Thriving Thursdays: What if I Fall – 2

Welcome back.  I’m playing catch-up again, re-posting some of the Thriving Thursdays mini-posts that The Story Reading Ape has so generously allowed me to do from his tree-house.

Thriving Thursdays: What if I Fall – 2

What if I fall?  What if someone laughs?  What if it’s expensive?  What if it’s a no return ramp exit?  What if—?

Are you afraid you’ll fall?  Yet you don’t want that nagging fear to hold you back, right?  Well, sometimes we just have to redefine our perception of things.  Would you really be falling?

“Did you just fall?”charlie-chaplin-fell-down

“No.  I attacked the floor.”

Go ahead and attack the floor.  If you even got up and tried — the truth is, that’s more than most people do.  That alone means you didn’t really fall.  Did you learn something from that failed attempt?  About yourself, or about how you’re doing things?  Then you didn’t truly fall.

“There is freedom waiting for you,
On the breezes of the sky,
And you ask “What if I fall?”
Oh but my darling,
What if you fly?”
― Erin Hanson

    1. Ha! I can relate to not wanting to get back up again for sure, Mary. Sometimes it seems more like I’m “spooning” the floor than attacking it. 😀
Thanks for visiting — it’s great to see you. Have a sensational Saturday. Hugs.

  1. Now I have Chumbawamba’s ‘Tubthumping’ in my head – I get knocked down but I get up again. Very appropriate it for me this week, thank you, dear Teagan, this made me smile.
Hope you had a Thriving Thursday, a Fantastic Friday, and a Wonder-filled Weekend!!!
    All the best, always! 🙂
    Mega flying fun hugs xoxox

    1. I love that song, Donna! Thanks for reminding me of it — and especially thanks for taking time to comment. If it helps at all, know that I’m there, getting knocked down with you. No we’re never going to keep us down! Mega flying hugs right back!!!

  2. What goes up must come down, and we all have those times. The down times help one appreciate the times when they fly! I love the picture of the man floating down with his umbrella. Always wanted to pull a Mary Poppins myself! 🙂

  3. Oh I do love this post….and it’s so true. Falling, (and I have a had a few big falls in my life) can be so beneficial if we learn from them as we attack the floor. 🙂 When I look back on my falls….my life wouldn’t be anywhere as rich as it is today had they not happened. I don’t think the hummingbirds would be hovering either…which is an interesting thought. Have a wonderful weekend my friend. Very cold here – unusually so and so I am pleased to say that I will be continuing to re-organise flat/studio and enjoy a relaxing few days before it all kicks off again next week. Janet. xxx

    1. Thank you, Janet. That means a lot to me. For some reason these simple mini posts are dear to me. They are a part of my “professional self” (business self?) that I no longer get to share in the 9 to 5 world.
What you said resonates strongly. I see much more than a hint of myself, and I have to agree… completely. However, you seem much more at peace with it than I.
Very cold here today too (but due to zoom back up Sunday… very strange winter). It’s a good time to stay inside and do quiet things. Thanks so very much for taking time to visit with me. Have a fabulous Friday. Hummingbird hugs.

    1. I was thinking of your hand a little while ago, Kathryn, when another friend said she dislocated her thumb.
You had a truly horrid injury. I hope it’s all good now. Keep on with whatever PT.
Wishing you a fabulous Friday! Mega hugs.

      1. Thanks Teagan, the PT is slow going but I’m typing fine! I seem to have “sticky fingers” where my broken fingers get stuck at one point and never straighten all the way. I see my orthopedist in early March about that. You have an awesome Friday too! Hugs back!

    1. LOL. That’s fabulous, Dan. I guess I got a kick out of the saying (whomever came up with it) because I do it so often! 😀
Oh wow, the sun came out. Thanks for bringing it with you. Have a thriving Thursday. Mega hugs!

    1. You are so kind, Dyanna. Thank you for cheering me this morning. I always say that with these posts I’m encouraging myself as much as anyone else… as I’ve made clear by attacking the floor myself! LOL. Have a thriving Thursday. Hugs!
