Hello, everyone. Welcome to my sanctuary.

When I sat down, my intention was to write a post about making book covers. However, I got so caught up in the edits for the third “journey” of Dead of Winter that I’m just plain worn out. That said, the next installment is on schedule — despite all the time I spent obsessing over its cover image.

In stead, I’ll just do a simple “cover reveal” post. Da-tah-da! Here it is.

Geneviene’s world building is excellent. She has created a restrictive Un’Nafian religion, an agrarian people, an oppressive patriarchal society, and a spirit world that is as tangible as the characters’ goats and horses.

When we do have Emlyn’s point of view, her scenes are frightening, especially her dreams. They are the kinds of dreams that made me hold my breath until it’s all over! Kudos to Geneviene for making my heart race. Emlyn is such a sweet character, and her family treats her horribly. I just wanted to reach into the story and rescue her! Click for full review.

Journey 1, Forlorn Peak

I’m having the best time reading this continuing saga that comes out one novella at a time. The characters are well developed and REAL, the setting is sadly real, in that it’s fantasy and yet could be our world today in so many ways. The plot unfolds with each novella. A brilliant way to bring a story to readers. This author’s creativity makes my imagination leap into the pages.

    1. Thank you kindly, Michael. I’m thrilled about the reviews. I’m so happy you are reading this series. I’m not a quick reader, I think it’s much nicer to “soak up” a book — let it seep into the cracks and corners in my mind. So take your time.
      Journey 1 sets the foundation of the overall story. Journey 2 adds fullness, detail to that foundation. Journey 3 gets very exciting. I’ll be publishing a new journey each month for about a year. The original manuscript is 840 pages long. Crystal sends a purr. Hugs on the wing!

  7. So, the review links took me to Amazon reviews. Both are very positive.
    So, then I went to each blog, read the first post up, and commented. I mentioned I had come from here, and that I enjoyed their reviews. I was already following one blog, but forgot!!

    1. Thanks, Mary. The Fever Field is actually a graveyard in the story — a very old one. It’s the next location to which the characters travel in their “journeys.”
      I hoped to find a cemetery painting by the artist-family I’ve been using for the backdrops, but ruins were the closest to that I could find. I felt it set a similar mood. Thanks for visiting. Stay safe and warm. Hugs on the wing!

  17. Love Priscilla’s and Pamela’s reviews and your new cover. The only thing that disappointed me was not finding a link to Journey 3, but I will get over that as soon as it is published. Anticipatory hugs flapping your way to lift you up so you can finish Journey 3, the Fever Fields.

    1. Thanks so much for the feedback, Teri. I know that it’s going to get tricky to keep similar looks to so many different covers (without them getting too repetitive). I’m hoping the backgrounds will help with the continuity. I hope you’re still doing better every day. Hugs on the wing!

    1. What a lovely comment, Dan — thanks so very much. LOL, yeah, there must have been 50 versions before I settled. And you know I’m not exaggerating. On version 49, after switching “Emlyns” several times. I finally cut the poor girl’s head off and added a different one. Somehow that worked for me. o_O Stay safe and warm. Hugs on the wing!

    1. LOL, I’ve been having a great time with the edits for Journey 3, Olga. Moving bits around, adding new material (to make it work as a serial). Yes… that’s my idea of fun. I’m just not wired right! 😀 Thanks so much for reading and commenting. Hugs on the wing!
