I was so excited to read the review that author and translator, Olga Núñez Miret wrote for Dead of Winter: Journey 1, Forlorn Peak that I had to share it.  I’ve sent the limo above to pick up Olga and some other guests.

In her review , Olga mentions that Dead of Winter feels like it might, in part, be a coming of age story for Emlyn.  “Coming of age” has always been an engaging concept to me.  Personally, I don’t think it’s limited to the very young.

Teaganizations of Doors

Thursday Doors is a weekly feature allowing door lovers to come together to admire and share their favorite door photos from around the world.  Dan Antion is the new host of this weekly excursion.  Now to the Teaganizations of doors for Thursday Doors.  I thought it would be fun to send a limousine for Olga’s characters. Of course the vehicle has Doors!

Among her many wonderful books, Olga has one that, to me, is a different sort of coming of age story — You’re Never Too Old to Be a Prom Queen.  After all, we’re never too old to make a dream come true, or to inspire one another.  During such a difficult time, this uplifting story is just the thing.  Every prom queen deserves to be transported in a limousine. (Winks!) 

Naturally Lucy and Twiggy had to have a ride in it when they heard I’d be headed to Austin to visit their “Boss.”

That’s right, today I’m visiting with the inimitable John W. Howell — and Lucy and Twiggy!  So now I’ve switched the limo for a 1956 Oldsmobile in honor of Eternal Road: The final stop.   I love the two-tone paint and interior in this car.  That’s suitable because this book touches several genres — giving it more than one tone, so to speak.

Winter Is Here

As you already know, Dead of Winter: Journey 1, Forlorn Peak is here.  I’ve made great progress on “Journey 2, Penllyn.” It will definitely be ready for February.  It will be a good deal longer than the very short first journey, but still only novelette length.

  8. Now, a limousine for Lucy and Twiggy is perfectly acceptable, I feel, for ladies of their extreme fame and notoriety. I just assumed John had his own that he chauffered them in?

  19. I really like the door on the black limo because it appears to have legs! Unique! 🤗

    The ’56 Oldsmobile is great. Comes from “my time”. I especially like the way the door and window are decorated with Lucy and Twiggy. Perfect touch.

  21. Those are great doors, Teagan. I might not recognize the white wolf thats traveling alone, but there’s no mistaking Lucy and Twiggy, or that Oldsmobile.

    Olga’s story has an interesting sense about it, just from the title. The phrase “prom Queen” brings so many emotions to mind.

    I’m glad the support for the launch of Dead of Winter is still rolling in, and I’m happy to see you twist it for Thursday Doors – time traveling car doors certainly count, and I appreciate the support.

      Olga’s book was such an unexpected concept to me — I enjoyed reading something different. I think it will appeal to people who think about turning points in their lives, and those who wish they could have acted more whimsically. Hugs on the wing!
