Welcome to my sanctuary, and happy hump day.  It’s with pleasure that I bring you Design Nature for a Colorful Home, a new book by Valentina Cirasola.  She’s an interesting and talented person, so I hope you’ll also check out her blog.

If you pick up a camera and take a picture of anything that strikes your eyes, it doesn’t have to be a real object, or something with a meaning, just study that picture, and you will see the reason why you immortalized that “something”.
One day, I took a photo of a succulent plant in my garden, not because it was particularly beautiful, but because I was attracted by the yellow decorative butterfly light inside the pot and by the yellow ceramic piece outside the pot. This told me I was craving “Yellow Vibrations”.

Going to the grocery shop, taking pictures of the flower bouquets in the store and forgetting to buy food is not a common thing people do, but I did. Later, all those pictures of flowers gave me the idea for this book. My goal was to entice the readers to look at flower bouquets, or any flower composition in nature with new eyes and lead them to create their own alluring color scheme for any room in the house or office that carries a new excitement.
The book is full of beautiful photographs taken by me in various places in nature and in the stores.  

Nature is our best friend and companion, she always gives us the pleasure of beauty, harmony and peace. This book focuses on how to take advantage of nature’s colors and turn them into doable solutions. The home has a spirit that will love you if you create an inspiring, healthy, vibrant home for the body, mind and spirit. Everyone will feel comfortable in a home conceived with harmony and love will grow.

About the Author

Valentina-Cirasola (1)

Valentina Cirasola is a native of Bari, the main city of Puglia – Italy. As all the Italians, she has a snappy temper, and has a passion for fast cars, fast thinking, quick actions, hot and vivid colors, but she loves, loves, loves slow food.

She is a trained and award winner designer of interiors and fashion, in business since 1990. She was awarded for her participation on the design concept for San Jose Little Italy Arch, unveiled March 2015.
Born in a family of artists, style surrounded her since the beginning of her life and determined her career. She loves to remodel homes creating the unusual as well as styling personal images.
Often people describe Valentina as “the Colorist” – she loves to color her clients’ world. Vogue Italia magazine and many prominent publications in California featured Valentina’s work.

She also appeared on RAI-Italian National TV, in the program “Cara Francesca” and made many appearances on the local California T.V. Comcast Channel 15. For three years Valentina has conducted her show on BlogTalkRadio called: Valentina Design Universe.
Under the same label, she started the production of her own TV Show at a KMVT15 airing in San Francisco Bay Area, Cupertino, Mountain View, Los Altos, Sunnyvale, AT&T U-Verse channel 99 throughout the Bay Area and Comcast Channels 15-26.

Valentina is the author of six books, paperbacks and eBooks format, all available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

When Valentina Cirasola is not working with clients, she can be found at the Opera, Ballet and Art Galleries, in her garden growing organic food, taking photos at anything she finds attractive, creating stylish fashion, speaking in public, teaching classes and taking curious travelers to her native region of Puglia, as a cultural promoter. She exposes her travel guests to food/wine tasting, shopping the Italian style, admiring art and architecture and basically living it up in Puglia for 12 days.

As for me, I’m still looking for my mojo, but I think I might be on its trail. I’ve been posting daily writing prompts on Facebook, hoping to inspire other writers. I’ll do that daily throughout National Novel Writing Month. As Ingersol said, “We rise by lifting others.” Motiving others helps me keep going, and I hope it will lead me to my mojo.

I’m also continuing work, getting Dead of Winter ready for publication of its first “journey.” Of course there’s The Delta Pearl too. A new chapter of the blog serial is ready for this weekend.

    1. LOL. Diana, a friend back in DC joked about the building next to our office. (I referred to everything in that metro area as “DC Drab.”) They were repainting the outside of the building. Originally it was muddy taupe and had had shapes between sections in a toned-down terracotta color. When they repainted it, they replaced the terracotta with gray. She had remarked that the former colors were the only thing interesting in the area. “Here, tan is a pop of color!”
      One winter day I saw a woman in a red coat. A lone spot of color in a sea of black and gray. I had to resist the impulse to run up and hug her. LOL, I’d probably drive your husband crazy.

  7. Valentina’s book sounds very interesting. I follow a number of people who post photos of flowers. We don’t have many flowers, but I enjoy taking pictures of blossoms. I never thought about flowers in stores. I like the way people think.

    Your writing prompts are stirring my thoughts and starting the rusty gears turning in my head. Thanks for that.

    1. Hi Dan. Yes, Valentina truly has an eye — and a heart for color, in whatever form it takes, including flowers.
      Thanks so much for saying that about the writing prompts. I was having doubts about continuing them. However, I’m so much more likely to work with them myself if I share them somewhere with others. I thought about making them a daily feature (only through November) here, but for a few reasons I didn’t. Hugs on the wing!
