Welcome to my sanctuary.  I hope your week has been good so far.  As I type this, I’m up early.  (I have to do any online work early, because my Internet starts going bad at 9 AM.) I can see the tiny birds outside my window.  Soon the pigeons will almost crowd them away, but for now they have the water bowl to themselves.  I’m more interested in the birds than Crystal is.  She’d happily bathing while watching a video of a groundhog eating a carrot.

Like many people, COVID-19 “stuff” has made it almost impossible for me to focus on anything, including my stories.  I know most writers have complained of that.  So, what to do for my midweek post?  I feel the need to be secretive, but I decided to share some random images of things that are in the story.  This (below) is the mental image that actually started my novel in progress.  Seriously, it is.  I’ve told you I’m not wired right…

Everything I do seems to either bring out trolls (whom I delete) or thieves.  (Seriously? If anyone thinks it’s a “joke” to say they plan to “steal” something… Well, if someone can joke about integrity, I have to believe they haven’t any.)  Still, it’s really hard for me to not share about my novel in progress — particularly since that sharing is what encourages me most!

 Maybe that’s why I’m so far behind on it.  It’s already summer, and I hoped to be finished with the writing by now.  Instead I’m barely halfway through the telling.  Violet Lightning 1

This post is made possible in spite of (not because of) the deplorable lack of Internet service from TDS Telecom.  They are even worse than the government about claiming no problem exists in the face of  failure.  TDS Telecom meets every complaint and service call by saying they find no problem. Their technicians come to my home and refuse to do any work or replace equipment, even when their offsite managers have instructed them to do so. They brought equipment that they openly state does not work properly. My letters, emails, and tweets go unanswered.  Dear readers, please do not comment here in response to this paragraph.   3. Just keep writing! Whether a little or a lot, it will all add up! My drawing is off/on right now. Sometimes it seems stifled by the Covid, and sometimes I feel to fie in the face of it, and I have a great drawing night.
    The T Bird is a beauty. My fave.

      Glad you like the T-bird, it gets an important part in the story. I even researched to make sure Ford really did have that color (thinking it might have been repainted). Hugs on the wing.

  4. That old Thunderbird is a beautiful robin’s egg blue. I don’t see that these days. I am sorry the trolls, thieves and Internet Service Provider are still a problem. Life is hard enough! I get some really strange SPAM, but Askimet has been good at catching it.

    I love Crystal’s markings. She is one beautiful kitty!

    1. Hi Lavinia. Yes, they are good at catching the spam. I get more of it than ever, but they still catch it. I love that old Thunderbird. I even researched to make sure Ford really did have that color (thinking it might have been repainted). Color 1452.

  5. It will be fun to see how you intend to blend these images, Teagan. As far as feeling a bit discombobulated by all of the things that have happened, that’s certainly understandable. Life is tough enough, even when everything is going perfectly in our personal lives. Now, let’s toss in a little virus on top of it all to screw with us completely.

    If it’s any consolation, you are not the only one with crappy Internet. We bundle our phone, cable, and Internet, and have to regularly call SuddenLink (wow, is that a misnomer). In one of our latest horrible experiences, we called them out to work on our failed cable signal. The guy left with the cable working. Five minutes later, the Internet was down. I called to try and get him back, but it was too late. There is no local number to call. After I stayed on hold for twenty minutes, I learned the soonest they could come out was eight days from then. Later the same day, both the phone and cable went out. I called to speak to customer service. After being put on hold for ten minutes, the agent came back on the phone to tell me, “I don’t think we have one of those.” 🤣🤣🤣

  6. Great images,Teagan! Dont worry! Calm down, and enjoy the weather. I hope the weather will suit your needs. But you are kidding with Crystal.A cat without interests on birds? Really!;-) Our cat was collecting the feathers,whenever the possibility was given to him. One day i had found feathers of a pheasant. Means he had prepared his daily dish for himself alone. 😉 All the best, Michael

      1. He had shown me some feathers. Anothr day he had brought a living pigeon,but as i not enjoyed this, he was angry and ate it alone. ;-)He was a killer cat, and at least around 2017 he suddenly was never seen again. A good way keeping Crystal close to you.Better she is living indoors. Its much more healthier for her, and you. 😉 Oh yes bird watching on TV is very distracting too. Be well and stay save, Teagan!

  8. Wow Teagan. What an eclectic mix of images. I can’t begin to imagine how all those would be in one story. I totally understand about having a hard time writing these days. Maybe it’s time for joyrides in the T-bird and the airplane! Hugs on the wing literally! 🙂

    1. Thanks, Diana. I realize it’s a lot harder for many others. You’re an inspiration. I didn’t do myself any favors when I used this heroine as an exercise for my own childhood PTSD. I thought I might be able to just edit out that part if it became an obstacle to the story… but it is too much a part of the story — even though I try not to let it “bring down” the spirit of the story, I know the seriousness and the personal memories that are not in the story. I’m determined to finish it some how. Hugs on the wing.

      1. You’re brave to tackle it, Teagan, and I hope on some level, it’s healing to write it out. It sounds like a different book for you. If it touches you and feels authentic to you, it will be that way for your readers. Take it at your own pace. ❤

  12. I think you are wired perfectly Teagan… And love your creative process on how you can weave the magic you do. Such a shame there are thieves about I know how that feels, I came across one a couple of years ago too… I feel sorry for those who cannot create for themselves and feel the need to poach other people’s brains..

    1. Even though that’s an old photo of Crystal, it’s still my favorite, Teri. She’ll be 14 in August! It does baffle me though. She’s always liked videos better than whatever is outside the window. Although she is getting uncomfortably interested in how close the birds are to the back door… The pigeons are so bold that they don’t fly immediately when I open the door. They let me get within a couple feet of them. So I have to make sure Crystal isn’t close to the door when I open it. Hugs on the wing!

    1. GP your blog is interesting, informative, and inspiring. Of course I got something from it. The plane is not a gigantic part of the story but it flies in now and then. The character that you named Hiroto is also coming to life in my mind, even though his role isn’t large. Both add to the mystery just by being there.
      Haha, re the safe… I haven’t been anywhere since January. My savings account is hemorrhaging from price gouging and delivery costs, but I’m staying home. Be well, be happy. Hugs on the wing!

  18. If you’re not wired right, then there may be a problem with what people consider “right.” I love the stories that leap from your mind onto a page. The clues are fun to think about. How they are tied together is anyone’s guess. I can wait.

    Give Crystal a scritch from the girls here in CT. MuMu watched the birds from her perch near the window. I think she wants to escape like your famous cat Lilith. Maybe we all want an adventure.

    1. You’re so kind, Dan — thank you. I hope MuMu keeps her adventures safely inside. It was hard to write about Lilith sneaking outside. Crystal used to always be afraid (run away) whenever I opened a door. But now she is getting too comfortable with the back door. The water bowl is right there on the porch (to keep it in the shade). The pigeons, in particular are so bold that they don’t fly immediately when I open the door. When they take off it makes a lot of sound, which draws her attention. They let me get within a couple feet of them. So I have to make sure Crystal isn’t close to the door when I open it.

  21. Your random images will mingle with mine in a jumble spinning around my brain. Oh, well! Things looked better for a while and now not so good, so it’s nearly impossible to focus on anything or make any kind of plans. I also thought about the song “These boots are made for walking” (although my style of walking boots is quite different, to be honest), and I’m beyond intrigued. Big hugs and love to Crystal.     1. Haha. That song does get a little shout-out in the story, Olga. I hoped the virus situation had improved significantly in Spain. (I don’t get network news, just what I search on Youtube. I can barely cope with watching or reading any news at all now.) They certainly seem worse than ever here, even with all the “reopening” stuff. Be well, be happy. Hugs on the wing!

    1. Hi Jaye. Ya know! A phrase in a comment, a photo, anything might turn into a “snapshot” of a story. The initial excitement of creating a new world is almost impossible to resist. Most people would tell me to give up on this story, but I love the “world” and the characters. The lack of focus is a “protector” with PTSD and anxiety disorders, and I (unfortunately tied this story to my childhood). Somehow I must finish it. Hugs on the wing!

  26. So astrology will figure into the story at some point I’m thinking by that machine clock like thingie.

    I love those boots! They would inspire me to purchase an entire outfit to wear them with!

    1. Oh, well thought and a good eye, Deborah! You spotted that. Although, astrology is only related in an indirect way… it is sometimes associated with one of the “secret” elements in the story.
      The high today is finally supposed to be less than 100 degrees. We’ve had a lot of days that were frightfully close to 110. Weather statistics I looked up before relocating said there were only a few 100+ degree days a YEAR. This is a very abnormal year in many ways. God bless my air conditioner. Hugs on the wing!
