  So, I want to make sure there is a transportation element from the beginning.  Today I’m asking you to vote on it.  Together we’ll choose a mode of transportation that will figure prominently in the story.

It’s really important that you vote.  I did not include a train, riverboat, or a submarine, because I’ve used those in previous serials. I also didn’t list a dirigible (airship) because that’s where I ended “The Delta Pearl.”  Plus, that’s also the setting of my Amazon Vella serial, Pride and Flowers, Prejudice and Dirigibles.

And don’t tell me to choose whatever I want — that defeats the purpose of reader engagement.  It is not in the spirit of these serials.

Be sure to click the “Submit” button.

If the voting box doesn’t show, then be sure to suggest a form of transportation in a comment.

Thanks for reading, commenting, and especially for voting.  Hugs on the wing.

Meanwhile…

Dead of Winter — The Journeys

Emlyn, the Deae Matres and company would love to make your acquaintance.

The July issue is almost ready.  It is a good bit shorter than the previous one.  However, a lot happens.

    1. Good job Bond! 🐱 Crystal is honestly the most “sensitive” cat I’ve ever seen. EVERYTHING upsets her… Yet shockingly fireworks don’t seem to bother her more than a little bit. She handles it better than I do. And they went on until midnight last night… Now the doorbell — that’s a whole other ballgame. Or just about anything else. LOL. Sometimes she hides if I have the phone on speaker…
It was a very productive day, Teri, so I really couldn’t ask for better than that. Thanks for voting! Hugs on the wing.

    1. Thanks for voting, Deborah! This one is going to be as wild and crazy as Hullaba Lulu, but in a different way. I hope you had a wonderful holiday. I look forward to some pictures on your blog, I hope. 🙂
For once, I really accomplished a lot yesterday. That might not be much of a holiday for other people, but I’m tickled pink. Hugs on the wing!

    1. Hi Jennie. I continue to be puzzled about the hit and miss stuff with WordPress. Thanks for taking time to comment. Vintage luxury car was one of the options. Several people have voted for it, so I’ll add your vote. Have a wonderful new week. Hugs on the wing.

  1. Lots of options to ponder… I love horses so a stagecoach it had to be but then does it have to be horses and then I thought of Father Christmas on his sleigh…drawn by not reindeer but………mmmm…the wrathes from hell…or gnomes…Hugs x

  2. I gave it a lot of thought.
I had 2 choices, in my mind. The one I picked in the end is one of the least popular, but I believe would be a great challenge and would take us somewhere truly different…oh the diners alone! The one I didn’t pick is the most popular.
However, as I live by a stop, I feel there is too much humanity to deal with.
    Happy Fourth of July!!!!

    1. Thanks, Ginger. For some unknown reason, I always have to approve your comments. That might by why you couldn’t see the box. WordPress eats a ton of computer resources. Other people might just need to refresh their screen.
Thanks for voting in a comment. Hugs on the wing!

  3. I wonder if there will be a consensus, reading the comments, Teagan! I found it quite difficult to choose. Every option I read sounded good. I also liked Caravan, but then I felt that The Deae Matres way of travelling is somewhat reminiscent of a caravan, so I went for something a bit different. As I said, every option got me thinking of the possibilities, so I’m sure it will be great no matter what. I am looking forward to this! Have a good non-break!

    1. Hi Olga. I gave so many options, I rather doubt there will be much of a consensus. We were thinking similarly. I started to include “Wagon” then, oops the Deae Matres! Then you know my imagination… After I used 18-Wheeler/Semi truck, I remembered the old movie “Convoy” (about the trucks). That started me thinking of all the crazy things that might travel together — so I used Caravan as an option. Have a beautiful weekend. Hugs on the wing!

    1. Thanks for voting, Dan. I can’t see who voted for what, but I see the mail truck got at least one vote. Your past mention of working for the Post Office during summer breaks got me thinking of different things that might happen with that vehicle. Plus, I wanted to offer some unusual choices. LOL, sorry not to have a train. 😉 I admit it was a big temptation. Hugs on the wing!

  4. I could only click on one, so I picked teleportation device. What I actually was thinking, was a trolley that was a teleportation device. (I didn’t want it to sound like ‘Back to the Future’ or a John Howell novel. )

    1. GP, I think you might have been around me too long — I think you’ve caught my weirdly-wired way of thinking. That’s exactly what popped into my head when I included the trolley! Although I’m determined not to have any preconceived ideas for this story, and let the “things” guide it. That said, I hope you’re getting your three random things ready. Don’t over-think it. Just make sure they aren’t related to each other. 🙂 Hugs on the wing!

    1. Barb, I thought about your VW bus stories when I included RV. I have an entire Pinterest board of those revamped retro campers. I’m infatuated with them. I have a magic one in one of my unfinished novels from many years ago. Thanks for voting. Big hugs!

    1. That was my thinking too, Priscilla. I’m completely open to whatever the reader things inspire for the next serial. It will be interesting to see how transportation comes into play. Thanks for voting. Hugs on the wing!

    1. Thanks, Chris. Indeed it does. From wagons, to semi-trucks, to camels… or even snails when my imagination is involved. LOL. I’m seeing time travel or teleportation mentioned in a few comments. So that may well creep into the story. It will be fun to see where it goes — and how it gets there. Hugs on the wing!

        1. Ha! That’s such a thought. I couldn’t take that away from you, Chris. Go for it while it’s in your head. Maybe they collide with a chicken seller, feathers fly and get stuck in the pipes… or in his red beard…
I had to look up tuk-tuk, but now I remember seeing them in street scenes in movies. So cool.
