Hello, my chuckaboos! Welcome to my sanctuary.  

Ever since the night that March roared in, chaos has ruled my life.  Balderdash — you just wouldn’t believe… it’s been like a bad TV movie.  No.. It’s been like a bad TV movie from the 80s, or whatever decade you feel the worst television programs were made. Among other bad things, I was tangling with bureaucracy, and they were fighting dirty. 

Anyhow, writing “The Delta Pearl” takes focus, and I haven’t any left (or energy for that matter).  So this is my version of a Gone Fishin’ sign.  Well, dash my wig!  Now I want fish & chips, and along with focus, that’s another thing I don’t have.

On the bright side, the monthly novelettes of Dead of Winter are still on schedule.  Now, Journey 3, the Fever Field is available at Amazon (Kobo.com will be coming soon).

Here’s me reading to you from the point of view of the “watcher.” It’s an extremely casual recording, filled with flaws, but it’s my way of spending five minutes of personal time with all of you.

This is the third installment of Dead of Winter, and so far my favorite. I loved getting to know the youngest of the Deae Matres, Zasha. She has a passionate personality that drew me into her part of the story. The Deae Matres were searching for answers, which lead them to the Fever Field or a graveyard. Then the story returned to Emlyn, and I couldn’t read fast enough to find out what happened to her. I’m loving this story and can’t wait to see where the next journey goes.

Journey 3 Blurb

The Fever Field is burial ground that is far older than the inhabitants of the Flowing Lands realize.  We first saw it in the prologue of Journey 1, Forlorn Peak.  Now we learn more about the place where ancient evil was buried and forgotten, until that moment in the prologue when it broke free.

On the cover of Journey 3, The Fever Field, Emlyn has turned to look toward Zasha.  Much of this third installment is told from Zasha’s point of view.  We’ll get better acquainted with the sisters in the Society of Deae Matres who traveled with Zasha.  Also, we meet a tall, intriguing north-man, as well as the most mysterious adherent of the Deae Matres.

The youngest of all the Society, Zasha encounters some resistance from the other sisters traveling with her.  She also runs into trouble of her own.

Meanwhile, Emlyn’s uncertain situation with her family combines with the threat posed by the Brethren of Un’Naf.  What is the greater danger, her loved ones, or the fanatics?  In Journey 3, Emlyn’s circumstances reach a tipping point.  There seems to be no good choice for her.  How can she survive?

  8. I’m sorry to hear about the bureaucracy, Teagan. Ugh. I can relate to how difficult it is to write when other things are pulling at you. It’s great that you’re on schedule with Dead of Winter, and a fabulous review from Denise. 🙂 I hope to crack it open soon!

    1. Oh you are so kind about the reading, Michael. I used to want to narrate, at least my own books. But I get a bad cough with my allergies — making it difficult to do a recording of any length. Maybe one day I’ll get some skill with editing recordings and be able to do that. Thanks for your encouragement about the other. It was a very upsetting (and absurd) situation. However, I think I managed to get them to see enough common sense to improve things a little. Although I won’t believe it until I get something in writing…

    1. You’re too kind, Tim — Thank you. My allergies have been awful already this year. Tree pollen has been high, so that’s probably to blame. At any rate I get a mean cough from it. I knew there wasn’t any point in trying for perfection. The more I talk the more I cough. LOL. I appreciate you listening to the recording. Happy Caturday. Hugs on the wing.

      1. The slight imperfections make it more inviting and fun to listen to. A real person telling a story aa opposed to simply reading her lines.

    2. Hi GP. My first steampunk serial was back in 2015. I’ve been missing my Cornelis Drebbel character. So, I think my next serial will bring him back. Cornelis’s road locomotive was a reader favorite. This time the little girl (Copper) is a young woman, and Felicity (the woman in trousers) is not in the story. The setting is a parallel old Wild West. There’s a cool mine hideout with loads of steampunk gadgets. So after the Delta Pearl concludes, your expertise with terrific “random things” is still needed.
      That serial went for quite a while. Here are the first handful of episodes, if you want to get a sense of the Cornelis character. Only if you’re interested. Hugs.

  19. Great job, Teagan. My paper copy arrived yesterday afternoon. It’s my weekend treat. I have a nice easy day planned and then I’ll get comfortable and settle back with this Journey. I hope March starts turning lamb-like for you.
