Welcome to Jazz Age Wednesdays and a double cover reveal!

That’s right not just one, but two covers — both for Roaring Twenties books.  

I’ve brought along a couple of 1920s musicians to liven up this celebration.

I love making book covers and promo images.  Today I’m double excited to reveal two of the designs I’ve created for my upcoming books.

First, and most importantly, the third book in my Roaring Twenties series will launch this autumn.  It continues the adventures about the flapper, Pip and her friends.  Here’s the cover for A Ghost in the Kitchen.

Announcing my first non-fiction book!

During seven years of publishing stories with a Roaring Twenties setting here at my blog, in addition to the books about Pip, Granny Phanny, and their friends, I’ve done a lot of research.  That includes the slang of the flappers and their goofs.

The language or the 1920s was so much more fun than the way we talk today.  I’ve  compiled those whimsical words throughout the years.  Now I’m making that collection available. I’m not sure if it will launch at the same time as A Ghost in the Kitchen or later this year, but it’s on the way.  Here’s the cover for Speak Flapper — Slang of the 1920s.

    1. Thanks Lavinia! I couldn’t decide whether to launch both volumes at the same time. Then recently, research suggested September is the best time to publish a book. I knew I couldn’t get the dictionary ready this month. So A Ghost in the Kitchen will be a solo launch. *However* I’m making a book fair — sharing as many others as would agree to host my launch. Somehow, I never want it to be only about *me.*

  6. Congratulations Teagan! The first cover looks suitably spooky, magical and intriguing, while the second is a beautiful cover befitting of the times. Your slang always gives a ring of truth to your stories so it’s fabulous that you’re sharing your research!

    1. Ha! I love this comment Ally. You have the heart of a flapper! A few of Pip’s (heroine of A Ghost in the Kitchen) tales actually include time travelers visiting her. So one never knows… 😉 Or you could just throw a Roaring Twenties party. You’re the bee’s knees!

      Thanks very much. I actually put a disclaimer in the slang dictionary saying it is not a scholarly work, even though I did a lot of research. I only mean for it to be used as fun. I appreciate you visiting. Hugs!

    1. Thanks so much, John. At first I thought I should give the dictionary a similar look to Pip’s series. Then I remembered I have more than one 1920s series. Plus I didn’t want it to seem exclusive to those stories. So I made it completely different. Thanks for visiting. You’re the cat’s pajamas!

    1. Oh that would be wonderful, Jacqui — thanks so much! Yes I’ll do some kind of blog hop launch. I haven’t decided exactly what. I try to make them unique.
      Thanks for the title feedback. I have more than one set of 1920s stories. In “Hullaba Lulu” I had a character who said “I speak flapper.” That’s what gave me the idea for the dictionary title. Thanks for visiting. You’re the bee’s knees!

    1. Thank you kindly, Brad. I do use the slang carefully, and in context so that its meaning can be assumed. However, it was so much fun collecting it all that I decided to make the book available. I’m happy you enjoy it. You’re the berries!

    1. Thanks for your feedback, Dan. The dictionary cover might look like a single image (from Pixabay), but I actually did a lot of work on it. The geometric shapes and lines were the size I needed, but the flapper was too big. It was a lot of work not just to resize that part but to make it fit right into that mass of lines and shapes. So even though it was less creative work that the “Ghost” cover, it was a painstaking effort. You’re the cat’s pajamas!

  36. Gorgeous, Teagan. I love purple, so the first one is a sure winner for me and the second one is very stylish and a great idea for a book. I know many of us love all things language-related and historical, and it will be a great resource for writers. Looking forward to both! Good luck!

  38. What a cool idea to do a 20s slang book. Perfect cover for that! A Ghost in the Kitchen fits in perfectly with the series, plus its purple which really draws my eye. Congrats Teagan:)
