I’ve had my hands full trying to put my cottage in order, now that I’m feeling better from the ordeal of moving, not sleeping, and being as freaked out as anybody can be.  There was one other thing I worked on this week.  Here’s a hint.

That said, I didn’t have a post for this weekend.  However, I did want to stop and wish you a happy weekend, from me, Lulu and all the crew of the train!  You’re the bee’s knees!

    1. Ha! I’ve been working my butt off every day. (Yet somehow my butt isn’t any smaller…) Yesterday I painted more. This morning started with weed pulling. My body is complaining too loudly to do more of anything today.
      I’ll be looking for a part time job. But I want to get settled first.
      I’ve furnished the bare basic for the living room, and a bed. If I don’t buy more furniture, then I shouldn’t have to rush to look for a job.
      Glad to hear you’ve been on a writing binge. Thanks for taking time to visit. Great big hug!

    1. Thank you kindly, Jan. I still have a ton of work to do, but now that I’m here… It just makes so much difference to me to be away from DC. I can’t really even describe.

    1. Thanks Jacquie. Yes, this is the good part, no matter how hard the work.
      I seem to be taking my time whether or not I want to. 2 walls a day seems to be my limit. Worse, I seem to need a day off in between each day of painting. Partly to get rid of the fumes, for Crystal’s sake. Today my hands were hurting with it… that’s new. I hope it’s not going to be a recurring problem… :/
      But I look at that pretty aqua wall in the living room and know the house will seem to sparkle when I’m finally done.

    1. I know you both are right, Michael. I don’t exactly feel stressed. However, there is so much to be done, that I feel disinclined to rest. Yet I know I have to rest. (I’m already tired this morning.)
      So, I will set a modest goal for painting today. Perhaps two accent walls. That will take me a big part of the day. I am not a fast painter.

      I’m not sure how Rob will handle the story for his blog (and possibly Sue’s). But I will run it here in one episode.
      I hope to get back to our Brother Love story this coming week. Maybe we can work it as a sort of 3 things…. Letting the “things” include images. For example, one image + 2 things.

  16. There’s a reason moving is so high on the list of stressors, dear friend, take your time, settling in can last a lifetime. 😉
    Just as a fun note, many people may notice I “unfollowed” them here on WordPress (hint hint, I did not unfollow anyone, can you guess who did? Here’s a clue, starts with ‘W’, has never-ending glitches, and their motto is, “If it ain’t broke, we’ll break it”. Sigh). So now I’m refollowing all kinds of blogs that I’ve actually been following for years, inclduing yours, of course, dear Teagan. Other than that, my week has been going well (ish).
    Hope you have a peace-filled weekend settling in. 🙂

    1. Dear Donna — no worries. I’ve been having the same problems. The WordPress gremlins are ravenous! I was already unable to keep up with everyone. Now I find I’ve been unfollowed from most.
      Lovely quote. For a long time I wanted a home that I could call a cottage. 🙂 I’m not sure what technically qualifies, but this is my cottage.
      Sigh… now back to painting. I’m not a good painter. I’d settle for even being a half decent painter — or Ms. Fix-it. But I’m just not any good at either. There is more paint on me (and everything else) than the walls! No matter what I try to do to avoid that. But even my poor efforts are better than scuffed stained walls.
      And freshly painted baseboards make a room sparkle.
      Although at my slow rate, the first baseboards will be old and dirty by the time I finish the last ones…

      You weren’t here then but… about a year ago I did a long running serial. It was a diesel punk (1920s fantasy) story called “Hullaba Lulu.” My partner in crime (collaborator) was artist, Rob Goldstein, who did the illustrations.

      Rob had commented on one of my “Jazz Age Wednesdays” features that the story reminded him of a song his grandmother used to sing to him, called “Don’t Bring Lulu.” Things grew from that point.

      So the teaser is about a short story that gives some of the Lulu characters another adventure. Happy weekend hugs!

    1. It’s wonderful to see you Judi! Yes, Michigan gets a long cold winter. Although it’s an amazingly beautiful place.
      New Mexico has an ideal temperature at this time of year. Soon (particularly in the southern parts of the state) it will be getting too hot for my taste — but hey, that’s why I have an air conditioner! LOL. Overall, I find the weather (including the temperatures) here very much to my liking.
      I hope you can enjoy a lovely spring weekend. Sunshine super hugs!

        1. That’s right — the air is extremely dry. Here, 10% is high humidity! It’s helpful for the heat and for the cold — if you have any achy places. Much of the state, including my area, is “high desert.” I’m not in the mountains, but my altitude is still 4000+ feet. That means I get all four seasons (though a fairly mild winter). At night, with no cloud cover to insulate things, the temperature drops significantly. So in summer that allows for a little break, making very hot days a little less oppressive.
          I hope you get to enjoy the beautiful day. Hugs.

    1. Thanks Robbie. I have to agree. It was also wonderful to see Rob get excited about working on something again.
      I finished writing the story yesterday. However, I’m waiting to see how Rob wants to handle it. Since it was done at his request, and he meant it to be for a guest post at Sue’s blog (at least originally… he may change his mind), I will wait about running it here.

      1. No worries there Teagan! I’m taking breaks. Heading to the mall soon to replace a lipstick followed by trip back to the hardware store for more boxes and paper wrapping. The date the movers arrive is looming large on my mind and the calendar!

        1. I wish we were closer so I could give you boxes. However, I won’t really start unpacking until after I finally finish painting. That seems to be taking forever. My hands were hurting with it today. That’s new. I hope it does not continue.
          Oh, here’s a tip — toilet paper rolls. They make great packing material. To top off boxes, If you can stand them on end, they actually support quite a bit of weight. I guess it’s a little late for you to start saving them now…

          1. Oh, it wouldn’t have mattered about the toilet paper rolls. I did save them, but not for packing. I saved them for Box the Guinea Pig! He loves them decorated in bright colors of paper and filled with Timothy Hay. Box has gone to live with #1 Grandson now so I’m not saving them anymore.

            Oh, I get it! Your hands are using muscles they don’t usually use so they’re sore. I hope not cramping! My butt is sore from stooping and bending in ways I don’t normally bend to build and fill boxes. It’s like weeding in the yard sore!
            I wish you were closer too, but not for your boxes. Just to walk, shop, eat, and talk!

              My friend in the next town may have created a thrift shop addict… Well, no — that is one thing I can thank my agoraphobia for — I won’t be running out anywhere obsessively. LOL. But there are several in this little city. We went to one and I scored a lamp in the perfect color of yellow, and a couple of throw pillows (cute as they are, but I intend to cover them).
              Since I got my first retirement check — and deductions ate 50% of it… (no exaggeration) I’m holding back on the basic furnishings I intended to get for the cottage. Hopefully I can get myself out to the other thrift shops and see what (if anything) they yield before I buy the basics I had in mind.
              I have the 2 love-seat sofas — so something to sit on is more comfort than I’ve had since Feb. 22 when I donated my furniture. And I got my bed frame and mattress (although I’m sleeping on the air mattress until I finish painting in that bedroom).
              So it’s all good! 🙂

              1. When we bought this house 37 years ago we thought we could move right in, but found the paint intolerable after the previous owner moved out. All our stuff sat packed in the garage while we painted the entire interior. We did bring in our bed though.
                At our new house in NV we’re sleeping on an air mattress with our sleeping bags for blankets until our official move later this month.

                I hope you’re able to get out to those other thrift shops while the paint dries and find some things you need and want! xx
