I’ve been combining Wednesdays and Thursdays so that I can participate in the Thursday Doors posts, hosted by Dan Antion.  To my surprised delight, the book launch for Dead of Winter: Journey 1, Forlorn Peak is still going.  So I’m sharing extra posts, in support of those who are helping me.)

Wednesday Writing

The Wednesday Writing part of this post is about the lack of writing.  My apologies to those who follow my steampunk riverboat serial, The Delta Pearl. I didn’t intend for my break to last more than a weekend.  Admittedly, I needed time to launch Dead of Winter.  However, I already have “issues,” and the stuff happening in this country has basically incapacitated me.  I haven’t been able to write The Delta Pearl, or edit the next “journey” in Dead of Winter.  There are a dozen mundane daily things I haven’t been able to do either, but you don’t need or want to hear about that.

Working with images helps me.  That’s the one thing I’ve been able to do during the past week and a half. The image above is a concept I made for Dead of Winter: Journey 2, Penllyn.  However, it was too dissimilar to the first journey’s cover.  Over the weekend I worked obsessively on the cover for Journey 2 and finally settled on the image — cover reveal for that coming soon!

  1. Wonderful, Teagan! I love your comment, “working with images helps me.” Yes! Isn’t that why people go to an art museum, to see an image and become inspired? Isn’t that why people are drawn to oceans and mountains? Images trigger the brain (and the heart), and inspire writing.

    1. Hi Lavinia. Ha! I confess that I’m kind of overwhelmed — but in the best possible way.
      I can just imagine your beautiful surroundings. We had an oddly cloudy day yesterday, but no rain. We need rain… or some kind of moisture. Today the sun is already bright and beautiful. It will warm up quickly from that low in the teens. (Just as the summer was a lot hotter and longer than normal, so has the winter been colder and starting earlier than usual.) I guess that should keep me inspired for editing Dead of Winter! LOL.
